787-9 Dreamliner for FS24 - Project Griffin Announcement

Featured Replies

We are pleased to formally introduce Project Griffin, our upcoming Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner long-haul aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Known internally for some time, Griffin represents our most ambitious aircraft project to date. It is being developed with a clear objective; to deliver a modern widebody simulation that prioritises depth, accuracy, performance and long-session usability.

Project Griffin is being developed with active Boeing 787 Dreamliner pilots on the Vector team; ensuring real-world operational experience informs every stage of development. From cockpit workflows to system logic and day-to-day usability, pilot insight is embedded directly into how the aircraft is designed, tested, and refined.

Our goal is not simply to reproduce an aircraft visually, but to build one that feels coherent and credible across all phases of flight, from cold and dark preparation through cruise and into arrival.

Key pillars guiding development include:

  • Accuracy in modelling and system behaviour
  • High visual fidelity inside and out
  • Performance-conscious design
  • Immersive audio and environmental detail
  • Support for shared and collaborative flying experiences

This is not just another aircraft release. It is our vision of what the best long-haul aircraft in flight simulation should be. Coming in 2026!

We will also be present at FSWeekend in March and look forward to engaging with members of the community there.

Further details can be found at www.vector-sim.com

Wishing you the best. We deeply need a 787.

Oh please, please let this be good!

We need new aircraft devs and someone else who can deliver high quality Boeing aircraft. There are so many 787s flying around, it's long overdue in the sim.

Will it just cover the -9 or are there plans to do the -8 and -10 as well at a later date?

P_7878 is going to be rather excited by this announcement, although he may have to change his name to P_7879

The Aero Dynamics T-38C has turned out rather well. Very complicated glass avionics and they seem to have done a thorough, quality job of it.

While it’s an interesting strategy to deliver the T-38 as practice for the DC10, at least we now know they can, indeed, make a good addon (and one that wasn’t/isn’t easy to simulate in any regard).

Who Is Vector

We can attest to the team at Vector being active developers for a long time, behind projects and aircraft already out in the marketplace. This is a team who want to build an advanced and complete airliner experience with an attention to detail.

Their goal is to provide a product that will be authentic both visually and with enough system depth to keep you excited and coming back time and time again.

Well, the last new aircraft dev sharing a name with a mythological winged creature (Fenix) went quite well, so hopefully we see the same here!

Not to sound negative (or cynical is perhaps a better term) but I'll come back when there are some images to see, and not just highly-energised marketing talk.

Does this developer have a track record?  Involvement with other complex releases?    Does the team include programmers and artists who have a track record?

If the answer to all of these question is no, then I'd be concerned that this is yet another project where someone has tons of enthusiasm and willingness to build up social media excitement, but bites off more than they can chew.

We desperately need a complex 787, but we don't need another project that builds up people's hopes then slips from year to year to year.

I wish you well and I look forward to my cynicism being crushed!

Totally good to have the cynicism and keep expectations controlled.. but in terms of images, the one they posted above is actual in-game screenshot it says.

And re: their track record, see my post above about what FSElite says, apparently the Vector devs being active for a long time already behind other projects and aircraft. We'll find out I guess.

Wouldn't that be something, to have a boeing developer equivalent to Fenix and bring competition to the heavy aircraft Boeing market. One can only wish. Looking forward to hearing feedback from FSWeekend.

Wow, what a surprise!  And very good of you to take up where Quality Wings left off!

I am loving how new 3rd party developers spring out of nowhere in the MSFS market.  This is the strength of the MSFS market, that it attracts developers from everywhere, and even many new developers.  I think Fenix is one of the best examples of a new developer that was tremendously successful in MSFS.  If Bluebird's 757 sells very well, they will be another very successful new developer.  And I hope you guys sell a lot of copies of your 787 and you guys become a success story like Fenix too!  Wish you the best of luck, and we look forward to your 787!

I had a funny feeling their website's yellow text looked familiar LOL

The answer to your main question is Yes. We have team members that have worked on many aircraft over the years for many sims and in particular FS20 and FS24 with extensive knowledge of the aircraft and sims.

We have active 787 pilots on our dev team also.
