PMDG 737-800 Set To Release 2025/12/18

Featured Replies

@aniiran Your post reflects EXACTLY what I feel what is going on. PMDG are overselling the changes to justify cashing in a second time.

No, not simply cashing in, deviating from Robert's initial upgrade price expectations.

I think they did a great job on the new sounds. And I say that someone who criticised PMDG in this very thread.

From what we've seen, it's obviously not going to cost a couple of coffees. And in my opinion, I think the updates justify the price (which we don't know yet).

But this time I think I'll just buy the -800.

I agree. One thing i cannot stand, and its becoming the norm, is that they giving so much more attention to the cabin sounds than the cockpit.

I wonder if its because of the streamers who jumping to wing view during takeoff and landing and wondering why the it was all over the place 😂

Some people enjoy the sim more as a passenger sim than actually piloting. But, whatever makes one happy.

oh well. let me jump in before this gets locked after 18 (!!) pages of ... not much. but yes, I get the idea of being exited.

luckily we will KNOW (and not just guess, feel, smell or whatever else) within few more hours what that price will be - both for the 2024 version and the upgrade/update from 2020.

As I own the -700 which will come last in the update cycle I will probably lean back, wait for first reviews and then get the update next year - if it is within that CCR ("coffee cost range").

But hey, let me share something completely crazy: if reviews are nice I may even get that 800 within the next few days and skip that 700 update next year, even if coming at the CCR...

Until then, let me also chip in some figures. how about 9, 39, 60, 79...  feels like a lottery and maybe it is - until 1700z

Well to be fair, if you are sitting in the real thing as a pilot you have your noise cancelling headphones on and won't hear most of the sounds anyway.

So of course all the work into a soundset is more for people who want to hear how stuff sounds instead of for people who want to get the pilot experience. 😉

I'd love a good headphones simulation personally

Same. The constant noise in the real cockpit will damage pilot's ears without protection. I sometimes wonder if you sim too much with a good sound set up and sound set that you will damage your hearing as well. So maybe going noise cancelling simulation is the safer way, just to be sure?

I can definitely attest to my ears ringing after a long sim playthrough of constant engine whine. I’ve definitely been more careful ever since.

Eighteen pages of speculation and arguments over which is the better 737-800! Good grief! This must go down as one of the least helpful topics created on AvSim. Wouldn’t you rather be flying? 😳

Make the most of debating and speculating because as soon as someone starts a “it’s released” topic this one will probably be locked.

Most of us are probably flying while reading the forums 😂

That’s my opinion anyway.

...IBTL...

Agree, more flying and less arguing will make this a better place, but this one has been certainly interesting....🙂...

As someone who has been flying the first ever PMDG 737NG (the -600) for the last 22 years (had bought it in CD...🙂...), I think I know, by now, how that one looks and sounds. So, I am waiting eagerly to see how much more superior, the new and improved version is...in the latest MSFS2024 iteration...

Meanwhile, folks, this morning, I'm making my own Coffee from the French beans, so, it's free...🙂...

Cheers...!

Price will be $73.80. Or maybe $73.78? My dog is going to buy me this plane for Christmas. Normally she dines on wild sockeye salmon. She has agreed to sardines for 2 weeks so that I can get this.

So I purchased the PMDG 737-800. I thought that for $37.50 it was a deal. I misread the price. It is $375,000,000. My credit card was actually charged this amount. How do I get a refund???

trust me, you're 100% correct i made sure before i got typed on the 737, i treated myself to some bose pro flight for noise cancelling , otherwise its too word not allowed loud with the electrics and rattling glare shield.  😂
