I recall the lithium-ion battery incidents might have started not long after I had put to my Dreamliner coffee mug to use. Regarding desktop models, a funny thing happened to me in the Seattle Airport Security line, when I was returning from Seattle back to Chicago. Pressed for time, I drove directly from Everett to Seattle–Tacoma airport. In my hurry, I'd left a (gift shop) metal model of the 747-8 in my carry-on luggage, and the metal detector went wild (it was around the years when aviation security had just tightened significantly compared to our previous era). So, they singled me out, made me open my carry-on and someone there held the tiny 747 in his hands, and our conversations went as follows: "What's this?" "A model airplane, I picked up from a visit today to the Boeing factory but forgot to pack into my check-in luggage." "What airplane is it?" "This is a Boeing 747." "Can you be more specific?" "This one is a -8 variant of the 747." I don't recall much after that, but the security agent probably determined that I was one of those amateur aviation enthusiasts that often visit Seattle, without any bad intentions, and stopped the interrogation, so, I made it to the gate on time.
February 27Feb 27 As sceptical as we simmers always are, this is very exciting news 🙂 I really wish you all the best with development and look forward to the product release. Specs: 11900K (5ghz), 64GB ram 3600mhz, RTX 3080 ti
February 27Feb 27 Just a year of development for something like this? Sounds sketchy. But while I'm sekptical I also remain an optimistic attitude and hope they took some inspiration from the other team with the mythological bird creature in its name and build something remarkabe in secrecy. I will however wait with my decison and verdict until streamers like BlackBox711 who flew the 789 until he retired a couple of months ago, get their hands on it and evaluate it. Because he never gives recommendations to buy something and just presents what he sees and then invites his viewers to consider for themselves if that is worth a purchase.

Unless MS/Asobo make the source modeling files available to this developer (Vector Studio), they would have to start from scratch. I think a better option would be to buy the 3D modeling source from Quality Wings (which maybe what happened, who knows), get that into 3DSMax and update as needed. As far as Vector-sim.com ... protected owner hosted by GoDaddy. There is a company called Vector Simulations from Czech Republic that did some work for Train Sim World but no idea if it's the same company. Still looking forward to a new 787 release. February 27Feb 27 There is more information on who Ellie from Vector is. Ellie posted at the official MSFS forum today: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/u/ellsgaming/activity Buf if you look af Ellie's posting history, she formally represented iniBuilds in the past. So when Vector says their team is made up of flightsim employees from other projects and other well known companies, at least with Ellie, there seems to be some credibility there. Now if Ellie left iniBuilds for this startup, it must have been alluring enough to leave a stable job with iniBuilds for the startup. Whoever the head of Vector is, they had enough pull to convince an iniBuilds employee to join their team. Edit: A330 Driver posted a Youtube video and he did a lot of digging on Ellie. According to A330 Driver, Ellie is with Gaya, so Gaya could be involved with this 787 in some capacity. A330 Driver is also speculating Gaya is working with PMDG on their 747. Interesting rumors…maybe this (hitherto unknown) Ellie might come to the rescue of us 787 lovers. In contrast, I recall, Corey Ford and Ernie Alston were already household (FSX) names, before they developed 757/787. I particularly used to like that FSBUILD flight planner program by Ernie Alston.

February 28Feb 28 I'm definitely looking forward to the 787. Interesting how Qantas apparently deliberated for quite a while between using the 787 and A350 for the SYD-LHR and SYD-JFK nonstops. I still like to fly those ultra long hauls, but definitely cheating. I avoid all the sid's, stars, airspace closures, and only use Great Circle Mapper and Earth Nullschool Wind Atlas to plot a few waypoints along the way and off I go. Not getting into the background but on the surface it must be incredibly annoying for the airlines to deal with so many airspace restrictions, enroute diversions and such. The SYD-LHR nonstop is supposed to be commencing soon, but seems like a very tough one to plan. SYD-JFK would seem a bit more flexible regarding routing. Edited February 28Feb 28 by Antipodeslonghaul

February 28Feb 28 Where did anyone get the idea that this aircraft will only be in development for one year? The statement regarding a release in 2026 almost certainly means that it has been in development for a long time up to this point.
