  • I visited my son this morning in Newcastle (EGNT - although he doesn't live at the airport 😄). I've had a good 90 minute session with the PMDG 737-800 for MS2024 and here are my thoughts:- P

  • What a stupid organization to find and select the right aircraft+livery. In the MSFS 2024 menu we have now 5 entries for the PMDG 738-800 together with MS/Asobos configure/variant/livery options it is

  • Yup, PMDG sometimes picks the most bizarre places to draw the realism line. Like the time people (including me) were requesting the ability to have the thrust reverser on the throttle axis as an

I love this aircraft already, but I had a really weird issue on arrival at Brisbane, probably my flying.

I disconnected the autothrottle and the autopilot and there was this strange hissing noise, almost like the packs, but not that.  My engine N1 was stuck at about 37.  I was able to land but very fast.  It couldn't have been my joystick calibration because on landing I was able to come to a standstill with N1 at 21 or so.  The autothrottles were definitely off.

I have thousands of hours in the 700 in MSFS 2020 and was wondering what on earth it could be.

By the way. I own the 700 on MSFS 2020 and wasn't discounted at checkout when I bought the thing?  Could I claim something back if that's an error?

It was only discounted for 800 users who had it in 2020. Was a bug where some got the discount for owning the 700.

In walk around mode, you can see inside the wing through the landing lights. Obvious bug

I had that issue when I first loaded it but it fixed itself when I went into the cockpit and the plane initialized itself.

Well holy moly... after about 20 tries with 4 browsers I just got the discount moments ago.

They did an excellent job with textures inside and out, and a very plausible cockpit interior. Outstanding performance, at least on my PC.

Now, the unfortunate bugs brought from the previous versions are still here:
-While in AP and the airplane is initiating a turn, left or right, the FD should remain perfectly centered.
FD.png
-Even though there are some adjustments regarding the interface between the AP and FD in LNAV, we still have that bouncing left/right indication. Should be none.
- Same bank bouncing issue during turns before it settles down.
-Still very light feeling in controls and rudder.
-The same issue with the VSD during the turns within the swat.
-On EFB, still no information about the critical field length where the crew must verify TODR ≤ TODA and ASDR ≤ ASDA, etc.

That information required to do those calculations is not contained in the FMS Nav data that Navigraph supplies. It may (or may not) be supplied in the AIRACs used by R/W FMS systems. The simulator EFB knows the total runway length, but one cannot assume that automatically equates to TODA (for instance). The EFBs used in r/w aircraft usually calculate takeoff and landing performance data from a separate app that is independent of the aircraft systems, and contains its own dedicated database. My company uses ARINC Direct for performance calculations which is a subscription service of Collins Aerospace.

It would not be reasonable to expect any flight sim add-on aircraft to be able to do these kinds of calculations - the required data is just not available in a consumer flight simulator. The best that can be done is to do a basic balanced field length takeoff calculation based on total published runway length taking into account aircraft weight, engine thrust setting and OAT.

I had to reboot the computer and take a shower before it worked. I had bought the 700 from PMDG for MSFS but was able to purchase the 2024 version 737-800 for $30.

I had to do the same, but finally got the discount applied and downloaded!

Purchased today via PMDG store. But the 737-800 does not show up in OC3, which I updated yesterday. Because I did not receive a download link, I cannot install.

Edit: Sorry, wrong setting in OC3. Now its getting installed as I write.

I installed several liveries. But in the sim I don;t see them all...  Some are present some are absent. I checked different variants of the plane but I don;t find the livery I want to use... Any ideas?

And also, how to close the window? I opened the window but I don;t see any click spots to close it...

just realized all setting are (still) in the MCDU. Were they not supposed to go into the EFB?
