  • Hi folks, Yes, the issue that was formerly preventing MSFS (2020) from shutting down properly after exiting the sim and required manual executable termination from Task Manager is now resolved wi

  • I wish they would leave 2020 alone. It works fine now.

Because it's a server and client architecture.  Windows is not really a server and client architecture. You can use Windows without an internet connection. A lot of MSFS 2020 heavily depends on the se

I used Atmos in the beta and seemed to work fine

Thanks!

Does this "digital twin" as far as ground texturing goes mean that MSFS 2020 will also get different seasonal textures?

Wow 15 GB of updates in the Content Manager.

So, flying the 172. The 'highway in the sky' magenta rectangles are interesting and nice, but I would like the option to turn them off. I don't really want them on all the time. Haven't found how to turn them off... yet. Otherwise, all is very well after the update.

OK, I got it. PFD Options/SVT/ toggle 'pathways'. Nice.

Just downloaded- man was the download quick!

Sounds  you didn't download the content manager updates.

What exactly are the Content Manager world updates? If they are all PG, then I do not need to bother.

And all of my graphics options were reset.  (sigh)

Yes, I've long since recorded all of them so I can easily reset (once bitten...) but cheez whiz.

Yes, it still works with 2020, but we've been developing an update alongside the SU16 builds and are currently testing for full compatibility. We'll share an official update as soon as testing is complete.

Awesome Rgr that.   Thank You Sir & Happy Landings

So all this hype about them breaking 2020 turned out to be nonsense because now we have updated maps and better textures than we had before. As I said before, I think the water tile issues have gotten worse, but hopefully they’ll fix those. I know they probably want all of us on 2024, but I think they also know some of us won’t bother on any sim if one is broken and the other doesn’t perform well.

I think the seasonal textures in 2024 are just a hue shift or something that's done on a fly, not separate textures. So I doubt it.

Hello rjquick,

MSFS 2024 launched with newer, updated Bing Maps data compared to what was previously available for MSFS (2020). With SU16, both versions of the sim now use this newer data source instead of MSFS 2024 having the updated Bing Maps imagery and MSFS (2020) using an outdated map dataset.

Thanks,

SeedyL, MSFS Community Manager

Prior to SU16 I was using the MapEnhancement tool with the "Enable High LOD" option enabled in order to get the latest version of the Bing maps in MSFS 2020.  I understand that now with SU16 the "Enable High LOD" option no longer works.  But if SU16 is now using the latest version of the Bing maps, it sounds like I don't even need to use the MapEnhancement tool at all to get the latest version of the Bing maps.

Yep, Map enhancement is now obsolete.

Great!!  One less app to launch when making a flight!
