Majestic Dash 8 for MSFS?

Featured Replies

I very much enjoyed piloting the Majestic Q400 and am still looking forward to its eventual MSFS release-even if the first shots of the model are bit roughish.

I'd love a 100/200/300 from a dev to go with the Majestic Q400.

I would take a majestic systems level q400 even if only at p3d visual model quality.

  • How’d you read that and get that interpretation? It works in 2020 and they’re of the same thinking as a lot of devs when it comes to 2024, new features that they’ll need to delve into.

And what is that exactly?  Are you aware their is a PBR update for the Q400 with other visual enhancements for both P3D V5 and V6?

There is NO indication of a soon to be released Q400.  I get the hope, it would certainly be on my buy list for MSFS 2024.

Yes I owned the pbr update and even simulated it years prior with tomato shade. But that update visually was still not near the level we see with other airplanes nowadays. But I accept that considering how good that plane was.

I owned this airplane and paid for it twice, but if I have to choose who I want to develop a Q400, I'd like to know we aren't going to end up with the janky integration of an externally emulated flight model light MJC had in P3D and FSX.

It was "more realistic" but sometimes the airplane would just... go somewhere else. Or there would be a disconnect between the model and simulator so anything you did was amplified by 3x and delayed by 30 seconds.

I found it to be a terrible airplane to fly, honestly. The systems and stuff were great, the W&B was intolerably annoying, and the app kinda sucked. This is one I'm okay with letting go, provided we get a good Q400 eventually, unless there are some serious QoL improvements. It was a good airplane, unfortunately the DRM and my last P3D Windows install wouldn't get along and I was unable to use the plane for 2 years, but it was a "2 legs and I won't fly that for 6 months" experience for me usually.

I had hundreds of hours in the plane and not had that happen. Many of those hours in the training edition. I appreciated the external controls with the higher resolution settings for accuracy.  the plane when proficient would fly exactly by the numbers on approach.  Weight and balance was also done nicely  especially if you flew it often.  in fact I remember there was a third party iPhone app to speed up the w and b.  My only issue was the gear pin bug.  It was recognized but never fixed .  Sometimes despite checking the plane, it would treat it like the gear pins were left in and prevent you from retracting gear.  It was intermittent and rare.  But very annoying

Hopefuly the Majestic Q400 will fly in msfs before the last Q400 will retire IRL.

Funny enough, I still have that app. Probably in the hope I still get to use it one day. I kept p3d for a long time solely for the mjc8 and the fslabs busses and concord but the stagnation of that platform made me eventually remove it.

when I read some of the comments though, I really wonder how come the likes of captain sim are not carried on a pedestal. I mean they tick the boxes for so many…great textures and external models and who cares about the rest. Probably lack some youtube “influencers” to tell everyone how they are “great”.

The renders aren't even of the Q400 within MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024. Doesn't seem like they are that close yet.  If I am being optimistic, it looks like another year at least.  More likely, it will take them more than a year.  They are so slow but then again, I think they mentioned they are working on it part time so I guess that's as fast as they can develop if they are doing it part time.

This hobby takes quite some energy and i also loved this one in P3dV5 🙂

I maybe want to go back to it but i havent had the P3D opened for at least 6 months so the learning curve is almost from scratch with it.

My eyes is now on the Kodiak but i dont fly propeller that much so will see

The WIP renders tell exactly it is a part time project, so don't expect a release soon. 😞

They might have heard someone else planning to do q400 so they come up with rough renders to tell we are working on it and discourage the new developors. There are lots of talented developers out there but if this is the case then not good and not professional.

Glad writing this post on avsim not on their forum otherwise ranting would have already started from them. Lol

At this point with the glacially slow pace, I don't know that we'll ever see it, so I'm in the camp of wanting to see another dev take this on.

It's for the same reason I'm critical of FSS dropping that incomplete EJet and squatting on the category forever. There should be more competition and we should stop treating devs like sacred cows - it's already playing out in the scenery world and I would argue it's a more healthy, robust market now, even if a few devs have gotten their feet stomped on.

competition is great.  But mostly us diehards who want the Q400.  It's not in super demand.

This might be an attempt to stop Just flight or some other talented developers from making one. They did a survey sometime ago and dash was on top of the list.

More than 5 years, just to come up with a very basic rander speaks thousand words where this project stands.

They also shared renders of 300 back in 2018-2019 era I guess. But where it is? No one knows. I don't have hopes from them. It's a dead project I think. Even if it comes, I would not have high expectations from this project as per msfs standards. Systems might be ok but not the visual model or textures. Remember when they came up with the visual expansion pack for p3d. That was just a trash, so folks keep your expectations low even if this project ever make it.

Their team is very rude and arrogant. You can't be harsh to your customers, pointing, picking and blocking them on your support forums on constructive criticism. Perfect example is Fslabs, and see how Fenix came from nowhere with such a high quality addon and best ever humble customer service. Their team need to learn from people at Fenix and ini, who listen and respect their clients. My 2 cents.

Well fenix made the a320. One of the top two most popular models. Q400 doesn’t attract as much interest. Not saying you are wrong about them hearing another developer could be coming in. Just flight also isn’t super rapid getting planes released

I enjoyed the P3D version of this as well but also had the gear pin bug!!!  ARGH lol

One of the retailers Majestic sell through is Just Flight so if they really wanted to they could pair up. If I remember correctly Majestic works with clients so the priorties were else where selling training versions. Then they lost a developer so things took a back seat. They know what they are doing and have been successful in doing so for a very long time. Its not going to be a dead project. This product was never trash. You only have to see the amount of people that flew it, from shared cockpit to streaming flights. The sounds were accurately modelled etc I wouldn't bother listening to this guy. Judging by how  you've written you're opinion I can't help but wonder why they may have been rude & arrogant. Always two sides to a story they say.

Have to admit when that happened to anyone you could just laugh.
