Just to make sure I understand - I have the Premium 2020, so I own the 787 in MSFS2020. If I buy the 2024 standard version, I will still be able to use the 787 (even though it's premium tier in 2024 too)?

Apparently yes. The official FAQ's have been updated to confirm this.

Glad I haven't pre-ordered anything yet....

Awesome news! It was the right thing to do for their loyal customers. We have invested so much time and money in our beloved MSFS add-ons, that its nice for use Premium users to be rewarded. If I wanted the new airplanes in the new sim, I would gladly pay the extra $$.

I have not made a decision of which one to buy. Now I might just buy the premium as a thank you to the ASOBO team.

Has any streamer gone into the EFB in detail please? I'm very intrigued by this as I'm a long time Sky4Sim user (and fan!) so it may render that null & void, which would be a shame but one less thing to load/configure etc

I am also VERY curious to find out if this new EFB renders Navigraph useless or not... I also wonder how those new MSFS 2024 charts are integrated in the various systems (like the G3000 in the SF50). And of course if they will somehow play well with SimBrief or for instance BATC.

I said screw it and picked up 2x32 64GB sticks of RAM to replace my 2x16 sticks for just over $200 and it’s DDR5 so good price.

Yeah got a Corsair 2x32 set bookmarked as well, might pull the trigger soon 😶

When I interviewed Chris from Working Title (it's not out yet, so this is a bit of a spoiler I suppose) he mentioned basically that they aren't trying to make Navigraph obsolete, but to create a tool for those who don't use Navigraph so that they can do proper flight planning, but they expect people who are comfy with Navigraph to stick with it.

Besides, Navigraph has been very active adding new features. Personally I plan to continue using it because it's a very complete and consistently expanded tool that offers a lot of value. If anything I expect this to spur Navigraph's folks to do even better. Competition is good for us.

I didn't see the question being asked whether you will be able to use 3rd party aircraft in career mode, did anyone else see mention of that?

What aircraft will I have access to in Career Mode?

Career Mode is open for all kinds of aircraft that are appropriate for the various aviation activities. Most but not all of the aircraft from the various editions of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be utilized in the Career and the system is also open to 3rd parties if they want their aircraft to participate.

Thanks, good to know. I personally don't use the Navigraph tools apart from SimBrief and the tool to integrate the charts into the G3000. I never use the Charts app. I'll have to see how this all works out.

If that's all you use Navigraph for, then you probably won't need it as long as you're fine with Lufthansa's charts.

Yes, but I probably need Navigraph for BATC. Or FSHud. And for SimBrief anyway. But I will see how the MSFS new charts will play with SimBrief and various addons.

A bit disappointing that the various new aviation activities are tied to career advancement and in that sense need to be "unlocked", though sounds like you can skip all the training/etc and go straight to the check rides which then means an initial few hours to unlock the activities and then they stay unlocked? But for a true "sandbox" experience, they should make all activities available so we can just pick an activity, configure it maybe (i.e. location and aircraft, choose where the fire will be for firefighting, or where to crop dust, etc) and then just go do it, for the times we just want to do things free-form without any serious implications for the career status etc. In one of the interviews it was discussed this option is there only as a debug setting, but hopefully they open this up later. And also make the aviation activities very configurable for the user (as makes sense).

ALERT!!!!!!

Please note that while the updated FAQ has confirmed that aircraft in our current Premium Deluxe versions will work in 2024, they will work AS THEY ARE. Purchasing each tier of the sim gives you access to upgraded versions of the current ones.

So if you're not interested in having a better version of your 787, Longitude etc. Go ahead and purchase the standard version otherwise, you might want to get the higher tiers right off the bat to avoid paying an additional premium to upgrade later.

I've learnt from my mistake with MSFS2020, Premium Deluxe version of 2024 all the way.

The new flight planner looks great for anyone not convinced by Navigraph. That said, I love my Navigraph charts. Makes non-precision approaches so much easier.

Me too.. and not just for updated versions of the 787, Longitude, SR22 etc but also for whatever enhancements they'll be doing in the future to other aircraft that's exclusive to Deluxe (along with other benefits that might open up in the future for owners of the higher tier editions)
