How are you going to do that?  All the payware airplanes charts etc still powered by navigraph

I think this is an "as of today" situation with the WT flight planner shown... it's not only pulling navdata, those look like actual live LIDO charts.

I do love Navigraph Charts, but this looks like a pretty close competitor. It'll have to come down to execution for me, even if it's a few small things, I'm happy paying my $10 monthly to Navigraph.

  • Man oh man the physics improvements in so many aspects of the sim that Seb walks through starting around here https://youtu.be/fp4a3hPwP4s?t=962 ... wish they had let him talk even longer 🙂  They

  • Yeah I'm definitely dropping my Navigraph sub. The default planning tool is looking incredible.

  • The scope and ambition of what these guys are doing is pretty amazing imo. Really looking forward to November’s release, bugs, warts and all!

Been months since logging a flight on MS2020, but I can't wait for MS2024. I don't believe in pre-release purchases but am going to have to bend my own rules to make this one exception. Aviator Edition it is then.

The great MSFS alternate version HEX to come in msfs2024?

An old cliche is that every other edition of MSFS was good and fixed the one that came before.

1982 fs1 a few squiggly lines -

1983 fs2 was the first real flightsim that you could see reality of flight in +

1988 fs3 was not so great -

1989 fs4 was a classic! The 1st great edition. You could download addons. Tons of them! ++

1993 fs5 ran in a dos box version of windows. Still on floppies. fps were very slow -

1995 fs5.1 although called 5.1, you paid full price for it, not an update, DCROM only. great! +

1996 fs95 true 3D at last. slow fps. lots of trouble. first fs to run native in windows not loved -

1997 fs98 The first true classic since fs4! This was 2nd trully great version!. ++

1999 fs2000. Had better graphics. low fps. OK but not loved much by many. -

2000 fs2002 A very much improved version over the last +

2003 fs9 this was not bad, really, but the next version was the alltime classic -

2006 fsx no other version set the world on fire like this one! 3rd great classic version ++

2012 Microsoft Flight. Not really loved by many -

2020 msfs2020 loved greatly by one and all 4th great classic ++

2024 (Another hexed edition with a minus)??

Still not seeing any sign of route generation outside of departure and approach suggestions

This has been interesting to watch. Glad to see the flight planner is far more in-depth than what we got to see in the tech alpha.

Edit: It is possible that the new flight planner uses Navigraph for some of that information as well.

Yes. Its apparently just a webpage you can access

I took note of the EFB in the Grand Canyon preview and was very excited.  I do not have subscriptions to anything, MSFS or otherwise.  If Navigraph offered a one time payment, I would consider it depending on cost but no subscription for me.  After showing the EFB in more detail in this video, I think it may be one of the best features, for me at least.

You can see the new handcrafted Bilbao airport when Seb is talking about CFD and wake turbulence

edit: oh lmao Jorg talks about it later in the video

Lmao Jorg says there’s no new airports in 2024, but literally showed a new handcrafted Bilbao airport in the presentation.

But I don’t blame him, there’s so many handcrafted airports now, I doubt anyone has memorized what is whatI

They essentially now have a general airflow physics sandbox here, with CFD being applied to the airflow at the environmental/macro level 10+km (i.e. weather, thermals/drafts, turbulence, etc), close to the aircraft surfaces at the 10cm-100cm level (this is what directly determines the flying characteristics of a particular aircraft), at the 10m-10km dist (i.e. wake turbulence), at the particle level, etc. All this airflow simulation coupled with the revamped ground handling physics (for all types of terrain including water) is going to provide for a great overall experience looks like.

To my understanding, MSFS 2020 is the sole flight simulator among the top 3 civillian flight simulators on the market now, that simulates air flow from up to 20 KM around the plane. The MSFS team wanted so simulate the atmosphere around the plane, from up to 20 KM out. That is still an amazing feature in MSFS and I am glad it's being carried over to MSFS 2024.

With the improved flight modeling and revamped ground handling in MSFS 2024, plus the 20 KM atmospheic CFD around the plane, perhaps MSFS 2024 is on the way to become the king of physics emulation for a flight simulator, something that wasn't the case for MSFS 2020.

I’m confused. Wasn’t the Grand Canyon showcase already talked about? Or was that at FSexpo?

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

All looks reeeeally nice. Strange that they didn't upload this presentation earlier. I have a concern however - looking at the bit with smoke simulation, have you noticed how unstable the helicopter was? I'm not a pilot but from videos and real observations helicopters should be way more stable than this... It was (and is) the biggest problem with them in fs2020 - too twitchy and unpredictable in my opinion...

And second - 747 400 avionics?! Wow! Personally can't stand the 747-8 but love the 400. A pity that a standard pax or cargo version will not be included but I'm sure it will be modded in no time.

The little bit we saw of the 747-400 cockpit looked very sexy

I'm getting an xbox for this one, that way i can keep the old one on my PC and use 2024 for chilling in the lounge and try to get the kids into it, feels gamey enough to get my lad into it.

It has to work on console so feels a safer bet all in all.
