What?! I did not „manage to get it“. I put it in the cart and saw a „loyalty discount“ which looked legit and paid it. I was even posting elsewhere about a nice gesture from RSR. If they ever blame me for their incapacity to apply discounts correctly I will return my copy and ask my money back.

  • I visited my son this morning in Newcastle (EGNT - although he doesn't live at the airport 😄). I've had a good 90 minute session with the PMDG 737-800 for MS2024 and here are my thoughts:- P

  • What a stupid organization to find and select the right aircraft+livery. In the MSFS 2024 menu we have now 5 entries for the PMDG 738-800 together with MS/Asobos configure/variant/livery options it is

If PMDG had a sense of humor over the "couple cups of coffee" thing, they'd sponsor the coffee trolley at Expo next year.

word not allowed, tried to buy it but it looks like I'm not getting a discount, I assume one must own the 800 variant specifically (I own the 700) to get the discount...bummer.

Took me several tries, and I gave up and walked away a few times (had to give some money to BBS for their excellent SR-71 that also released yesterday).

When I tried a different browser (Firefox), logged in, and then added to my cart, the discount immediately applied. I even let THAT sit there for awhile to fully consider. Came back over an hour later, was still logged in, the discount still applied, so I went for it.

Maybe they "fixed" it by now. But I almost kinda feel like it might have been an, "oops...did I do THAT?" move by PMDG.

Really??? They are losing money and can't bother to check? Wow. That is not something I expected.

.. Well good for all of us! They won't fix the bug then and we can continue to "troll"

Fair point.

But they didn't lose money on me because I never would've bought the 738 if it wasn't offered for $30. I am (was) perfectly satisfied with the -700.

So even if it a legit bug, they made another sale that wasn't otherwise coming. 🙂

Nah, you may think you got a loyalty discount (and your credit card statement may agree), but you are, in fact, a troll.

Who are you going to believe? PMDG? Or your own lying eyes (and lying wallet)?

At $30, it's good value!

The true gag would be to resell a White Label coffee brand with a PMDG "Captains' Fly All Night Coffee" logo on the front. 😆

Pretty much my take as well. I like the look of the BBJ but have no particular love for the -800. My preferred 737 is actually the Captain SIm -100 version for P3D. I figure I won't be bothering to upgrade my -700 so it really is a like-for-like AFAIC. I might upgrade my -600 if the 2024 version is the same sort of price as the original, which I seem to remember was cheaper than the others anyway.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Exactly.

I might skip the 700 upgrade myself, since there is a legit -800 BBJ2 in this package.

I like the old 732 that FlyJSim did for XP 11 - the classics have definite appeal 🙂

It would be great if PMDG offered the same 60% discount on the 736 (and to be consistent, they really should). If so, that would knock the upgrade fee down to $14 - absolute No Brainer.

For those of you got it, noting this section of the PMDG documentation where they list the "What's new": have you seen any improvements in ground handling, edge-of-envelope flight dynamics such as the scenario mentioned below, etc?

Flight Model

The entire flight and ground model has been updated to MSFS 2024 specifications. Feedback from type-rated 737 pilots within our development team has been incorporated to refine handling characteristics. Special focus was given to edge-of-the-envelope behavior. For example, an engine-out landing at the maximum demonstrated crosswind component (33 knots) is now achievable within the model’s aerodynamic envelope.

Ground handling is improved, and taxing is much better than before.
Now we need to be careful with their choice of words, and ASOBOS problem with setting a wind velocity manually over the ground, runway elevation. During my testing, 20T of fuel, 10% PAX load, 33 KTS manually x-wind during t.o. at V1 cut on the critical side, the airplane behaved nicely. BUT, looking at the ND wind data, the actual wind was only 17 KTS, requiring almost full rudder to keep it on centerline. During climb out, wind will increase slowly and reach about 1,000 FT, I observed a correct wind velocity of 33 KTS. Now, during the approach to landing, with the same data, passing again through 1,000 FT wind started losing strength, and about over the threshold, it was again showing about 17 KTS. At these conditions and values, pretending to have 33 KTS is ok. I looked for different airports where METARs showed 30 KTS and verified them on the ND during t.o. and landing. The results are entirely different.
The real winner here is the Ifly737, much better, stable, smooth on taxi and speed transition during t.o and landing.
PMDG needs more tuning, and ASOBO needs to fix the issue I mentioned.

Well PMDG is really back , and SU4 is also amazing.

Exactly my thought, as a perennial 736 lover...🙂...

40% of $35 is $14...in the vicinity of a couple of Coffees...with a shot of this and that in each ...🙂...from the (ubiquitous) chain ...

Let's see.

Ha!

not to get too sidetracked:

When I think of all the coffee that I NEVER buy from any chain, these upgrades are actually free for me!

(just don’t ask me about all those pints at the pub, tho!)

🤣
