April 3Apr 3 Not sure where Contrail is based but Just Flight being a UK business, it is a bank holiday (public holiday) in the United Kingdom today so they may not be working. That why I posted it 🙂 If this is the 2.1.7 update of a couple of days ago, the below is all that was changed: v2.1.7 – 06 April 2026 General Amphibian Users can now climb on the floats during preflight Visuals Exterior Fixed amphibian chock spacing Flight Model Fixed some erroneous exit definitions in the flight model configuration
April 9Apr 9 2.1.6 had the flight model changes, particularly trim sensitivity. 2.1.7 was very minor. There is a bigger update on the way I believe. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base
April 10Apr 10 The Kodiak 100 is now available on the marketplace (latest 2.1.7 version). Upgrade fee was $20. Just picked it up and started a skydiving company in career mode, this should be fun!
April 10Apr 10 I saw this in the marketplace finally. So, is it worth $20 to upgrade? The big thing is I already own the Black Square Caravan so not sure how much time the Kodiak will get. I get that they are very different avionics. I'll probably pick it up seeing as they've made some improvements, although still more to come? ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
May 2May 2 Author OK....We are down to the 'about to be' new release, named V2 (we are on ver 2.1.7 now) , which is said to correct the flight modelling of the bush-type landing scenarios on surfaces different from commercial paved airport runways. This incudes a redesign of the gear suspension code. I think SWS was mentioning this months ago, with the latest release expectation to be around the end of April into May. It is now May, and they haven't hinted at a release date for V2 that I could find on any other forums like discord etc. I'm still waiting... Anyone have info on this ? Yes I like this plane in 2024 in all respect other than short final and landing. When I disconnect the autopilot the plane always begins to fall from the sky and turns into a wishy-washy mess of flight controls with barely any authority (at the correct speeds, which in this aircraft are surpringly low). I have to push power forward, unrealistically and immediately trim up / pull the elevator back, to prevent the sink. It almost feels like the autopilot is failing to use pitch trim, holding the elevator at an extreme deflection, which then gets 'released' suddenly. As I got it from the Marketplace and files are encrypted, I can't check this in the systems.cfg. If anyone has the unencrypted version, could you check the [autopilot] section of the systems.cfg, to see if 'PITCH_USE_ELEVATOR' is incorrectly set to '1', or 'PITCH_USE_TRIM' is incorrectly set to '0' ? As usual, the Black Square handles like a Mercedes sedan - very solid and extremely predictable. And dare I say “easy”…? The Kodiak is quite a bit more lively - in a good way. One needs to stay more on top of it with stick and rudder as well as power. IMHO, handling is satisfying now, where I never cared for it before. IIRC, there is another flight model update WiP which will add in v2024 fuselage CFD, etc. So, firstly, YES it’s absolutely worth the $20 upgrade fee and I’d buy it again for sure. Second, compared to the BS Caravan…? IMHO it’s as per usual. The Caravan most likely has deeper engine and systems simulation across the board, and is another great addon that I’d also happily buy again. The thing is just that the Kodiak is more fun to fly while maintaining good fidelity. I.e., I feel more involved, which is a good thing because I generally prefer to hand fly 🤙
May 6May 6 What is the trick to getting the exterior click spots to work. I managed to remove the prop covers but no luck with chocks or opening doors etc. the remains an arrow? Mark CYYZ

I have to get really close, and even then it usually takes a couple clicks to find it. Kinda annoying.
