When 2020 launched, there was this xbox-subscription plan that you could do to get access to the base game for like 10 bucks a month or something (I think it was even less, and then you would also get access to other games as well). Is there something similar planned for 2024?

And is there a common opinion on what version of the game is best suited for more serious simmers? With the launch of 2020 I got the premium deluxe, and have gotten some pleasure out of the various extra airplanes due to mods, but for the longest time 3rd party devs had a hard time making even basic adjustments due to API-restrictions (ie. adjusting the turn radius on the nosewheel steering on the 787 so it would actually become steerable on ground). The 747-mod from Salty made the plane flyable after a year or two.

I'm a big fan of tubeliners, and I always need a 747, 787 and 320 in my hangar. I cant remember at the moment, but I believe these are part of the more moderately priced versions of 2024? And in any case, I will always buy high fidelity addons for those if available.

On the theory that,

A) it may take a while for 3rd parties to produce aircraft that take advantage of the new FS24 features and they’re released to market.

B) the default aircraft have it seems for the most part been developed by reputable 3rd party developers and are rich in systems depth, and features ,possibly even payware quality.

Then I think buying the version with the most aircraft makes more sense now than it’s ever done before.

Ive bought the collectors Edition.

I’m getting the Aviator bundle. I’ve never purchased any of the local legends so it’s a good deal and includes the ATR. Primium deluxe would have all that you are looking for but it all depends on your budget.

2024 will be on game pass just like 2020 at launch. Granted it will be the standard edition.

I will buy the Standard edition, since they (MS) has mentioned that it will be possible to buy planes from i.e the Premium Deluxe version, separately. And also the fact we can rent planes to see if it's worth buying. Please correct me if I have gotten the rent /buying thing wrong.

I don't always stop and look at airplanes.........Oh wait, Yes I do.

MSFS2024 standard version will be on Xbox Game Pass from day 1.

Just look at what the various versions offer and see if they offer something you'd like to have for the extra money. I personally don't care for superdeluxe airports (didn't buy a single payware airport for MSFS2020 and didn't even download freeware ones) and I usually only fly one plane for ages (for the last year that's been the Vision Jet): having looked at all the extra's it was pretty clear pretty soon the standard edition would suffice for me. Why pay for planes I will never fly and airports I will never visit (or don't care about if I do)?! (The Vision Jet is included in the standard edition which is great although I might, if possible, keep on using the payware version because of probable extra options.)

I'll get Premium Deluxe because I want Cessna C-172 steam gauge version and the Longitude, otherwise I would buy the standard edition.

I bought that version the last time because of that steam gauge C-172 and was pretty disappointed to see it still had a GNS in it which you were almost forced to use if you wanted to do some advanced VOR-flying. I ended up flying the C152 with an AP mod.  I won't make the same mistake again. 😉

Same... for me the Citation, 787, and SR22 make the premium edition more than worth it.

I preordered the premium deluxe.  I'm mostly a general aviation kinda guy.  I absolutely had to have the new PC24, H225 helicopter, the C408, the C404 and of course the SR22 and C700.

Since you already bought the Premium Deluxe version for 2020, if you buy the Standard Version for MSFS 2024, you will continue to get all the Premium Deluxe planes from MSFS 2020.  However, you will not receive any new planes exclusive to the Premium Deluxe version for MSFS 2024.  So I would buy the Standard Edition unless there is a plane that you really want in the MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe version.  In addition, as mentioned above, you may be able to purchase planes separately in any event.

I  have never flown a default aircraft in any sim, except a couple of times, and usually just once. So I will just get the advanced version for the added scenery.
