Ok then cobber. Keep up the good work and don't drink too much.

One glass every few days, can’t go wrong. Try it to take the edge off.

Bob you seem to hate this piece of software so much - honest question - why are you persisting with it at all, let alone being part of the beta? Why not just go back to 2020? You can revisit 2024 in six months time or later, or even never. What is it that keeps you from uninstalling it?

Well St., I am running 2020 alongside as it is the only way I can get a decent flight out of it.

But as to why I haven't installed 2024, maybe it is because I paid good money for the Premium version last year that I don't want to see wasted, and I live in hope that every SU and beta will deliver some signs of progess.
The rate of progress is so slow that I doubt if we will be at 2020 levels of stability even after the 1 year anniversary.

But as others have said, I am not torturing myself, I have lots of other things in life and MSFS is only a small part of that, but I am extremely disappointed and with the state of the sim, and although I don't hate the software, I have only disdain for the developers.

Anyway, peace!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

So it's the old 'because I've paid for it' argument. Ok then

I will leave you to it and go back to my Starship 🙂

?  Old?  Maybe, but is that not still a valid reason then?  I paid for it, can't get a refund now, and would very much like it to be better than what it is, not least because I still want to be able to use it with less problems eventually.

So, I am not sure why you have to come back with such a snide remark, especially if you are enjoying the sim so much yourself. It is almost like you are sneering at people who are having a less than optimum experience.

Anyway, I am glad you are enjoying the Starship, it is an excellent product for sure.

Superheroes like bobcat999 are the reason why I can continue to enjoy flying in MSFS 2020 without having to worry that I am missing out on anything.

Maybe because it's such a silly argument. That is why you are sticking with it regardless of how much you hate it? Because you have paid for it? If I gave you the money for it would you uninstall it and happily go back to 2020? Why don't you do as I suggest if you still want to be able to use it eventually and uninstall it for now. It is obviously nowhere near good enough for you as of today so it will probably be many months before you will be able to get any joy from it. If you are happy with 2020, and I seem to remember you were, then consider the money you paid for 2024 as an investment and park it for a while.

edit - Bob, are you flying the Starship in 2020 or 2024?

The sunk-cost fallacy is real...

It takes some work to live in the BETA world. For me it is worth it. SU2 sim is so much inferior to SU3. For instance to limit fps to a number you have text edit a cfg file in SU2. A simple option slider in SU3. So you can tweak it up and down almost instantly to find the sweet spot.

Not yet!  But it really interests me, and the first impressions of others seem quite positive.  Certainly nothing to put me off.

So I think as soon as work ends and the weekend comes, it is mine!  Obviously the fact that I can use it now in 2020 and later in 2024 appeals to me.

I have honestly never smiled so much when flying an aircraft in a simulator. It really is a marvel.

  Superhero!  I only wish I was, with programming skills.  I would help them fix this thing up a lot quicker if I could.  World peace would have to go on the back-burner!

Even that will be solved before 2024 is in a good state.

Lol, now that is true pessimism!

Haven't had much chance to fly lately but tonight I fired up the sim, downloaded the latest update to the beta, restarted my PC, reloaded the sim and flew the F28 from Stanstead to London City Airport.

Everything worked fine, no issues with ctd's, frame rates, controls, stutters, the autopilot or live weather.

After initially being very good,  London in 2024 simply looks peculiar; especially at dusk.

St. Pauls Cathedral seems to be illuminated internally be a giant light bulb and what is (in 2020) a thrilling approach over the heart of the city has been allowed to deteriorate into a squalid confused slum in SU2.

Other than that the current beta seems to perform very well for me...

Yeah, it seems like the recent SU betas are causing too many issues one way or another. 2020 is great to keep for the time being!
