PMDG 737-800 Set To Release 2025/12/18

For something that is barely updated too.

That's also what was on my mind.

I'm not one of the total naysaysers who claims that all they ever do is port their product from one platform to the next without adding anything new.

It's a 737, that has always had the deepest system simulation on the home market, so I really don't understand what more people are expecting.

However even if I were a new customer who is going to pay full price, I have to ask how they are justifying their high prices for a product that they basically just worked about 9 months on, with the main work just on making it fully compatible and going through already written code?

It's not like they built this from the ground up, like they want to claim. This would not be possible with their usual work pace. A ground up project for them usually takes about 3-5 years.

So in light of what they actually DID work on and improve, for this specific version, how would they still justify prices in the 70 dollar range for new customers?

They bank in on work that has been done by them a decade ago.

FWIW, from the reddit thread about the 60% discount:

And as usual, someone on reddit lies. What else is new?

The claim that he doesn't get the 60% when signing in as an existant customer, and that it also shows up when you are not signed in is a complete and utter lie.

I just tested it. Twice.

It DOES get added when signed in, and it DOES NOT when you are not signed in.

And I AM an existing customer.

The only real move is not to play.

I am old enough to get that reference.

Such a good movie. I had such a crush on Ally Sheedy.

clear indication that you are not comprehending what I am writing. You’re also responding to points I didn’t make.

Did the exact same thing when I was being critical of PMDG. No idea why they’re doing mental gymnastics on people leaving fair but objective criticisms about PMDG.

Yup. Only petty minds want to be 'fans'. It doesn't matter who or what they're fans of.

I want to grumble but what's the point? Whatever the cost I'm going to buy it. And so, I expect, will every one else.

Why aren’t those concerned about price not posting on PMDG forums instead of AVSIM?  You get banned or something?

PMDG 737-800 for 2024 price discussion isn’t even one page?  The actual developers respond in PMDG forums … maybe those who are “guessing” at the work involved could actually get some insight from those doing the actual work?  Gotta be better than pretending one knows how software development process works?  Or may some just don’t want to know and like to rant about price?

I'd the 60% off is just say acceptable, but maybe it should have been about 75% off to be a fair price.

Depends on the full price. We will find out in a couple of hours.

Ok, boomer. Yeah, because avsim has always been the home and beacon to positivity and honesty.

This is a flightsimming community. I bet two thirds among us are indeed boomers. 😉

Well, if the upgrade price is in fact $30 that is well beyond what I would bother paying at this time.  If they only included that non winglet model and better eye brow options than that $30 would be tickling my fancy.  For now "in my opinion" the value just is not there!
