Is Beyond ATC Functional?

FSLTL

FSLTL is AI and uses a ton of 4k liveries which will definitely eat into your performance. BATC shouldn't produce enough traffic to cause much of a hit, but with FSLTL it just might.

Huge update just dropped. Some nice things in there, haven’t tried myself yet but especially the shortcuts on STARs is something I was missing for a while.

It's worth every penny, especially if you fly airliners. Sure, it isn't perfect but they are actively working the issues and updates are plentiful. I won't fly without it.

To be clear, it's an amazing piece of software - a must-have for all IFR fliers, especially airline ops. From a comms standpoint, it's as good as you'll get unless you go to VATSIM. Add to that an AI traffic engine that is more intelligent than FSLTL and AIG Controller. So much so that he's even figured out how to get the AI traffic to rotate for take off and pitch before landing so no more 3 point takeoff and landing. I was plane spotting the other day and many scenarios where the other AI engines would get stuck where no issue for BATC. Plus the HUGE bonus is that AI traffic doesn't rely on the airport's AFD so airlines park where they're supposed to in real life.

The downsides? The AI engine seems to use more resources than FSLTL or AIG - I'm using AIG models - so if you crank it up all the way, there is a noticeable performance hit. Next, the enhanced voices sound amazing and it will sound like you're listening to and interacting with real-world ATC. BUT, enhanced voices are not free and you'll end up paying to top up the voices depending on how much you fly. Finally, it is still a work in progress and, of course isn't 100% accurate - so if you're looking for things to gripe about you'll find them. It's canned ATC based on your Simbrief flightplan. And of course it's early access so bugs are bound to be encountered.

The Developer is charging only $29 for this must have software. After trying it out, I paid him $59. It's that good. After using the great PF3 for more than a decade, BATC is now my go to for 2020 and 2024. With no hope of Asobo fixing the broken ATC in either sim, with BATC I could care less.

So to answer your question, yes it's "functional". It's REALLY, REALLY, functional.

+1....I see this exactly as you did! BATC did change my immersion a lot in a positive way and I use it in VR, great tool!

I forget which aircraft I was in (think it was the A380X) but I had an issue on final and had to go-around in SYD, BATC on the other hand kept their cool, pulled me out of the muck and sent me around again with clear instructions, it was seriously impressive and was great help to a not-so-serious simmer 🙂

I had used the combination FSHUD + FSLTL before, but in that case the FSLTL injector is in use, and there are a few nuances probably in terms of performance compared to BATC which does itself the injection and only used the 3d aircraft models.

I think BATC+FSLTL performs better than FSHUD+FSLTL, although either have yet caused any severe hit in my FS 2024.

I have FS 2024 FPS throttled to 30 FPS max in NCP.

Would be nice if they had an subscription option for those who want premium voices on everything. The way I see it it would cost me a fortune to run this thing with high quality voices on all the chatter. People say SI is expensive, but this thing will be way more expensive if I want high quality voices.. Or maybe I got it wrong?

I can confirm I've gained around 20fps moving over from vanilla FSLTL to BATC with FSLTL. And to add to that, I see more traffic  movement around the taxiways, plus takeoffs and landings. Its a no brainer really.

Using premium voices all the time is complete overkill and pointless when the quality of the other option is really good. I was using premium at the airport and once I got in the air I switched over. Since I ran out of voice credits I've just continued using the basic option and its fine. Personal choice of course but I think it would be a waste of money just going premium 100% of the time.

Maybe for you its okay, I just cant stand the basic voices, they are so robotic…

So the voices are too robotic and the price for premium voices are too expensive. Theres no pleasing some people of course, which is why I said its a "personal choice". Hope you find what you need eventually.

I found what I need and that is SI, but if there was a subscription option like SI I would for sure be more intrested. Using premium voices would just be too expensive the way it is now. Thats it… Not trying to attack you or BATC. Its just that I see people complain about how costly SI is, but atleast there is premium voices all the time for a relativly fair price…

I have the feeling if someone were to do the math on how long it takes until characters are depleted in BATC with average useage and what this amounts to in cost per year, Say Intentions will probably be even more expensive.

I would be very intrested in that equation:). Im on the fence wether to try it, still waiting for VFR before jumping in though.
