VNAV is what it reads from the programmed FMC, do you have any inputs in the FMC in terms of waypoints and performance figures insterted?

Yes a downloaded and Installed from Simbrief.

Are the F/D both on?

Does LNAV engage?

Does it say anything on the FMC scratchpad when you try to engage VNAV?

Is the LEGS page filled out on the vertical profile area? I.E. speed/Vertical height?

Is the PERF INT page filled out correctly with all boxes filled in?

Is there a cruise alt inserted in the VNAV cruise page of the FMC?

Both FD's are on.

LVAV works fine

When I press the VNAV button it does'nt illuminate or no message on scatchpad

legs page show vertical profile for TO and landing

Perf page is filled in completely except for fuel remaining

Cruse Alt is in the VNAV cruse page is set

Ok, I think I might have this for you (hopefully!)

Have you set the gear lever to 'OFF' (the middle position) and not just 'UP' (the top position).

I recall I once had the same issue as you with VNAV (in the 2020 version) and found out that VNAV wouldn't engage unless the full raft of 'after take off' requirements had been met - which included the gear being "up and OFF".

Caveat.. an exception to the above is when VNAV is armed on the ground.  Are you trying to arm VNAV on the ground, or set it once airborne?

Got 4 flights since release. Im not bashing PMDG, but Im not seeing value in the upgrade!

POSITIVES

• The cockpit windows now OPEN, for the first time in PMDG 737 history!

• There is a headset on the left side, behind the captain... click on that and you get noise cancellation headset sound effect.

Hmm i had the same yesterday on my first flight out of ENGM. I couldnt even arm LNAV as well but it might be because of the SID (RIBBE6D out of 19R)

Have you set cruise altitude on the MCP?

Can anybody tell me if the there is the ability to move, slide or hide the captains seat? There was in the P3D version which ported over to MSFS 2020, but the 777 it was removed. 

This is important for some of us with triple monitor setups who need to move the viewpoint rearwards to setup a good field of view.

have you entered your dest fields in the fmc had this the other day

You need an “end of descent” point. If you don’t have that, you won’t and can’t get VNAV. 
 

E/D points are usually runways or the bottom altitude on a STAR. You run into issues if you have an arrival without any altitude restrictions or you don’t load up an arrival at all or you don’t load an approach in with an arrival that has no altitude restrictions. 
 

The airplane will do its best to find some way to give you and E/D. However you gotta help it out some times.
