March 28Mar 28 hey everyone, I bought the SWS kodiak for MSFS 2020 through justlfight but there is no 50% discount showing for teh 2024 version. Am I missing something? AMD 5830X Nvidia RTX 3060 Win 11
March 28Mar 28 Well. Same old problems on this 2024 version as the 2020 version amphibian plane. Casters aren't animated so when you turn the aircraft on the ground the front wheels stay straight as you turn, the water rudders are animated backwards so when the rudders are indicating up in the cockpit they are down in the exterior view, they actually work as per the cockpit indication though. I'm REALLY surprised this made it past the SWS developers but.... Ground handling still sucks with the amphibian, haven't even tried the wheel version yet, I just loaded my Black Square Caravan and continued. At least there are a WHOLE bunch of different configurations if thats your thing. Really disappointed in the Kodiak so far, I was hoping..... I’ll ask the obvious question, which is the best one to get Kodiak or caravan? 787 captain. Previously 24 years on 747-400.Technical advisor on PMDG 747 legacy versions QOTS 1 , FS9 and Aerowinx PS1.

If you got the 2020 version from JustFlight you should have an email from them with a link to the discount code. If not, go into the downloads page of your JustFlight account and click on the Kodiak. At the bottom of the page you should see the discount code which can be applied at the checkout process.

I was just watching a video which said the flight modelling was better, and in fact really good on the kodiak so that made me stop and think. 787 captain. At this time I'd get the Caravan. The Kodiak is a more modern, sexier plane but the Black Square Caravan nailed it. Although you can check the oil and the plane does get dirty, the plane doesn't save these things, as far as I know, so you basically start with a new plane every time you get in it. The Black Square comes with an awesome efb tablet thingy where you can maintain the plane and see your actual wear and tear as well as load the plane and repair it, the Kodiak uses the stock msfs tablet. I want to give SWS a chance so I just took the wheeled version for a flight, it is much better than the amphibian, I'm glad I got it at the discount price(I had the 2020 version). Another feature the Caravan has is the ability to plug in headphones with the headphone jack( I like to listen to music while I fly. I still prefer the Caravan but I am glad I have the prettier, more modern Kodiak, it is done very well and the detail is as good or better than the Caravan(if you're a rivet counter)..... I love the way the turbulence is modeled on the Caravan, the elevator actually moves and flutters while you taxi. Just one more little detail that makes it more emersive. Wow, and here I thought we were here to sit in the cockpit and fly the things instead of watching external movies of ourselves doing it in the absolute least used variant…

I’ve had the Kodiak from Day 1, and just got the upgrade yesterday. Also have it in X-Plane (with the Reality Expansion Pack). I don’t have the Caravan yet, but based on my Turbine Duke, I’d recommend going with the Caravan. its not that the Kodiak is bad, it’s much improved, actually And for the $20 upgrade price, its actually rather 👍 it’s just that Black Square is undeniably top shelf. More expensive, yes. but definitely worth it (esp for an IRL pilot like yourself). Edited March 28Mar 28 by UrgentSiesta

I will say (from my one brief session doing laps around the pattern) that the flight model has been significantly improved. It handles in a nuanced and fluid manner, and turbine lag is definitely present. It’s far better than it used to be, but then again, I wasn’t too satisfied with the physics until…yesterday. The Turbine Duke was sublime from the very beginning. Edited March 28Mar 28 by UrgentSiesta

I’ve seen a YouTube review say the kodiak had a very good flight modelling better than the caravan , that’s what got me interested. I love all the black square machines I own, but I can relate when people comment that they find the flight modelling to be a bit bland on BS aircraft. I quite fancy an amphibian for the Scottish highlands, I was disappointed to learn early today when googling it that Loch Lomond Seaplanes ceased trading last year, they used to fly a caravan. 787 captain. Unless, as mentioned above, you've got to have the G1000 in the cockpit. Personally, I prefer the TDS GTN750.. The Caravan is a joy to fly. Edited March 28Mar 28 by Bert Pieke Bert
