This is the first time I'm seeing any footage of the actual presentation at least. I had seen the PC12 with new avionics from WT already - I feel like some of the images were already presented - but the majority I hadn't seen. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Right true, some of the images were already shown (MS/Asobo gave a set of images to content creators for sharing). But any of the videos, or any footage of Jorg/Seb/etc talking not been shared before I believe. I'm pretty sure they used that in later models. Mesaba airlines used to fly SF34s, and in my early ATC career I worked some of them. I believe they also had GNS530s in a few. I believe there was a typo though, the Sky Courier is the C408, not 405. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I had a 2400 baud modem which was so slow that when you loaded a text page, you could watch the text being downloaded line by line. Sometimes I'm still amazed that it used to take me several hours to download a wireframe airplane and now I get annoyed if a PMDG update takes more than a minute to install. Modems always made strange noises for some reason. 😄 Long after FS moved to windows, there used to be a website online for FS4 addons and scenery. You could even download FS4 itself. This was last decade, after 2010. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. October 18, 20241 yr The scope and ambition of what these guys are doing is pretty amazing imo. Really looking forward to November’s release, bugs, warts and all!

That way if it's missing key features they could be added in by modders, if not there's that reliance on hoping Asobo do it or alternatively use Sky4Sim for features that the default hasn't got, which wouldn't be ideal. It was mentioned in an interview IIRC that third parties can make 'apps' for the EFB
October 18, 20241 yr What an enjoyable presentation of everything coming. Getting pretty excited about the new version and very much looking forward to next month! Ken
October 18, 20241 yr Author I'm just spit balling here, but I noticed some interesting things on the early 2024 map they showed at the start when comparing load times with 2020 There's an airport icon where LIRF would be that has the 'new' exclamation mark on it that new airports and POIs get when you first install them from the marketplace. You can also see it over Bilbao which is a confirmed handcrafted airport coming in 2024 There's also something new in Istanbul, but a POI icon is covering it. So not sure if it's a POI or airport Edited October 18, 20241 yr by Tuskin38
October 18, 20241 yr OMG! And to think this may perform as good 2020? Stunning, truly. I would imagine it will take some time or presumably 3rd party planes from PMDG etc have had some time already to adapt to this massive change in flight modeling elements. The scope of this version is just earth-shattering, digital twin earth shattering! I made it thru 3/4 of the video and couldn't contain myself from comment any longer! Just unbelievable! What a time to be FS afficionados it's actually come much faster than I imagined. This will def pry me out of my routine in using 2020 w/ APL & SLC. I won't quit them but look forward to exploring a whole lot more with GA and even some of the career/mission ops. Decades ago started and used GA exclusively. I have to laugh when I harken back to when I upgraded Prepar3D from version 2 to 3.0. I took the EULA literally and paid $200 for it. It brought some improvements in various areas of the core sim yet about all I saw was better lighting, reflections and terrain rendering. But I hardly noticed anything very meaningful! Despite the fact I always had high end systems at least for the first half of a 4y cycle, I had to keep Autogen down to nearly Sparse when using high end airliners in Orbx sceneries and learned to fly only from Dusk to Dawn and that was in Version 4.x. Performance was just weak and 30fps was a reasonable goal then. Now look what's about to hit us. OMG! It could also mean they are redoing some of the old PG areas. Jörg said LA and Miami have new PG data for them, and they are green in the map. I wish he had talked about the map instead of just showing it.
