BATC Traffic coming to all users imminently

This is one awesome ATC addon. It's the best purchase I've made since REX Accu-seasons.

  • I love the progress. Keep in mind it's only half a year old. They've come a long way since the beginning

  • I can vouch for the BATC traffic, it's nice. It can use FSLTL, AIG and FSTraffic models if you have any of them installed.

Yes, it all has pros and cons. At the same time - if you're at an airport scenery that does not reflect real life (try KORD and report back) you will see aircraft taxi in the grass where taxiways have

This may sound like a dumb question, but bear with me.....if I purchase and use Beyond ATC, does it take control of my massive AIG database and use the flightplans and models in that software without me having to run the AIG Traffic Controller? I have also been watching some videos, and it seems to use its own ATC window. Is that correct? The new price of $29.99 is very tempting. I have stopped using the default AI engine because it is rubbish. I saw one of those "spinning planes" yesterday trying to take off at the new Atelic LPMA Madeira

Models - yes. I have AIG-only set-up that I use with either PSXT or BATC

Flightplans - no. BATC is utilizing its own database derived from FR24 historical data.

9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung,  AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

So, my next question would be.....is the BATC FR24 historical database as extensive as that provided in the AIG package? In other words, will I be getting versions of all of the flightplans that I have now?

EDIT: The Beyond ATC Help Centre states the following...

To start your flight preparation, you’ll need to create a flight plan using Simbrief.

Is that required? I normally create my relatively simple flightplans directly in the PMDG 737 FMS.

BATC uses one week worth of flightdata from (IIRC) FR24 from April this year (though others say its from February). I don't know how many fp's AIG has. So BATC does change the traffic depending on the day and time you set in the sim (which is really great in case you don't always want to (or can) fly at real time) but it'll always be flights from that one week.

April?!!! I thought they are changing their DB constantly.

No, They bought one week of data and are using it all the time. Perhaps they'll buy another week of data next year, who knows. Anyway, everyone who is using BATC is flying in that same week of April, you could say. 😉 Of course the actual flights and used procedures are all real life weather dependant.

Just did my first flight with this traffic feature..pretty cool!  I am used to PSXT and will still use it at times  (I don't use ATC on every flight) but this is a great improvement.  Make sure you don't have Premium voices for your traffic or you will run out quick...ask me how I know...😄

I'm quite sure FR24 will charge an arm and a leg for a complete week of worldwide real traffic data. So no.

Yep. Full flight LSZH-LOWW (1 hour) did cost me 60,000 characters

They do. BATC plans on updating, however, but not sure when.

Data is from February this year by the way

The FR24 database is basically every IFR flight in the world from that week earlier this year. So I'd say that's at least as extensive as AIG, even more maybe.

And yes you need to file a plan using Simbrief.

....and activate Live Weather. That could be a bit of a stumbling block for me.

Yes. I'd really like to use BATC ATC with PSXT in historical mode with AS. So far, live weather only.

It’s funny how used I’ve become to there not being other traffic that ATC considers.  I had to call off my push back because ATC told me told hold for crossing traffic…very cool.

I need to get out of my old habits, I would always push back assuming there was nothing behind me as normally there was no movement, just planes sitting at gates.

Yesterday atc gave clear instructions to a CRJ taxiing to gate. I was just concentrating on a checklist once I'd been cleared for pushback. I was swinging onto the taxi line and there's the CRJ sitting there 50ft from the aircraft waiting to pass my gate as instructed. I just imagined the pilot swearing into the mic! 😅

This app has given me a new lease of life in the sim.
