  • I visited my son this morning in Newcastle (EGNT - although he doesn't live at the airport 😄). I've had a good 90 minute session with the PMDG 737-800 for MS2024 and here are my thoughts:- P

  • What a stupid organization to find and select the right aircraft+livery. In the MSFS 2024 menu we have now 5 entries for the PMDG 738-800 together with MS/Asobos configure/variant/livery options it is

I got it no problem. In the middle of my first flight. Sounds are much better and the flight deck textures seem crisper.

Did I feel it was more expensive than I thought? Sure. But it's not a sum I was opposed to paying.

I am very happy with my purchase and that is really the only thing that matters to me.

same for me unfortunately.

No biggie indeed but yet it leaves my with a bad feeling.

Wasn't it the -700 first that came out first for 2020 knowing the -800 is the more popular variant?

Yep - this is the reverse of the original release order. And IIRC, the 700 is dead last, meaning 736 and 739 release next.

700 is due in Feb, according to Randazzo. Something about having so many different body styles...? But AFAIK, there aren't any more variants to the 700 than the 800, so who knows?

Anyhoo, I can still fly the 2020 version in 2024, so that'll tide me over until Feb. 🤙

The fwd lav door lower left side when you zoom in has a misaligned pixel...I thought they said it was ready 😏

I gave it a shot, too, following Ryan's instructions. No Go for me after several permutations.

Oh well, I had been set to wait until Feb, so no harm, no foul.

Glad at least a few of us were able to get the discount! 😁👍

No. It's working like Ryan says right now😃

I bought the 700 only when it was released and thought I'd have to wait until February too.

I logged into my store account, put the 800 in the cart and when I went to payment it applied the discount to the transaction. I have the 800 for £23 and it's just downloaded through OC3 and.....wait for it...wait for it...yep, flying it now!

Sweet😆.

Version, not variant. Per their website.

@ryanbatc Nice spot mate, cheers for the info🫡.

I have a strange feeling they're not going to sell many 700's come February....

I had to reboot the computer and take a shower before it worked. I had bought the 700 from PMDG for MSFS but was able to purchase the 2024 version 737-800 for $30.

MCDU: MENU -> PMDG SETUP -> Equipment -> Page 16. Flight Tablet at the bottom.

few flights done, local pattern work. Unbelievably refined, perfected and performance FPS equal or better than any default aircraft I feel like I am using it in FS2020 which was what I have been using for the last many months to keep PMDG 737 alive. You need to tweak your sound settings to get the full effect in FS2024 basicaly cockpit slider to 9% and engines to about 35%.

BAM it is incredible!! No less than basically, perfection.

I own the 737-700 and -600. I have to wait. 😞

Correction: I have to pay 30$ with loyalty bonus 🙂

Achim

I own the 600, 700 & 900. What is this loyalty bonus? I see you don't have the 800 either but would like to have it.

This is a really tiny detail, I know. Maybe I'm being unreasonable. I like the plane. It looks great. But...

If you're making a 2024 native version, going all out to make details matter. Why not make your stair truck have collisions so they are usable in walkaround mode? It's such a small thing, but it means they are effectively pointless otherwise. GSX stairs have collisions, so I have to use that.

Like I'm actually impressed by the details in walkaround mode. Like being able to operate the air stairs from the ground.

And all the little hatches you can open. And the segway in the back cargo hold. It's really neat.

Just make the stairs walkable!

Bought it with my discount for $30, and happy!

But if I have one of my Thrustmaster buttons set to “reverse thrust”, how does one engage it on landing?

Bring throttles back to idle, then kit the assigned key and advance the throttles again, or ???  (I DO manage to successfully engage thrust reverse in the XP12 default and Zibo 737, but can’t seem to master it here though it does engage then not?)

SILKY smooth FPS on my rig (good), and like having an old friend back.

Speaking of friends, I have one from Hifh School that flies 737s for Southwest, and see why he loves this plane.
