In the old days, filing all slots made it more difficult to get them to run stable and more often than not you had to tune them a bit slower to get it working. On 9/19/2024 at 7:57 PM, Tuskin38 said: I don't know if it's still true with modern ram, but in the past it was usually better to have more sticks so the memory bandwidth usage is spread out. True, and IMO still a wise decision these days. Since the memory controller is built into the CPU these days, filling all 4 slots will make the memory controller work harder which in turn will could cause the CPU cores to hit there thermal limit faster and causing them slow down a bit. If you search the internet about it, you can find proponents for having all 4 modules installed but the majority says it is a bad idea. September 20, 20241 yr I was looking at footage of the F-18, and it has been remodelled, at the very least the cockpit, but it would be odd to remodel the cockpit but not the rest. Compare the handles on the rim of the cockpit, look at the, well I don't know what it's called, the piece in the bottom middle of the HUD glass. Those are the most obvious changes. September 20, 20241 yr There's an icon in the Career tree that shows an aircraft not in the aircraft chart. As far as I can tell, every other aircraft on the career tree is in the aircraft chart. It's an Otto Celera. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Celera_500L I wonder if this is a cut, or maybe a delayed aircraft. Jorg did say the aircraft list was still in flux in the August Q&A. Or it's just a placeholder icon. Edit: It appears to edited from this image Edited September 20, 20241 yr by Tuskin38

Cool how the very detailed 3D ground/terrain modelling then naturally transferred to simulating the friction/skidding/etc in the new ground physics without needing specific considerations and separate handling in code for different surface types like done in sims usually ... tire and gear flex etc all now simulated Helicopters and auto-rotation and skid friction when landing on different surfaces, etc: https://youtu.be/u9vUVpettp0?t=1511 Landing in water and consideration of wave shape, etc: https://youtu.be/u9vUVpettp0?t=1598 Landing and suspension and tire interaction improvements: https://youtu.be/u9vUVpettp0?t=1673 BET vs CFD, simulation of airflow, etc: https://youtu.be/u9vUVpettp0?t=1838 Weather improvements: https://youtu.be/u9vUVpettp0?t=1944 24 hour historical weather (sounds like they store their own detailed weather data for this purpose on their servers rather than going by usual historical weather sources which is more coarse grained data) cirrus clouds thunderstorms, cells, wind shear, etc and actual impact on aircraft cloud thickness now lots more realistic in live weather, so also more chop/turbulence in more dangerous clouds (i.e. thick/stormy clouds + heat/summer will mean lots of turbulence) Helicopter improvements: https://youtu.be/u9vUVpettp0?t=2212 (various topics .. i.e. airframe model/geometry for the FM now much more detailed than a basic box which was in v2020, so airflow more realistic around the body and prop wash etc) Wake turbulence: https://youtu.be/u9vUVpettp0?t=2600 it's enabled for everything including AI aircraft due to CFD the interaction with the sim's atmospheric airflow is natural, and wake turbulence dissipates naturally it's simulated up to 6 minutes in duration and 10 miles distance Career and aviation activities/missions (lengthy discussion for 1/2 hour) : https://youtu.be/u9vUVpettp0?t=2797 Edited September 20, 20241 yr by lwt1971 Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD

So either the engine is doing something differently or they are just creating a very, very wide 'buffer zone' for the most extreme scenarios. I said screw it and picked up 2x32 64GB sticks of RAM to replace my 2x16 sticks for just over $200 and it’s DDR5 so good price. Edited September 21, 20241 yr by B777ER Eric

I will rephrase it, it's not necessarily a bug, but the feature isn't working as it should (maybe not implemented yet, or not working as it should in that testing build). My point is they intend to make it work eventually (hopefully for the release). One example of something similar to that is the trim, several people said the trim wasn't working at all, but I'm pretty sure is the build they were testing and it will be fixed for the release. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel
