Anyone been able to get in the bathrooms yet? Every time I try they are occupied!! LOL!! ( I am serious though) 

hmm i started to get and artficact in both this one and the new Maddog. Its a graphic line colored horisontal almost in the midle of the screen in every view. Is this a driver issue or SU4? comes after about 5-10minutes

Are you trying to get in there prior to descent and touchdown…🙂…? That’s when the Occupied light seems to persist forever…as I recall…

Try in mid-cruise to see what happens.

HA! Thanks. But, I am mid-cruise now and no luck 🙂 Guessing there was some "issue" with the inflight breakfast LOL!!

I don't think they are actually modelled which is probably why they added that easter egg in of you trying to open it etc. As if you go through it with a camera, there is no toilet model etc.

Hmmm... Ok, I though I saw it in a preview video somewhere, but perhaps I am mistaken.

It's not cross over. If you bought on MP, you get the discount there. You can't get it on PMDG's site. And vice-versa - people who bought from PMDG can only get the discount with PMDG - they can't get it on the MP.

I visited my son this morning in Newcastle (EGNT - although he doesn't live at the airport 😄).

I've had a good 90 minute session with the PMDG 737-800 for MS2024 and here are my thoughts:-

POSITIVES
 

• The addon is very well optimised. I have a 3080 but my son only has a 3070.  FPS and smoothness were very high at all phases, even in resource-demanding airports like RW Profiles Newcastle.  

• I am so impressed with the way PMDG have linked their custom AP commands to the default MSFS key commands.  Eg. In something like the Fenix, default MSFS AP commands like "HEADING SELECT MODE" just won't work (they won't engage the Airbus selected heading mode).  In the PMDG they have taken compatibility with the key commands as far as it's possible to go. Ie.  Pressing the default command for things like "AP NAV HOLD MODE" will engage the Boeing's "LNAV" mode. FLCH, VS, ALT, App and almost all AP key commands work with the PMDG. Clearly there's no command that works for "VNAV" as MSFS doesn't have a native VNAV command.  But it's very impressive, which means my son has been able to set everything up for his hardware / key presses, without having to use a further external program like "Axis & Ohs".    As someone who likes to use the mouse as little as possible, I am also very impressed with this.

• Sounds are excellent.  Not quite at Boris 777 level but much better than any native PMDG sounds we've heard before IMHO.

• The UI of the EFB and the FMC's 'PMDG' pages is excellent. Some nice improvements over the 2020 model. Simbrief integration worked great.

• The cabin is 'good enough' in my opinion. It's not the absolute best we've seen and definitely not in the league of the Fenix, but..... performance is considerably better than the Fenix is on my son's rig and I'd personally rather see a 'medium' fidelity cabin and high performance than a work of aesthetic art that is tough on resources.

NEGATIVES

In all honesty, there aren't a lot.  If you want a high fidelity 727NG, it will not disappoint and is very immersive and enjoyable to use.
 

• The textures in places do look a little 'cheap'.  The cockpit internal 'frame' area around the windows lacks texture variation and all looks a bit 'solid drab' like.  It could have seen a little more love. The MIP and all important areas look good, perhaps this is deliberate and why it performs so well.

• Some behaviour with the AP (such as how the a/c responds to a 'Direct to' made in the FMC) are still not quite perfect. But close enough.

• Perhaps I'm wrong and I missed it, but the settings need a 'sound mixer' page, where you can tweak the levels of individual sounds, like the packs, standby gyro, etc. The Zibo 737 in XP has this and it is such a great feature. Didn't we have that in the 2020 version?  I may wrong on this one!

• Price:  IMHO it is a 'decent' update to the 2020 version.  Performance is exceptionally good (it was already good in 2020 but this is next level). It's defintely not a ground-breaking update and it's not at the level of the BFU update for the Fenix.  $30 ?   Well.... a little bit steep for owners of the 2020 version. I'm very fortunate that I can afford $30 on something like this without any concerns about budget or my personal finances.   In all honesty, I think the update is worth 'up to $19.95'.  In that regard, it is a little expensive.  But not disgracefully so.  If you love the NG and fly airliners a lot (and can afford a $30 'non-essential' purchase), it's a no brainer.

None of this changes my feelings towards Mr Randazzo, his approach to business: maximising every opportunity to soak as much cash out of his loyal customer's pockets, nor his manner, tone and often obnoxious attitude towards his paying customers.

But purely on a technical basis.... well done PMDG, it's a very solid, enjoyable release.

Thank you for share these thoughts, it is nice to hear some feedback on the actual aircraft and not just PMDG. You have stated what I expected from looking at the pictures, streams and reading the release notes.

And I agree with you on the price. I am not really looking for an NG, an aircraft I would not fly so much, but had the price been $15 or $20 I might have purchased it, if only for old times' sake, I flew this plane almost exclusively from 2011 to 2015. But $30 is just too much for me. (And I can't help shake the feeling that some of this should have already been done for the 2020 iteration, things like improved textures and detailed wheel wells were on the roadmap from the early access release. PMDG has given me a lot of entertainment and enjoyment over the past 15 years and as you said anyone looking for a high-fidelity, well optimized NG will find it here. That said, I have grown increasingly disappointed in them as a company these last few years.
