October 23, 2025Oct 23 Had a problem to install the cumulative KB5070773 when it was offered with error 0800F0991 (it can come with other error numbers) which in fact was an update to correct a problem with KB5066835. This error "often" points to corrupted update components or corrupt Windows file. Solutions found came in the form of SFC scanning and DSIM everything but both of them didn't find anything wrong. Next was stopping the update service, renaming and deleting some folders and restarting the update service. No joy. Then checked logs. Logs pointed to an error with a language experience pack, when I removed that, it pointed to the next language experience pack, removed the 2 others I had installed but the log then still showed an error with the latest language experience pack although that wasn't installed anymore. Then tried a direct update with KB5070773 from the Windows update catalog, same problem. In the end I did an in place upgrade (which basically does a repair) because in Windows update I now have listed is Windows 11, version 25H2 (repair version). After that, I installed KB5070773 from the file I downloaded from the update catalog which then installed just fine. So I never found out what the real problem was why the KB didn't want to install. But W11 25/2 just works fine. Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. October 23, 2025Oct 23 First I'll stress that I also changed a security setting in Windows the same time as installing 25H2 which was a stupid thing to do... I reversed the security setting change and rolled back to 24H2 but I continued to receive the following issue: OneDrive wouldn't log in and there were a variety of UI problems with the Start Menu, and menus not appearing when you right-click on taskbar icons. The Application event log was also filling up with 'AAD.Broker Plugin' errors. October 23, 2025Oct 23 I need some help on this, if I may. I tried installing 24H2 a while ago but it broke the computer's ability to be seen over wifi by the tv sets and our mobile phones. They kept requesting a path and password. Everything was working fine on 23H2. I tried everything I could dig up on the internet but had no luck. Reverting to 23H2 brought things back to normal but EOL is fast approaching and I would prefer to be up to date. Any thoughts on what could be causing this issue? I used to have one USB port that was not recognised until the PC was booted a second time. I will only be able to check that tomorrow after shutting down tonight.
