PMDG Marketing... Timeframes

Ehhh, I don't know. For the big stuff - like a big patch or a new release - personally I'd rather see what someone like V1 thinks of it first. If only for the initial impressions and whether it's worth my time. It's typically clear in the first minute if something is worth it or not.

Usually I'll spend 5-10 mins watching a clip to see what it's like. And it's all about entertainment for me - I'd rather see someone with an actual personality who can be both relatively competent but also have fun with it.

Maybe it's my attention span, but I can't deal with long-form reviews anymore. When I was younger I enjoyed when the likes of Flightsim.com would post massive essays breaking down every detail for a product. Now it just feels tedious. Same with those multi-hour video deep dives, delivered in the droning tone of a technical review. Not for me.

And remember, this isn't like a patch. It's a paid upgrade, or an entirely new product depending on whether you had it in FS2020. Seeing whether it's actually worth it is key.

Apparently PMDG just reached out to BATC today and asked for integration docs. Sounds like some new features are coming to justify whatever steep price they were planning to charge.

Hi all.  Just my two cents for what it's worth.

I love streaming flights and enjoying interacting with the folks that come along for the ride, so I get that streamers welcome the opportunity to show off something new and exciting.

The only thing here is that it's just more streaming, of a flight in a PMDG 737.  Not a lot of sim busting innovation or anything that the current airliner devs haven't already done in the last year that 2024 has been out.

So I guess the shine of watching yet another preview flight in the 737 just doesn't hit like it used to.

Just release the thing and get it over and done with.

I agree. The streaming for days on end gets old fast.

If it’s more than the “couple cups of coffee” as RSR said in his own video, they will get raked over the coals by a greater proportion than those who will defend it.

Personally I'd rather they (whoever the publisher is) just release their aircraft / updates to their paying customers first, rather than give to influencers to try and hype the product beforehand. At the end of the day, we know the product / update is coming and I am happy to wait for the final product to be released for me to use.

Ooof. Opinions are here might get the heat from people but I agree. I wish they'd update, fix the relevant issues and bugs instead of hyping everything up.

A lot of developers dont get on the hype train: they just deliver. Looking at you Fenix and JF!

Got to give PMDG credit here if they only do one thing right but (they make top level addons) and that is how to stir the internet Flight Sim community up. Bravo RR I have gained a few pounds from eating popcorn and cheetos from reading the internet the last few days, how many other developers can stir the pot on a flight sim addon? Some people just need to calm down and let them do their thing.

I have watched 1 week of streams from CptCanada and have chosen to do no more until it transitions over like me to  the userbase in MS 2024. I still need to do some hardware updates though.

I bet we'll be paying $49.95 USD which is a very expensive cup of coffee. They wouldn't be able to help themselves as the PS5 market has just opened up.

People would go insane if they charged that to MS2020 users for an upgrade fee. I'm thinking more like 20-25 USD  MAX but that is still speculation but who "the world not allowed" knows RR still has to pay his development teams for their time and work. Its up to the customer to be all in and decide whether to rebuy/ pay upgrade fees or whomever never own it to purchase it for MS 2024. That is good chunk of money for many folks.

Just a guess, the delay might be caused by Boris Audioworks releasing their sound pack.

Nah, 40-45 sounds right, knowing how greedy PMDG are and always have been. And I bet they're gonna wrap it up as a 40% discount from the 73.80$ or something they're gonna charge for the full package. Looks like the assumption that they haven't got the unviersal appraisal they expected for the "rebuilt from the ground up" demonstration and are adding things on top last minute to make the price sound justified is correct all along.
