Fenix is now compatible with MSFS 2024 (with 4x sim rate!)

Everyone is quick to praise, However, it's buggy.

I don't know what to tell you, but I did a complete flight from EGSS to LIRQ and the Fenix performed without any bugs just like it did in 2020 last week, and it performs smoother for me in 2024. All the lights work, all the switches work for me, and I started cold and dark. I even had GSX working perfectly well with it as well. No strange graphics issues or anything. THE only issue I had were some intermittent sound issues, which are noted by Fenix as a known general bug with MSFS 2024.

This is my experience, and I know it may not be this way for everyone, but the aircraft addon is capable of performing in 2024 as such.

AMD Ryzen 9900X3D & ASUS X870E Gaming Plus MB, w/64 Gb GSkill DDR5 RAM, PNY RTX 5090 GPU, lots of SSD's and M.2 drives, HAVN  Case, Virpil VPC Panels 2 and 3, Virpil Constellation Alpha Stick, Virpil Rotor TCS Plus w/ Hawk-60 Collective grip, TM TCA Yoke Boeing Edition, TM HOTAS A-10 and F/A-18 Sticks and TM TPR Rudder pedals. Currently on Win11

I understand this is experimental for now, but I’m curious what performance everyone is getting with the Fenix? On my system it’s pretty slow, fps wise (maybe 20 or mid 20s). Admittedly this is with everything on ultra on a 4k display.

Leave the clouds on ultra and set everything else on high and go from there? I'm sure you are using frame gen with a 4090 correct?

Au contraire, mon Capitan. It's very much possible.

Oh well... yesterday I removed MSFS2020, since now I have a usable airliner in MSFS2024, and others on the way. It's all I really need from the start. But thank you for letting me know!

Dammed if I can get my throttle to work on my Thrustmaster TCA Throttle. Everything works except that.

Controller settings I have the throttle mapped the same as FS2020,Throttle Axis 1 & 2.

Any ideas ?

I had the same problem...be sure to assign the "axis" (on the left) and not the "button" when you move the levers.

Thanks Fenix. Some problem with knobs and EFB not very responsive but performance are improved in MSFS2024 on my system.

Ps: lovable to walkaround with the Fenix details

i think IFLY will be next

Start the Fenix App manually if this happens.

Thanks mate, and yes, I’m using the sim’s frame gen. In 2020 I easily get 60 fps pegged with Fenix, heavy AI traffic and bad weather in New York. So strange. I’ll have to try using high instead of ultra 👍. I watched a well known YouTuber that did just that for better performance.

Fenix seems very buggy in 2024. For example, I can't pull on any of my knobs. Only push.

Which interaction mode are you using ("lock" or "legacy")?

I find the Airbus push-pull knobs to be pretty fiddly in "lock" mode. If this is what you're using, maybe try "legacy" instead? (I believe this is in the settings under "Accessibility".)

Flying it now at night, it will require a special configuration (like MSFS) for the Thrustmaster Airbus throttle quadrant but otherwise seems fine. Horrible night lighting -global issue- and the aircraft selection screen is also horrible, but these are not Fenix's fault.

I had the same issue with the night lighting-washed out. You need to adjust your monitor's Gamma curve, or contrast setting since the sim does not have a gamma setting at all. MSFS 2020  night lighting is superb in comparison.

Good food for thought.

OTOH, the FSR500 is fully v2020 native and appears to run flawlessly in v2024 (at least so far).

I think part of this situation is that some dev teams are generating "cleaner code" that is better aligned with Asobo's framework (and that would include Fenix for the significant part that lives in the sim.

I think there's a lot to this.

Asobo did intend to ensure backwards compatibility, but it makes sense that that would work better for addons that restrict themselves to well-documented techniques. The closer you get to the "edges" of the SDK's behavior envelope, if you will, the more likely there will be issues.

The more I see of PMDGs ongoing situations, the more I have a feeling that their toolbox is mostly filled with hammers - if you get my drift.

I had the same impression back when they were trying to get the 737 out for MSFS 2020. It seems as if they may have their mind set on doing things a particular way, when that way may not be a particularly good way of doing things in MSFS 2024.

I'll try messing up with nVidia settings for the sim, i use the monitor for a lot of stuff and didn't really want to change them. Thanks for the tip!

I seriously don't think your system is the problem but more to do with MS2024 if you are using it, it should be much better performance than 2020 but I can't say I'm not using 2024 yet. Most streamers I have seen have gain drastic performance in 2024 in their opinion over 2020.
