SU3 Beta 1.5.9.0

Featured Replies

I have FSLabs 321, iFly 737 MAX, PMDG 777-300 and also a B5350i modded from a former FS 2020 default Beechcraft. Only addon I haven't installed this turn around was the INIBUILDS A350.

They were installed since 1.5.7.0, and survived 1.5.8.0 and now 1.5.9.0

I have F:\MSFS\Packages and F:\MSFS\ROLLINGCACHE.CCC and not the default install folders... Maybe that's the reason why I didn't lose the addons?

But! OTOH I for the first time am fighting a weird phenomenon that I believe I've seen mentioned at least once in a thread - lost my ATC voices, and hear some "scratch sounds" when the ATSUs transmit. My "pilot" voice plays correctly though... ??

For all those that keep telling everyone "IT'S A BETA!", gosh, I wish I was as clever as you to work that one out.

What you don't seem to understand yourselves amongst the complaints is that even a beta needs to be in some form of usability to enable testing.

And keep telling people to quit the beta if they don't like it is no proper answer, as Asobo need testers.

Lets face it, this crew seems to bork things up quite often, leading to the majority of complaints.

True, that one-size-fits-all argument is getting so annoying and oversimplified. It's rather fallacious too in some contexts. Even in the Public SU 2, there are issues. Will they say "IT'S MSFS 2024!"?

Isn’t part of beta testing deliberately trying to force breakages to see what’s causing it?

edit: I really don’t know, not an expert on beta strategy

It seems like they randomly tweak and tweak without knowing what they do, just in hope that the next build will be better than the current one. Which often is not the case.

Issues in beta versions are more justified of course, but let's not forget why so many people jump into the beta... that's because also the current "final" version is still a mess after 7 months from release! Desperation and hope are what motivate people to adventure into the beta, not masochism.

Yes, it's a Beta, but it's also my second full flight, using the FSLabs A321, this turn from LEMD to LPPT, using default weather, traffic and ATC and the only glitch I have now since installing 1.5.9.0 is that I lost the ATC sound: I can listen to myself or my co-pilot if I enable AI ATC, but I can't listen to the various ATSU messages, just read them...

Other than this, MSFS 2024 is slowly but steadily converging towards what I consider to be an "almost PERFECT" flight simulator, at least for my level of exigence regarding a desktop flight simulator.

.) I finally have very acceptable default weather, well, with the help of RealTurb and even Active Sky if I want that "little additional touch"...

.) finally have very acceptable ATC;

.) default Online Traffic is not perfect, but it's even under the control of ATC and adds quite a bit of challenge and realism to the overall experience;

.) my addons, FSLabs A321, iFly 737 MAX, Fenix 320, INIBUILDS 350, and also some of the default aircraft in FS 2024 are really enjoyable;

.) I can use FS 2024 to help me with my RL soaring, for instance to explore eventual land out spots...

I'm fine with FS 2024 !!! Actually I'm more than just fine... I'm Happy!!!

I don’t mind if a beta has bugs or performance issues, but if I can’t start a free flight, I can’t test anything.

If beta goes worse when it progresses, id call it an alpha. I was using su3 beta few iterations back, but when the fps went worse, i dropped su3 in the bin. Lol, things goes worse over time. Bad programmers?

My virtual memory usage is in su2 35 GB, but my ram usage is 23 GB, something is broken in the sim, i call alpha.

It can be in some odd cases maybe, but normally it is to fix things or get features working properly and then let people validate if it is fixed or not.
From my experience of beta's over the years (not just MSFS), they say "here, test this", "The bit that was broken... is it working alright for you now?".

I dare say they are struggling with some old spaghetti code, as I have never seen so many things get broken or downgraded in quality that do not seem to be part of any issue that needs fixing.
Some things just flip-flop all of the time.  We seem to have spent four years flip-flopping with cloud quality, night lighting, LOD issues etc.  It must be exhausting for them.

I can visualize the following.  Somewhere, deep in the basement of Asobo, a dimly lit office.  Empty pizza boxes, soda cans, candy wrappers scattered about.  A lone programmer is sitting in a chair and 4 managers are standing around and staring.  The programmer says, "I never touched that part of the system!  I couldn't have caused it!   He may never be seen again. 🙂

These issues with double annunciators, non-functioning autopilots etc. apparently affect the default MSFS aircraft. I am currently flying the IFly Max 8 from KMSY to KPHX in 1.5.9.0 and everything is working perfectly - no issues at all.

Wait...did they fix (add back from 2020) PG in KPHX?  I flew yesterday and there was still no PG in America's 5th largest city.

He really needs to stay at Asobo. I'd hate to see him/her out in the real world changing oil in my car and forgetting to tighten the plug on the oil pan. Or driving a school bus that's carrying my grandkids. Or working for SpaceX (although he may already be there!)

Stay at Asobo where all he can damage is 1s and 0s in a simulation.
