I take it the Boris sounds are working with the 2024 737-800 ?

Natively not working, but you can make it work with that video assuming you're not using the MP version.

Mathijs responded to my comment on the PMDG forum, saying that the 737 pilots who test for them say that they do not hear the sound in the real world aircraft. Even if that is correct, the problem is that they can feel when the aircraft touches down. We do not have that luxury, so we need an alternative signal to let us know when the wheels hit the deck. In fact, even if the pilots genuinely do not hear it, they can surely hear all of the rattles that go with it! All I hear is silence.....

🙂
you’re holding it wrong, like Steve jobs said a long time ago.

Also, maybe someone should tell PMDG that while their plane may be “super duper realistic”, when I load it on my PC, I don’t magically have giant engines appear in my room, or all the noise that’s in a flight deck… so no matter what it’s not “realistic”

Does this PMDG 737-8 have the rattle sounds?

On a side note, can any of you let me know if you have noticed another issue? Three times today after landing, the GS displayed on both the ND and MFA has "frozen". As an example, I have just landed at EFIV Ivalo, and as I was preparing to exit the runway, the GS "froze" at 12 knots. I was still able to increase or decrease speed with the throttle, but I had no idea what speed I was actually moving at. Then, when I was moving along the taxiway, the plane suddenly "jumped forward" as the GS "woke up" (for want of a better term). In other words, I think that I was moving slower than 12 knots at the time, so when the GS "woke up", the plane was instantly catapulted forward to that figure of 12 knots. It is almost as if the code has gone walkabout, and then comes back a short time later.

A very strange issue. I would love to know if anyone else has seen this.

No, I'm afraid not 👍   I put a lot of hours on that version and definately no opening cockpit windows.  Pretty sure the 2024 version is the first time PMDG have modelled this in the 737.

It's a good immersive new feature.

PS... If like me, anyone is trying for 15 minutes to discover how to close the windows.... there's a small clickspot right in front of the moveable window part.

MDFlier might be thinking about the iFly NG that had opening cockpit windows, if I recall correctly…🙂

Agree, this is a nice bit of animation.

Is anyone else not hearing a touchdown sound with the new 737-800? I decided to land it hard on my latest flight to test this, but I heard absolutely nothing as the main wheels slammed into the ground.

That’s about the biggest load of word not allowed I’ve ever heard. That guy is insufferable at times. I hear my plane touchdown every landing. Do I hear the wheels hit the pavement? Of course not! But the cockpit rattles, there’s thuds, theres shutters and depending on the firmness of the touchdown, these sounds are amplified. You are correct in your presumption.

I fly all the variants of the NG and MAX expect the -600.

Yup, PMDG sometimes picks the most bizarre places to draw the realism line.

Like the time people (including me) were requesting the ability to have the thrust reverser on the throttle axis as an option that could be calibrated, like many other aircraft.  They said no because that’s not how it works on a 737.  Right, because real pilots hold down a giant F2 button to engage reverse thrust…🤦

I'm really confused.  I don't own this 737-8 that's why I ask.  So can you, or can you not hear rattles on rollout?   You said it has rattles in your reply to me, but then above you said it is silent (?)

I’m very curious how they think the thrust reversers work on the 737. It sure as hell it’s an all or nothing thing.

Getting the same thing as the 777. Plane freezes the screen for 5 to 10 seconds at a time. Making it impossible to fly.

Live and learn as they say.

They have the same problem (at least they did on my MSFS 2020 PC) with the 777F. That had zero touchdown and rollout sounds until I purchased the Boris Audioworks sound package for it.
