My first impressions of MSFS 2024

Hmmm, going by these shots I find the 2024 shot slightly more realistic. Lights do shine, there not just white dots.

I've never seen a runway at night with my own eyes from a landing persepective, so I accept I could be wrong about the blurriness.

Are the taxiway lights as bright as the runway lights though?

  • The beauty of 2024 is that you really don't need to run everything at Ultra. I have quite a bit on Medium and it still looks so much better and more realistic than 2020 ever did. Plus the PC I have is

It may sound daft, but this is the main reason I won't change sims. I can't bear the blurry lights. These screenshots are from iniBuilds KJFK, RW31L.

I can’t see your photos properly at the moment on my mobile. But Back in 2023 there were a lot of complaints about the night lighting. Asobo changed it a few times between launch and 2023 and the consensus was, at that time, that the best night lighting was at launch. When I left in 2023 it was blurry at distance, just like it is in 2024. So did Asobo do something to fix it recently in FS2020?

That was my impression as well.  Runway lights at an airport like JFK are impressively BRIGHT on approach.  I'm not saying the second image is perfect, it's just that the dim little dots in the first image are not representative of the real thing at all.

It's basically the same folks who come into every thread, complaining about this or that.

Ignore them and enjoy the sim!

Well these threads about "first impressions don't mean much. Somewhat humorous to read though.

Everyone has different expectations and opinions about the game. So I'm trying to understand what the OP is trying to relay to us?

It is strictly one persons opinion about the game and really doesn't add much to the hundreds of other "first impressions" that have been posted here on the forum.

Please tell us what the purpose of relaying to us what this first impression is trying to solve?

Are you telling us to avoid this product or something?

Are you trying to be daft or are you sincere in your question and if so, what would you have preferred the OP conveyed to us concerning his thoughtful and well written commentary.  With all respect,

yes "bushing it' is great in 2024

Regarding night lighting in MSFS 2024, I'll just leave this here.

Nope, I'm surprised he didn't just summarize all of his words into his usual "Who Cares?"

Don't understand why someone who has so little interest in other people's opinions frequents a forum that is predominantly opinions LOL

Blurry airport lights is definitely a bug that plagues Sim Update 2. It is currently fixed in SU3. If you want to get a headstart on it, you can join the SU3 beta.

Yes, they are fixed in the beta.. but I would just wait for the release. It's close now, and if you are using MSFS 2024 for the first time, you don't want to immediately deal with Beta oddities. SU2 is very stable and gives a good experience, and in a few days we should have the final SU3 release.

If your uncertain why would it matter!

Threads such as these aren't helpful to anyone so what purpose do they serve?

Main reason I am sticking with 2020, no advantage for me, at all to moving to 24.

I think the real...main reason...is that you've never used 2024 and depend on reports of negativity to drive your decision.  Once you've jumped in you'll soon see what others end up sticking with it despite its WIP status.

And many people buy 2024, and use it for a bit, and go back to 2020. My 2020 looks and works great. When they release the latest update for 2020, which I hope is in my lifetime, and it incorporates the new Bing maps, it will be perfect for my use. I hate fixing things that aren't broken.

I did install 2020 alongside 2024 but removed 2020 after I loaded a flight up.

I just prefer the look and feel of 2024. I just need more of my addons to be converted over.
