PMDG 737-800 RELEASED!

Anyway I am more than fine with my iFly 737, Fênix, Fslabs, Inibuilds...

WAAAAY too many Airbuses in there, my friend.

“You gotta pump those Boeing numbers up, those are rookie numbers in this hobby.” 😂

But seriously, if you have the iFly, and esp since it’s a MAX, there’s no “need” for the NG.

Now, the 777 is another matter, entirely… 😉

  • I visited my son this morning in Newcastle (EGNT - although he doesn't live at the airport 😄). I've had a good 90 minute session with the PMDG 737-800 for MS2024 and here are my thoughts:- P

  • What a stupid organization to find and select the right aircraft+livery. In the MSFS 2024 menu we have now 5 entries for the PMDG 738-800 together with MS/Asobos configure/variant/livery options it is

First impressions from my first proper flight with the 738 are good.

Sounds are a big improvement from before but I think I need to figure out the noise cancelling bit and maybe tune some of the volume levels, my ears are literally bleeding after an hour flight and the ambient sounds are so loud it was hard to hear BATC even with that turned up.

Yep sure did. Certainly gets a bit quieter but still louder than any other aircraft I have.

According to PMDG, this never happened and no one got a discount they weren’t eligible for. They claim it is trolls lying to people.  This is officially from that Mathjis guy.

So you should believe PMDG 🙂 we never got this discount ….

Everyone must be trolls that has reported it. Can't own up to any mistakes they have made. It happens deal with it instead of treating the community like trash.

honeycomb bravo tried a different lever wont work tried moving with mouse still wont work

looked in settings and checked nothing is assigned on any other device

verified files in oc3 seem ok

started at gate and runway still nothing

has anybody got any ideas please

Typical PMDG … I’m on a thrustmaster airbus, took me a while to figure out how to calibrate it to the 777 for MSFS24.

Seriously need to have a look at how every other aircraft including the free FBW A380 does things - every plane has a throttle detent set up!!!

Since no Boeing aircraft has any detents, there is no use for an internal calibration.

I suppose they expect a few players to take the bait and buy the -800 at full price because they don't want to wait till February.

But as the two variants were sold at the same prices, yes it would have been nice to allow -700 owners to buy the -800 for msfs24 with the discount even if you would have lost your discount on the -700 and would have had to buy it at full price in February if needed. Maybe they would have lost a few sales but it would have been appreciated by the community.

At this stage, I doubt "appreciated by the community" is a priority with this team. Unfortunately.

Your thrustmaster Airbus has always interested me. I use a thrustmaster warthog but with no twist grip I've got a set of thrustmaster pedals I'm not 100% happy with. I'm giving thought to the Airbus set up. I use mine with both pmdg and the fsl A321 and inibuilds a350 and all is okay. I may get the Airbus setup sometime after Christmas.

They definately did that with the MSFS version were the 700 was the first version to be released, not the way more popular 800. That was purely done to get people to use up their credits they had from the NGXU on the 700 and then spend money on the variant that everybody was really waiting for and that most operators have.

Now they released the most popular version first.

Indeed. What bugs me is if someone creates facts by omitting Information (or stating the opposite) like RSR in his post release note. No word on the „coffee cups“ gate and now also denying „loyalty discounts“, actually even offending those who got them? Fully disconnected from the user base, remembers me strikingly to some presidents these times.

Instead RSR confirms in said „post release note“ that it „seemed to get lost in the hullabaloo“ that the outside model is not finished and will see updates as PMDG decided to release the 737 nonetheless before christmas. So, ah, this got lost. Sure, happens. but this is - next to the coffee cup gate - yet another credibility hit. Not that I am personally so into external models but I know many of us are and thus it should have been made transparent that PMDG decided to release the -800 „with many of these exterior updates still pending as the updates don't affect the usability of the product“ as everyone may define „usability“ different. Or did I miss this in the T&Cs or release notes? Then please tell me and I will stand corrected.

Honestly, this has gotten for me a matter of principles. On respect and credibility. I am in the happy situation that 30USD is perfectly fine. Just tonight I spend about 230 for a family dinner of four. Yet, if I as CEO say the update would cost equivalent to you know what and it is only perceived higher than what the majority expected, then I would openly address this instead of blacklisting and banning people. same per the „loyalty discount“, happy to share my PMDG order history which started 08/01/2005 with the 747. there are people like me who got the discount applied and instead of insulting them I would expect PMDG to admit an error.

merry christmas

EDIT just checked their website. They may deny that the „new version (…) with new, lidar scanned models, improved textures“ includes the outside model and meant to refer to the cockpit only. Yet, the „Important notes“ do not refer to the „hullabaloo“ that the outside model is actually unfinished…

Not to take issue with your intent.

IIRC the still pending exterior work was pre-disclosed in one of RR’s updates. The stated reason being as now that it was intended to give customers time to fly the addon when many will have holiday vacation time, rather than delaying the release until sometime in January.

In contrast, I’ll gladly take THIS situation rather than a repeat of the genuine suffering caused by iniBuilds incontrovertibly premature A350 release.

In any case, this is all tempest in a teapot stuff, and it, too, shall pass, just like the A350 incompetence.

I agree and usually these things dont bother me, not even the 350 „Development“ which I bought, too, and actually like. I also like the 738, just for the record!

But calling me a troll for getting a discount their onlineshop granted me (it’s not a copy/paste email code) and not adressing the elephant in the room in a post release update, instead on a side note mentioning the hullabaloo … at tad too much for me.And believe me, I fully support and appreciate we got the 800 now before Xmas.

But even if the pending exterior work may have been pre-disclosed, I cannot see that from their website‘s product description as of today.

So as said, for me a bit just principles now which is very subjective. Sorry for that. Thus I will not further comment on this matter.

Yeah, no worries, mate. Plenty of issues to consider.
