I used Orbx central to upgrade and problem is it erases my custom cameras 😞  .

Always back up the "_prefs.txt" file if it contains your custom cameras! Or don't update it in the first place! ☝️

  • No. Zibo's FM is quite customized by means of a plugin in order to attain book values within the 738's flight envelope. Back in XP11, it also worked arounnd a few X-Plane limitations and bugs, but I d

Not really.  That file shouldn't have been part of install or update in the first place.  It is meant to be created by XP if it is missing. I don't understand why Orbx included that.  Zibo update doesn't touch _prefs.txt and neither most of the other aircrafts including those updated by Skunkcrafter.

System Spec 2: AMD Radeon RX 7900XT, Intel I-9 9990K, Res 3840x1080, HP Reverb G2

Why do you use Orbx to update these aircraft? Doesn't the Skunkcrafts updater do the job? Or simply fetching the files manually from one of the repositories?

That is not true because it even in the Skymetix installation guide for when you have to update Zibo to a new full release there are files you need to backup including the prefs.txt.

This is from the Skymetix Zibo manual that also applies to Levelup:

Important files to backup:
a) Liveries folder. This is important if you have any custom liveries installed or if you
are using custom settings for the default Zibo liveries

b) b738_prefs.txt / b738_4k_prefs.txt, only backup if you are using the default XP11
camera system with predefined views and you will cry if you lose it, otherwise skip
this step.

c) b738_vrconfig.txt / b738_4k_vrconfig.txt, only backup these files if you use VR
and have modified it otherwise skip these files.
d) Clist.txt, only backup this file if you use XChecklist and are using a newer or
modified version than the default one.
e) X-Camera_b738.csv / X-Camera_b738_4k.csv, only backup this file if you have
them, this is your xCamera presets.
f) X-RAAS.cfg & ND_Overlays.cfg, only backup this file if you have them.
g) X-KeyPad_b738 and X-Keys, only backup this file if you have them.
h) Realview.cfg, only backup this file if you have it, this is your Realview presets

You're right when it comes to the incremental updates. They do not touch it, but Orbx is not releasing the incrementals unless there is a arrangement to receive parcel files which are basically patched files but requires files from Zibo that they are not allowed to distribute on their own. In Levelup case, its a full release to update the changes. The option is still there to do it yourself like we have been doing. For those who don't know or is not comforable is doing so, then Orbx method it their best approach but you still would need to backup your files from this list or the whole install before updating. It just a matter or copying the Threshold_Level_up_XP12  folder.

The ones I highlighted are the main ones I alway back up, the rest I just let it overwrite unless there is something I need.

Depends. Some aircraft come with a "_prefs.txt" that already includes custom cameras which saves a few minutes of work. That the file should not be part of an update I agree with.

Any idea if this is gonna be updated? Latest Zibo are noted on Discord to be incompatible with LevelUp and Zibo has gone through quite a few iterations lately, including radar stuff with 12.3 release, but I haven't been flying LevelUp since it was only updated in August. Any insight from anyone?

There’s been a couple recent articles about an update in the near future, with notable enhancements and fixes.

Haven’t seen anything like an estimated date, of course.

There is a video with lastest update going around. Just not released yet

As I already wrote in Threshold discord channel, I'm slightly confused about seeing liveries on .ORG for LevelUp 737 V2. Made me think V2 is out already.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

That’s excellent. 1.0.3 flew well until 12.3 changed things. Looking forward to 2.0! For now, Zibo doesn’t disappoint. Also did a CYYZ-KORD this morning. Oof. Heavy snow and iced over asphalt at CYYZ, wind 17 knots, gusting to 26. Moderate turbulence almost all the way to  almost FL380. Descent into Chicago was immediately into clouds with mild turbulence and poor visibility. RVR 1000, rain… That sort of weather I haven’t seen in a while. Radar was absolutely instrumental there. Had to make some adjustments to route to avoid turbulence.

Stunning version 2, thanks. I didn't even know that plane. 😀
