Fenix A320: is it the right time to buy?

Featured Replies

You can’t go wrong with the Fenix. BFU update coming out soonish. Some bugs crept up and need sorting. Fenix have confirmed they have a list of things they want to bring to the aircraft some of these are features FSLabs offer. If you want to just get one variant or all three it’s worth it.

Probably one of the best planes I’ve ever flown in a simulation. 100% go ahead.

No suprise BOB. Like all your posts. If its not PMDG or MSFS2020 its boring and no good! Time to take off the blinders!

  • Fenix is a reliable ship to fly and works fine in 2024.. soon the BFU will make it native to 2024 which will bring many blessings for us! You'll enjoy it even now i think...

Fenix in MS2024 is the only aircraft I use.

For me also:
Peter / LSZH

Windows 11 / MSFS 2024 from MS-Store and Fenix A320

I began flying Boeing aircraft decades ago. When 2020 came out, I purchased the Fenix A 320 because it was the only payware airliner available at that time. Since then, I have purchased  the PMDG 737-800, the 777 ER, and the iFly 738 Max. I haven't flown the Fenix in months; I just got bored with it.  YMMV.

Since the days of FSX I've been flying Boeing only. Now I'm on FS2024  and maybe it is time for me to learn Airbus so I'm considering the Fenix A320. On their blog, I can read (November 24, 2024):

"This update brings initial compatibility with MSFS 2024... This is not simply the 2020 version ported, we’ve rebuilt the package with the 2024 SDK... However, a disclaimer before we continue: We consider MSFS 2024 support entirely experimental at this stage and DO NOT consider 2024 compatibility an “advertised” feature... We will not be accepting customer support tickets in the 2024 environment at this time"

1) Knowing that I'm doing normal operations (no fancy flight, no failures, etc.), short flights (LFPO-LSGG), can I buy now or should I wait a bit? Any heads-up or attention point?

2) I've been away a couple of years but from what I could read, Fenix is the way to go right? Apparently there is no much talk anymore about FS Labs. Looks like they have been surpassed?

Works fine for me, alongside BATC, GSX Pro and Flight Sim First Officer in 2024, their latest blog also states that in the not to distant future the release version for 2024 will be available alongside an A320 NEO, they also stated that they have pretty much rebuilt the flight systems from scratch and that they are much more realistic. I still use 2020, which has had some drastic improvements, not least to the graphics. I have 2024, but in my opinion, it's not quite ready for the sort of experience I want.

No doubt! I would recommend the Fenix over FSLabs for sure.

I have the FSLabs for MSFS2020 and the Fenix in both 2020 and 2024. The FSlabs is every bit as good as the Fenix in terms of systems and  modelling. The only downside of FSlabs is you only get the A321 and at the moment its only in MSFS2020. If I had to choose one it would be Fenix for these reasons.

I am a Boeing to Airbus convert, and it is ALL because of the Fenix. I thoroughly enjoy the Fenix Airbus, and the more I learn about it the more enjoyment I get with it. I've had it since first release, then bought the new variant addons (the 319 and 321) when they were released and have been flying them all in MSFS 2020 and 2024. Also, the developer is first class, and you can tell they have an absolute love for the Fenix project. The BFU everyone is mentioning is in reference to something the developer posted not too long ago which he called the Big Fenix Update (BFU). It covers a TON of things, bug fixes, tweaks, new features....so so much. Anyhow, I fly the Fenix mostly in 2024 now, and it works and performs very well for me there. Also, GSX is very well integrated with the Fenix, and as others have said, also with Simbrief and Navigraph. I think the Fenix has one of the best EFB tablets in the MSFS world, but that is subjective of course. And to echo what someone else said, the tutorials that helped me the most learn the Fenix were from 320 SimPilot.

AMD Ryzen 9900X3D & ASUS X870E Gaming Plus MB, w/64 Gb GSkill DDR5 RAM, PNY RTX 5090 GPU, lots of SSD's and M.2 drives, HAVN  Case, Virpil VPC Panels 2 and 3, Virpil Constellation Alpha Stick, Virpil Rotor TCS Plus w/ Hawk-60 Collective grip, TM TCA Yoke Boeing Edition, TM HOTAS A-10 and F/A-18 Sticks and TM TPR Rudder pedals. Currently on Win11

V1-Simulations, a real life A320 pilot, and one of the most popular flight sim streamers on Youtube, rates the Fenix A320 as the best A320 add-on for any simulator:

That video compares the Fenix A320 in MSFS 2024 to the Toliss in XP 12.  But I remember somewhere in the Youtube comments, V1 says the Fenix is better than the P3D FSLabs as well.  I don't think V1 has tried the FSLabs in MSFS 2020 though.

BUT (!!) ... in the meantime, you could learn the ropes on the (free) Flybywire A320.

As is often the case here I am the odd man out.  A couple years ago I wanted to familiarize w/ Airbus having never been there using almost all Boeing in the past decades.  So went with the FBW 320nx and really like it.  I broke down a month ago and bought Fenix, which was around $66 US, to use in 2024.  To be honest, after many flights in the Fenix I can certainly see why the accolades, but I have a bit of buyer's remorse for it in spite of this.  I think the VC is much nicer to look at, the EFB easier to use and nicer to look at in the FBWnx, and in terms of flying the FBW it's great, or was in 2020.  Part of the remorse is that it took nothing to hop into Fenix and fly it they are so similar.   In fact, if I could get a refund for Fenix, I would, and put it towards I-Fly 737 Max.

Thank you Adamski_NZ for the alternative and progressive solution. And yead I know it's gonna change from Boeing, that's the purpose 😉

Too late to the show, not enough market differentiators to make it worth splitting the ecosystem in my opinion.
used to be a great product, my favorite back in the day, but they entirely missed the boat

FSL weren't really surpassed, they just released their A321 into a market that already had an excellent A320 series, and many people haven't forgiven them over the incident. I chose FSL's A321 over the Fenix because I thought FSL needed some love and the A321 had native integration with GSX Pro.

If I was in the market for an Airbus A320 series right now, I'd wait to see who releases their 'official' 2024 version first.

No worries, it’s always the right time to buy the Fenix. Great product and great developer team that keeps up delivering high quality and being transparent.

I don't own the Fenix version. But from messages here and there, I know that there are several configuration options that can improve fps performance.
