Every day is another day performance wise.

Every day is another day performance wise..

It's driving me nuts.

Monday EHRD with the Fenix 320/Inibuild 320N parked I have  stable 60FPS no stutter what so ever.

Tuesday same scenario it's a mess. Stutter and stutter. FPS down to 15 FPS with every change of view.

Wednesday same scenario.....

etc.

So it seems here in the Netherlands you never now if today MSFS 2024 will be playable or not.
Or is this only happening to me ?

MSFS 2020 is so smooth

MSI Tomahawk Z790, I7-13700K, DDR5 6000mhz, MSI 4090, 3x SSD 980 PRO, Corsair 360 Liguid CPU cooler, Corsair H1200V2 power.

Well, this is one of the reasons why I am happy that I postponed my hardware upgrade to Q2 2025 (around), hopefully it will then be clear if a reliable and constant performance in MSFS2024 can be expected or not and if X3D CPUs are still leading or not.

No, you are not alone !

Since yesterday I can't use MSFS 2024, "Your bandwidth....😜", as soon as I click on Fly Now.
Tried with a VPN to no avail.
Speedtest shows 935.87 Mbps, so it doesn't come from my side and during the past week performances were excellent.
Go figure...

Your hardware upgrade will do nothing about the fact that the major problem is a streaming problem of the data you need to be able to play.
As long that it isn't guaranteed that it's stable, fluctuations in performance will be our deal, no CPU/GPU combo will solve that.

Day before yesterday I was setting up a bit of the controls and ran a few test flights after some of the changes. The first 2 flights (always the same) were super smooth, the 3rd one had serious hick-ups and jumping FPS all over.
The 4th one just kept me staring at the spinning circle without even starting. All that with the same hardware. It's not the computer who say's no, it's M$ server/connections who say no.

I have watched a number of streams now where the arrival airport is a blurry mess. It is such a let down to complete a flight like that.

I started having issues last night with crashes when attempting to load in a flight. Turns out it two addons I just purchased causing the crash, FSHUD and GSX.

If I tried to start either I would immediately crash. As long as I didn’t start those programs up I was fine. So weird.

Apart from the hardware or the connection, this sim or similar any software seems to perform and comform better after few starts. Even if everything stays the same ,   the same hardware, sim, scenery and the aircarft gets better after few starts. This is what I noticed from other flight sims, MSFS2020 and MSFS2024. I always give few starts before judging.

Intel i7-9700K - AMD 7900 XT (VRAM 20GB) - 32 Gb Ram - SSD Drive - Win10 x64 - Samsung 43" 4K TV - Quest 3 VR

No luck here.
I stopped Malwarebytes, removed all addons with Addon Linker, tried with and without VPN, restarted the PC and FS a dozen times and I still can't load a flight.
MSFS 2020 runs normally.

Dumpster fire cannot be cured. We need local storage of the sim. Only solution, only answer. Wait for it.

Well, that is basically exactly what I wrote, but thanks 😉

It is our job to hold MS/Asobo to account for this disaster.

The longer this architecture is there, the longer they will keep losing simmers.

And even though X Plane has lousy graphics, under it all it feels more like a sim and at least the resources are stored locally.

I’ve had a few flights where my FPS will be great around 70 and suddenly it will slow down to 10…this is with Frame Generation on.  Often it resolves itself in a few minutes, and usually it’s at the beginning of the flight, but last night my helicopter fell out of the sky when it happened.

The sim itself has been loading and performing very well on my 60mb broadband since late last week.

I haven't had any actual crashes and performance is rather better than 2020 imo.

However this does mean I can now enjoy the myriad of bugs and unfinished stuff that suggests putting '2024' in the title meant it had to be got out the door now rather than let it cook for a few more months.......

I don't mind really. It's a journey🙃

If you purchased add-ons from the MSFS Marketplace, there is a possibility those add-ons are causing problems for you. The problem is, the Marketplace is disabled at the moment so you can't go in and delete those add-ons.  They are supposed to give the ability to delete those add-ons soon, before Christmas I think.  There is a workaround that somebody suggested in the MSFS forums, but honestly, as a software developer, I don't recommend you do this workaround: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/stuck-at-97/664907/790

Although I posted the link to this workaround, it may cause you further problems down the road with later patches, so that's why I don't recommend you do it.  Best is to wait for the MSFS team to issue a patch to fix the problem of add-ons purchased from the MSFS marketplace that are causing problems.

Now if you didn't purchase anything from the MSFS marketplace, then please ignore what I wrote, it probably doesn't apply to you.

I have never liked X plane since the first day I saw it decades ago, but if they ever pull the plug on  MS 2020, I think I would be tempted to give it a try.
