May 12, 20251 yr I have owned numerous versions of MSFS over the years. A fun hobby to be entertained by. I own MSFS 2024 and it is a disappointment. 6 months later and it is still a hot mess. Fixes and improvements move at the speed of mud. Growing frustrated I am thinking of getting X-Plane 12. I will hang out there until MSFS 2024 gets sorted. How many of you have both simulators? Has anyone gone from X-Plane to MSFS? How many have gone from MSFS to X-Plane? I know the graphics of X-Plane are much weaker than MSFS but the flight physics of X-Plane are so good that it is study level and it can be FAA certified if required. May 12, 20251 yr X-Plane looks terrible. I installed the demo some time ago - uninstalled it within 15 minutes.
May 12, 20251 yr I fly sims to stay current (not certified, just my own procedures). I use VR and found Xplane 12 to be lacking in VR support. And the graphics are very dated. For now, MSFS20 is the best option. May 12, 20251 yr Maybe what @alanw2005 needs is the right add-ons for MSFS2020 or 2024. Every other sim option is a downgrade. MSFS

May 12, 20251 yr When FSX stopped being developed, I tried X-Plane and just couldn't do it. So, I went with P3D until XP11 came out. It was very good, and XP12 looks pretty good as well. But, I switched on day 1 to MSFS 2020 and then 2024 and won't go back to XP unless MSFS stops being developed. As far as having two sims and keeping them up-to-date, that goes with that - no thanks.
