Well holy moly... after about 20 tries with 4 browsers I just got the discount moments ago.

I sent this thread, where people were saying they'd got the discount even though they only owned the -700, to my son (who also only owns the -700 for 2020).   It was the same for him.   No discount but he kept logging in, out, adding to cart, removing.. after 20 minutes it suddenly popped up with the discount.   This was only 10 mins ago (19:38z), so it's definitely still possible to get the discount, if you really persevere 😄)

  • I visited my son this morning in Newcastle (EGNT - although he doesn't live at the airport 😄). I've had a good 90 minute session with the PMDG 737-800 for MS2024 and here are my thoughts:- P

  • What a stupid organization to find and select the right aircraft+livery. In the MSFS 2024 menu we have now 5 entries for the PMDG 738-800 together with MS/Asobos configure/variant/livery options it is

I'm currently flying out of KDEN, couldn't be happier with how smooth the preflight seup, taxi and T.O. went. The EFB integration with Simbrief and Navigraph was seamless for me. I use RUDDER for taxiing and it seems to hold a straight line quite easily with little Rudder pedal input, T.O. needed a little more input, but that would be normal with a slight crosswind I guess. All in all, a very smooth performance, better than the iFly Max (which I do enjoy very much). I have active sky and for the climb out it was telling me to expect HEAVY Turbulence up to 18,000 and it was a bit of a rocky-bumpy ride so I guess the flight model, held steady and picked up on that quite well. So, far I like it.  OH! I also use the great MSFS_AutoFPS and it is holding my target FPS of 57 very well with a Mtn. TLOD of 700 with FG active.

Bought it last night but was doing a long haul.  Is anyone having a problem with the moving map?  It’s cutting my fps way down.  Don’t think this happened in 2020.  Thanks much

It was always said by PMDG that you need to own the -800 in msfs to have the discount for the -800 in msfs24.

Seems some lucky simmers were able yesterday night to buy the upgrade while owning only the -700 in msfs. Don't know if it was a bug or not and if it was pacthed since.

Actually I was able to just purchase the -800 having just owned the -600 in 2020 with the discount.  I made sure I was logged in.

Did you do it from OC3 or through the web site?

You can't buy through OC3. You only download the plane + liveries once you've bought it through the website.

Is the 737-800 available now in the 2024 Marketplace?  I am only seeing the PMDG 737 for MSFS 2020 for streaming in MyLibrary and nothing except the PMDG 777 in the Marketplace. I'm in California.

I did it through the website after logging in with my account.

The PMDG 737-800 for MSFS 2024 is not available on the MS Marketplace.

It likely will be in the future but as it was only just released on the PMDG website yesterday, that could be some time yet.

I might skip the 700 upgrade myself, since there is a legit -800 BBJ2 in this package.

Doh! outsmarted myself (not difficult). I never use the -700, only bothering with the -600 if I use an MSFS 737. But I thought I'd load it up alongside my new -800, only to find out the -700 already has a BBJ model. So I needn't have bothered with the -800 anyway.

Still, as an obsessive/compulsive collector of airplanes, hey - what's another one?

Next decision is the SR-71. Another one that's not actually a particular favourite for me, and I have only recently got the new one in XP-12, so maybe I'll be able to resist the BBS one. But then again .  .  .

If budget permits.. get it. Even in early access it's pretty good, and at $35.. totally worth it.

Yea i'm seeing the loyalty discount too at $30USD which is around $45AUD... I own only the -700 for FS20. Still not decided to buy the -800 or not for FS24 even at this price.

To be fair I'm just sick of the same aircraft, for the last 15 years to be honest. Release something new and they'll have my money... Will pass for now.

Yeah - that's why I'm (presently) leaning towards not upgrading my -600 & -700 for 2024. I was able to get the -800 for $30, and (for me) One Is Enough 🙂

Plus, I'm DEFINITELY getting the 744, whenever that may arrive, so it's not like PMDG will go hungry 😉

In re the BBS SR-71, I'll echo @JonathanC  and say it's already money well spent. I'm just now delving into it, and it looks like BBS put quite some extra effort into this one (e.g., having recordings of the IRL SR-71 Pilot and RSO sounding the checklists off for you). In my one brief flight so far, on "Easy Mode" (there's four levels of realism!), I must say the visuals, sounds, and handling while airborne are all quite satisfying, esp given the Beta status. My only gripe is the nosewheel steering is twitchy (which is common across most MSFS addons, so not a knock on the SR itself). And that's easily tuned out with some curves and sensitivity in the joystick settings, anyway.

Here's a short "review" video by a Tuber who likes military addons and is fairly objective when it comes to his opinions. He also pays very close attention to performance optimization as he was originally on the Xbox platform:

Jon Beckett usually does long form vids, and he seems to get on well with it while flying a "realistic" mission profile that highlights the IRL flight envelope limitations:

Maybe not a daily driver like the 737 is, but a fascinating way to get outside one's comfort zone, nonetheless. 👍

So then what happens with people who acquired the 800 at the 2020 market place, is our only option to buy it from PDMG  without discount  ?

No. You will be able to buy it through the marketplace with the same discount.
