Some people most definitely got the discount despite only having owned the 700 in 2020. Whether this is a bug or error on their part, or something else, I can't say. But it is a confirmed fact. Multiple credible users on this forum have reported it.

Indeed.

I suspect it's a bug hence my sarcasm.

I must be blind--I can't find any actual release announcement on the PMDG forums. I only own the 700 in MSFS and I see no discount on the new version when logged into my account and putting it in the cart. Have they talked about when the 700 will be released?

If you only own the 700, you will get a discount when you purchase the 700 but will not get a discount when buying any other variant.  The current planned release date for the 700 is February 2026.

I have a very odd failure going on.

After engine start as I advance the throttles to 30% N1 it takes about 10 seconds for the N1 to drop to zero and an orange MSFS own warning message to pop up that says:

Your engines have failed.

What the...???

Make sure you don’t have any throttle quadrant levers bound to “mixture control”

Try logging out of your account and then log back in.  Empty your cart and re-add the 800.

That's not it. I use the exact same controller profile that I use for the 777.  Also that should simply shut off the engine and not trigger a failure warning.

The oddest thing is that all internal failures from MSFS are set to off. No engine stress damage, no structural damage, nothing.

Edit: I have a hunch it might be the icing. Read something about people having this kind of failure in the Fenix. Will check what happens if I switch it off.

Nope, that's not it. With it switched off I managed to taxi a bit, but it happened again. First engine one than two lose all N1. But N2 stays at 58.1%

And the engines continue to produce electrical power.

What the is going on?!

??  Surely you mean the -700

This one, the -800, shouldn't it hit the marketplace in a few weeks?   I thought Asobo/MS had streamlined the MP uptake process quite a bit since the early days?

Interesting - the vid closes by saying there are TWELVE variants...?

Let's see: BBJ2, Pax, Combi, Freight, and all times different winglets...is that right?
But the description says:

"

  • Includes the 737-800 in passenger configuration with both blended winglets and split scimitar winglet configurations.
  • Includes the Boeing Business jet in with both blended winglets and split scimitar winglets configurations.
  • Includes both the 737-800 BDSF & BCF freighter with main deck cargo door with blended winglets."

Which only gets me to six. But then again, I went to public school... 😉

Where's the other six...?

Maybe 2 Engine types for each variant possibly.  Just a guess.

Just tried it for the first time today when I found out I'd be waiting until February. Started on the runway. Hand flew (with autopilot) KLAS to KPHX, ILS approach. Did not try the FMC or cold start, but no crash.

I've been able to do (simple) flights when doing the start hot on the runway deal (as similar to odourboy above).

I know there are at least a couple other things that don't work properly (at least as reported by other users).

But I'm so jazzed back up on the 737 that I'll probably jump back in and try again.

If PMDG wants to maximize profits they should in fact delay launching in MP for a few months. MP takes a cut of the profit for products sold on their platform. PDMG should say something like " we want to delay launching in MP to perfect our delivery and experience through the MS channel".  Direct to consumer (DTC) is what all software developers prefer with digital delivery. Using a retail/distributor such as MSFS MP is only necessary when a retail store front in necessary for delivery of a physical product, such as a software DVD.

MSFS MP does serve a purpose. Ease of installation and exposure to the casual simmer who is not really aware of PMDG.

There is no reason that the 738 couldn't have launched simulateously on PMDG and MSFS MP. If it works when delived DTC it will work if delivered on MP. So it is all about the Benjamins!! This is what happened with the 777. Considereable delay from PMDG launch to MSFS MP launch.

Delaying the MSFS MP launch also captures sales and profits from simmers who bought the 738 on MSFS 2020 MP, and are too impatient to wait for their discount on MP, instead buying it DTC from PMDG.

Let's have a gentleman's bet on the delivery date.
