The point is that we did not have this problem barely four days ago. What has changed? Why should I need to install an ad blocker when I have never needed one before? The absolute silence regarding th

Wait a minute. I just opened Microsoft Edge and went to Avsim. No addons, no extensions. But I saw no adds on avsim. So now I"m not sure what is going on.

Weird. A few minutes ago I viewed this page and AdblockPlus reported 12 ads. I just went to a different page and came back and now it reports zero.

-------

I still can get the YouTube initial ads but there's a technique that blocks them every time.

-------

Aaaand, a couple of minutes later the ad counter is back to 11.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

I use Edge and like others here starting yesterday I am seeing many annoying ads; I believe it's an Avsim issue because going to other websites I frequent I don't see this.

I hope this is a short lived "problem" and Avsim isn't suddenly allowing all of these ads to proliferate here. I may have to change browsers (which I would rather not do) or stop coming here, which I don't want to do either.

The annoying ads are too much to take though, so I'll have to do something.

I would have thought that one of the moderators would have commented on this by now, if only to say that they are investigating, or that this is a new and exciting feature designed exclusively for AVSIM members to enjoy on a regular basis

I'll bet the adds on Avsim are from the server that hosts Avsim. And not generated by Avsim itself. (But I haven't seen a single add on Avsim ever).

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Maybe it's because I'm somewhat sleepy this morning, but reading this sentence gives me the feeling it's about an UAP.  Maybe we should ask Martin to look into this. 💤

Yeah I was about to put up a post about this and noticed this thread, the number of ads are utterly out of  control, right hand side, bottom page, between posts and a full page ad every time you click on a post that you than have to click close on, hell as I'm posting this there is am massive add right above this which is playing audio and everything.  It's getting so annoying I don't even feel like visiting avsim anymore.  I appreciate that these things generate income but the balance way off now!

As I’m writing this now all the adverts seem to have disappeared for me, thank goodness

I just tried Microsoft Edge, on which I don't have any ad blocking extensions, and the intrusive ads are still showing.

Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)

I have been on Avsim since before FSX days. I have never seen one single add on Avsim. I don't see any today. I have no clue to what you people are talking about. I use Firefox (because it is not owned by Google and therefore does not protect Youtube adds, Google owns Youtube). If I did use Chrome or Edge I am guessing I still would see zero adds on Avsim (I would still see some on Youtube).

Chrome, Edge, Firefox have lots and lots of different add blocker addons. Most of them do not work hardly at all. Remove it and try another. In a hour or so of trying one after the other, I predict you will find one that works on Avsim and your issue with adds will end.

It's the same with other addons. For instance my Youtube downloader will download all YT videos very fast with one click. And I can do one click on a YT playlist and it will download all of the videos on that playlist. Even if there are 200 of them on the playlist. That will take time of course. The YT downloader I use is EaseUS downloader. It is subscription payware but it works perfectly and the DL speeds are much faster than the couple dozen or so YT downloader addons which are not very good.

The addblocker I use and show above is free.

I use FF and still seeing ads everywhere, I see ad hear more ads than contents!  Ad blockers have their own quirks, end of the day ads should be easy to ignore if done in a balanced manner, something has definitely changed as atm they are impossible to ignore!!  😡

I’m not sure why, I was suffering with the ads popping up all over the screen in the morning, but now I’m not even seeing a single ad, I don’t know what’s changed for me.

Is it just me, or have some annoying adverts suddenly appeared overnight on this site? A bar that rises from the bottom of the screen, a large advert at the bottom of a forum page, a small window that opens up on the lower right, and also a full page advert now and again when I change pages. I would prefer these adverts to be disabled on my PC, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Just let me know if I need to make a donation to sort it out.

Same!! The pop up ads are intense. Full on carpet bombing.
