PMDG 737-800 RELEASED!

I've really been enjoying flying the 737 since release - It's great to have it in 2024. I'll also be looking forward to the exterior updates they claim to be doing in the neat future as well.

would you not expect this to be ready on purchase? All youtubers influencers said it's ok... but apparently even Pmdg admits it's not ready.

100%, but what can you do? They released it as it is, your option is not to buy or to buy. The mysterious bug on their website that gave everyone the discount may have helped some people on the fence... I cannot confirm or deny one way or another.

I read the pre-release announcement where Robert said they were doing such work so I was somewhat expecting it not be there on release.

I had something similar to this with the 777. It turned out to be something to do with an auto save feature I had enable whilst using MSFS, in particular it was Volanta auto save.

That was it. My Delta Acars. Took off all the savings and it flew perfect. I will try the 777 next, but should be the same.

Thanks

I had a good look around the exterior of my 737-800SSW last night, and it looked fine to me. Even the landing gear bay was nicely detailed.

I was sceptical, but I find the visuals much improved. The cockpit looks awesome, better than the ifly. Exterior is improved too and looks fine. The cabin is a bit of an disappointment compared to the ifly or fenix or iniBuilds though

Hi Alti:

In your defense, indeed, I’ve seen some of these anomalies (especially for parking brake release and flap lever) in the NG, in my MSFS2020 (I do not have the MSFS2024 738 yet).

You seem to be an experienced 738 user, but have you tried these?

- clear or/and service all (pre-existing) faults and maintenance problems in the FMC setup prior to start; you can turn them on later if you wish

- try the actual brake lever and the flap lever controls on the pedestal instead of the custom bindings (you have set via controller or keyboard)

- Yes, I do believe it’s due to a conflict with the default MSFS2024 settings. Set the Parking Brake e.g, to another of the unused buttons on your flight controller. This has resolved the issue for me.

- For initial Parking Brake release, in MSFS2024, ensure that the default MSFS pause has not been activated (by MSFS, without your knowledge)

Have fun with the 738.

Cheers…!

Merry Christmas!
Thank you for your kind words, but the faults I have are different: the problem is not that the levers cannot be operated. The problem is that the levers do not trigger any action in the aircraft when operated. So I operate the flap lever, and the flaps do not move. No fault is displayed. The aircraft also does not respond to the emergency switch.
Parking brake: I can hear the brake releasing and the lever creaking. But it doesn't move. The parking brake stays on. I can land without flaps, which is annoying, but that's how it is.
Usually, after landing, what no one wants to see happens: all screens turn orange and some WASM error is displayed.
However, since this does not affect all flights with the 738, I accept the teething problems and blame it on poor maintenance by my airline.
And YES: ALL ERRORS IN SETTINGS ARE OFF!

I think this was released prematurely. My 738 has quite a few problems: Sometimes I can't release the parking brake. (I didn't select Realism Mode). The flaps and also Speedbrakes often refuse to work, don't respond to the flap adjustment lever, and stubbornly remain where they are. No hydraulic problems are displayed. Even with the emergency switch in the overhead panel, I can't operate the flaps.
Sometimes the 738 brakes while taxiing and won't move, even when the brakes are released. I often need 100% thrust to start taxiing again.
There are posts about this in the PMDG forum. These and many other problems are known. Some problems of this kind were already present in the beta version, but it was released anyway.
I hope for an update soon so that every flight can go smoothly.
There are also many flights that I have already completed perfectly. These things occur sporadically, you never know when.
Nevertheless, I am delighted to have my 73NG in the 2024 model.

Happy holidays to you all out there!

As far as braking goes, make sure your hardware is bound to the brakes and not the brake axis. This had me stumped for a while. No problems after changing it over.

The same has happened to me.

I would suggest submitting a ticket for a receipt if you have not already.  I wanted one in case I ever needed proof of purchase beyond their website.  I did and got a receipt back within an hour or so...

Is this happening to all of you too?

No, should it?

Just had a totally amazing flight today, my first full A to B journey in the new B738. Totally astounding how well the system performs. Life changing experience. OK, maybe not, but still very satisfying.

When a flight goes well, I really , really enjoy the PMDG 737  - but so many odd quirks can get annoying.

The 2nd cargo hold luggage loader will sometimes not disconnect - nothing I do will get it to move (no, I am not using GSX) resulting in a restart.

Sometimes the throttle rudder stops working unexpectedly and the foot peddles suddenly work instead - ??

Using 4x speed on a long flight   - crash to desktop with a memory error??  (memory checking on my system shows the 4 x 16Gb Ram sticks are fine but they are DDR 4 not DDR 5  - this one is particularly upsetting on a great start to the flight - only to have the CTD when halfway through the journey.

Sometimes the side Display is missing and no amount of searching through the PMDG setups allows me to turn it on  - restart the Simulator and it is there!!?

I can assume here that some of you reading this will tell me my system is flaky maybe.. I have the tools to runs lots of test and so far there is no issues reported.
