April 20, 20251 yr I'm just getting back into flight simming after about a 7 yr hiatus. Previously used P3D V3 or V4, can't remember, bought them both. I recently purchased V5.4 because I've spent hundreds of dollars in add-ons that are still compatible. I literally just started using it a couple of days ago. My question is, is it worth it for me to purchase MS2024 at this time? It looks beautiful, but sounds kind of glitchy. I'm not the most patient man in world and pretty novice at fixing software problems. I know I'll probably get it eventually, but is today the time? Thanks, Tom P.S. All the opinions should be entertaining Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again
April 20, 20251 yr I moved from fs2020 and I don't regret. It's slowly but steadily progressing on the right direction, I believe. April 20, 20251 yr Just my opinion, but if you are flying P3D and don't have purchased MSFS2020, it's better off for you going directly to MSFS2024, but not now maybe. I think, as a previous user of P3Dv4.5, that you can still enjoy very much P3D, with lots of stability and the good AI Traffic simulation that I used to spot parked at some busy airports, being MDPC (Punta Cana International in Dominican Republic) one of them. To me, MSFS2024 is not fully ready yet. April 20, 20251 yr Depends on what kind of flying you like to do.. For GA flying, 2024 is really good, and no need to wait. Quite amazing to go on cross country flights and have great scenery all the way, without buying any addons. Bert
April 20, 20251 yr After the MSFS2020 debacle I held off on buying it for probably 9 months until it settled down and I now have a rock-solid sim. 'If you don't learn from history you are forced to re-live it' goes the old saying (or something like it). I sat back and watched MSFS2024 arrive knowing full well it would be no better than 2020's. I wasn't disappointed. Upstairs I have a voucher ready to purchase MSFS2024 that my darling daughters bought me for Christmas. I have been sitting, waiting and might go for it pending the reviews and assessments of Sim Update 2. I still suggest that the streaming model is the Achilles heel of this sim for so many without a decent internet feed (which I don't have). If MS offered 'hard' data I would probably buy it tomorrow. Meanwhile, I sit and wait.

Since you are a "novice" I would wait 3 more years. Just kidding. Try it out and see for yourself. Just kidding. It's on sale at CDkeys for about $50 USD. Get your copy today! MSFS

April 20, 20251 yr I have 2 computers running 2024 and other than the first week I've had zero issues on either PC. I've been into flight sim for 40 years. I think the people having issues have a not so good PC, internet connection or they are not hard-core simmers and they are using the very un realistic career mode. I prefer to plan my own flights. I probably use 2024 75% of the time. I only boot 2020 to fly a PMDG or Ifly bird. I only fly Buses in 2024. Its a far superior simulator. April 20, 20251 yr I am going to wait a few more months at least until 2024 is settled down, in the mean time 2020 is working great.
April 20, 20251 yr I would recommend trying it and judge for yourself. DON'T take advice especially from someone who hasn't purchased or even tried it. I find most of these people's comments untrue. April 20, 20251 yr Author Thanks for all the input. One very important bit of information I left out was all of my flying is GA, usually anywhere from 1 hr to 3 hr flights. I don't ever see myself getting into commercial jets or long haulers. Bert P mentioned it was fine for GA flying. I may wait for SU2 to finish beta testing though. Thanks Again, Tom Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again

Thanks Again, Tom Since you are flying exclusively GA, I would say by all means get MS2024 now. For GA flying it is unparalleled, as its most important scenery advance vis-a-vis MS2020 is the ground textures, which are mind-blowingly realistic. Why wait for something better down the road, when you can fly now like you've never flown before and have a truly immersive experience? More generally, and going back a couple of decades to early MSFS editions, I have never understood the argument that it's better to wait for perfection than enjoy what's there now.
