RELEASE NOTES Sim Update 3 Beta - 1.5.24.0

How can fixes be made? Isn't Asobo a French company, and they are (like most French people) on their annual vacation for the next three weeks. 😶

  • Dang, it seems like it must be a truly thankless task working for at Asobo for this Program. People complain vociferously about Vram, and when it gets addressed... Not a word-o-thanks. Textu

  • Ahh right, the toxicity lies with the people who are actually enjoying the sim and not those who are bashing the devs in one way or another. The reality is the sim is working just fine for plenty

They lack the knowledge and talent, not resources.

Perhaps you could explain to them just exactly what they lack, since you seem to know.  I’m sure they will appreciate your coaching.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, if you don’t like it then maybe you should try and bite your tongue for a change, instead of being toxic all the time.

Agreed on opinions.  Problem is here on Avsim, most opinions are offered as indisputable fact.

I'm on 2020, see no reasons (yet) to move into 2024 territory.

I stepped up from 9900k (5.0-OC) that I purchased back in December 2018. The performance is great for my 2k set-up, as I use A LOT of AI with PSXT. All the sim's settings are at Ultra and I haven't even touched BIOS settings (typical thing with Intel). Tempts are at 78-80C at max with average at 70C with frequencies normally at 5200-5400 under MSFS load (don't have any other "games").

PS. Don't think that I'm ready to jump into 4k territory even with MSFS2020 as I would definitely have to compromise.

Other than that - very happy camper.

Why a 9950x3d rather than a 9800x3d - the latter seems to be the better pure gaming processor.

Some of my observations since the recent SU3 Beta Update.

  • Images and textures seem grainy or a bit fuzzy.  Noticed some gradation oddities too.
  • I run the FSR3 frame gen.  Dev Mode - Show FPS - Used to show the generated frames (45fps capped in RTSS / Dev Mode would show 90).  No Dev Mode Show FPS shows 45.  Not sure if it's functioning or not.

Look back one page, it's already reported and logged.

The reality is the sim is working just fine for plenty of people, and those saying it's not a "working product" are only dissuading others from even trying it when there is a good chance it will work just fine for 90% of the people out there if they aren't trying to run unsupported addons.

This.

The sim works nicely for me. Stable frame rates. No CTDs. No funky behavior. Sim loads fast. Loading into an airport is an almost instant event.

Another beta build that doesn't address the core issues. It's beyond me why they can't fix glaring performance issues like the audio stutters and CPU spikes. Deliver us a working product instead of using your customer base as free beta testers. I gave the team the benefit of the doubt, but now it's starting to get annoying.

I fixed my audio stutters by selecting the same device in the Main Device and Communications device setting in the sim.

but these options weren't available in the VR settings menu. With 1.5.24.0, VR users also have the option to adjust those settings.

Thanks for clarification, so really just consistency with VR users … all good.

I hate it when people spread such exaggerated stereotypes. Some of us take 4 weeks, Sir 😅

Hi Marc. I see you have a 3070ti card . How does your setup handle Vram? I have a 3070 and I am using all 7.2 GB of the 7.2 GB available. I understood that this update was going to lower Vram usage.

With my mid range PC, SU3 runs very well, better than SU2. VRAM is not an issue (1080p no VR, high to ultra)

Dunno I'm not in the beta, it struggles with 2024 in general due to the known VRAM issues and sole use of DX12. It'll be interesting to see what changes, if any, will be noticeable when it releases to public but I'm not holding my breath as the DX12 implementation overall still needs a ton of work.
