I didn't hear a peep from anyone about improvements to ATC

Honestly, give up on stupid, default ATC.  It sounds bad, it is, and always was,  bad.  There are super good third party AI based systems now.  If you are hoping that MS will even attempt to throw resource at ATC now, you will be waiting a very long time.     However, I think that in time,  they will probably incorporate Beyond ATC instead of trying to redesign the wheel.  It seems to be the route they are taking by incorporating the best of third party available resource. This is  one of the most brilliant strategies in the history of the genre

  • I am not sure what I am thinking about the FS24. It is a FLIGHT Simulator, we need realistic weather, realistic clouds etc. not elephants on the ground. Sorry

This man, asking the megaton questions right off the bat! I just started the video but I'm hoping you also brought up THAT issue lol.

Which issue?

🤪

I did not know pilots did not wear clothes. Is that a new trend? 🤔

So far I'm not happy with how the overcast clouds look, even more so in the sunset or sunrise states. Something just doesn't sit right with the way they look.

I wonder if you will be able to rent the extra aircraft from the premium editions.

After watching videos all day from different people, I think I can confirm that one of the most annoying things to me in 2020 seems to be fixed in 2024, that being the over excessive shaking, twitching, bumping, what ever you wanna call it when you are flying at fast speeds. It looks butter smooth with none of that from what I've seen!

Me too!

One of the most annoying multiplayer/VATSIM bugs in 2020, is disappearing undercarriages of AI aircraft within relative close proximity of your own aircraft.  I hope this doesn't happen anymore in 2024.  Seeing aircraft float by on the taxiway is just 'eyerollingly' stupid.

I must have watched a different trailer then:

ground detail, trees, mud, terrain detail, cockpit shadows, vegetation, animals, wake turbulence, pebbles 🤣, transparent river banks, animated cornfields moving with the wind .... all looking different and so much better.

Well, he is absolutely right and you simply list a complete different set of aspects that ARE improved. But I agree with the other guy that I was also slightly disappointed to see no improvement in the aspects he lists (Photogrammetry, Aerials, Buildings), but also regarding issues of the engine like the mentioned problems of 3D objects in front of clouds and water with reflections. I honestly do not see that this is a different engine, it is rather a significantly improved one but after seeing the vids, I slightly ask myself why this was not possible to release as a big update to the current sim.

And to add: those thing YOU list are only relevant if you do bush flying. If you fly your fenix from addon airport A to addon airport B, most of those things will go unnoticed.

Dont get me wrong, it is still a huge step in the right direction and of course, the step can not be that huge like it was when MSFS2020 was released, because MSFS2020 is now the basics we compare to while it was FSX/P3D back then.

This is to simulate you, the user!
Having many options results in pilot characters that are not generic but reflecting your real person better.
Unless you think a generic chap in the cockpit would represent you better, this is all about simulating the reality and not about gaming!

In some videos I heard much improved (actually perfect realistic) voices.

The main difference is the cloud centric architecture, which can't be added as update the MSFS 2020. Think of a built-in MSFS Addon Linker, that dynamically and automatically collects all the relevant data from cloud storage. With Addon Linker you had to put the addons you needed "in the basket" for every single flight. MSFS 2024 will grab automatically whatever you need from the internet.

That's true, but shouldn't a compelling and feature complete flight simulator not support many interests? So that for basically every user a long list exists of unneeded features? Personally in MSFS 2020 I have never used maybe 2/3 of the available functionality.

Firstly you are correct, there's a misconception that it's a "new" graphics/weather/physics/etc engine which is completely false. If it was all "new" it would've taken years to create not roughly 2 years, everything about MSFS24 is a continuation of development of the current product. Yes we get new features, that doesn't mean the underlying engine is suddenly "new".

Secondly yeah this could've easily of been released as a DLC Update for extra cost, or part of a massive Sim Update Special but what we've got is a new product to boost their income,  it's no different than a yearly FIFA/EA Sports game only there's a bigger gap between the two releases.

But yeah I've spent too much on the sim since 2020.  I'll probably go Aviator anyway 😂

I've been leaning that way, but want to see what aircraft are included. I have not jumped on MS2020 and bought any add-ons—starting from scratch, you might say.

I do something similar with just about every game I play. I take the total number of hours I played and divide that by the cost of the game. A lot I’ve been playing a cent an hour. That’s value!

We won’t talk about the ones I haven’t played enough to warrant that deal however. 😜

Oh, I got sucked into RDR2 online... not a day goes by that I'm hunting animals and people! 😉

The spec sheet makes no sense at all. There's no mention of what results these specs will produce and at what resolution which is particularly important.

In what world is a GTX 970 equivelant to a 5700.

Why is the jump for Intel from a 6800k to 10700k, two whole generations whilst amd is just 2600X to 2700X.

64GB is the most ridiculous of all. Whilst simultaneously not recommending any X3D chips.

I really hope we get a updated spec sheet that makes sense with regards to PC components as well as defined what resolution and fps a defined spec would receive.

Yeah I agree, the whole thing feels hastily slapped together with no rhyme or reason. They could have put some more effort into that one.
