April 9Apr 9 so now comparing it to the 800 I can honestly say I don't see any difference in the detail other than maybe the rivets being a little more noticeable on the fuselage. I feel like the high detail part of this update is missing David

If I didn't own the 2020 version and had paid $75 for this (while already owning the 738 for 2024), I'd perhaps be a little deflated. So, mixed feedback from me. Judging it on it's own merits, it's fantastic. Judging it on the improvements it makes over the existing 738 textures, it's a little underwhelming. Oh, yeah - the several videos from PMDG for this clearly made heavy use of shaders/effects. I guess the good thing is it was on every single shot and not just the closeup stuff. IIRC, most of the criticisms for the 2024 art centered around the cabin, inside surfaces of spoilers & flaps and the exterior in general. AFAIK/IMHO the cockpit has always been good/great, so I'd almost expect to be underwhelmed with changes there. I talked myself into getting this despite already having the 738, so I'll be doing some comparisons of my own over the weekend. It'll be interesting to see what shows up side by side between the 700 & 800 Edited April 10Apr 10 by UrgentSiesta
April 10Apr 10 Ngxu update was the best update I’ve seen from PMDG. And it was unexpected. They promised nothing prior. April 10Apr 10 I'm watching a considerable gpu/vram hit with this -700 and the "exceed gpu memory" (don't recall the exact phrase) msfs 2024 pop-up appearing for the first time in ages. SN737
April 10Apr 10 I stopped flying airliners, but I do want the BBJ. For $30 it could be worth it. I'll wait for the experts to chime in. MSFS

I owned the -700 in 2020. Mostly only fly it as BBJ. I started browsing paints I wanted to make but realized most are already done for 2020 - so hopefully those guys update theirs to 24. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 10Apr 10 Just completed a flight from PAKT to PANC. The TO and climb was okay. About 20 mins into cruise, at 36000 ft, the AP disconnected and the auto trim went fully down. The plane nose-dived 15000 ft before I was able to recover, I had to disable the auto trim to stop it from trying to nose dive. I thought Boeing fixed this issue, a few years back when a few 737 would nose dive for no reason. However, the rest of the flight was fine. Until about 3 miles out from touchdown. All of of sudden the AP disconnected again and the plane veered left and tried to dive again. Not sure what happened it was flying the ILS approach perfectly. I did a go around and hand flew the plane back to the runway and landed without any issue. Not sure why this happened because I flew the same route yesterday in the 737-800 and I flew the route perfectly and landed perfectly. Will try another flight in the 700 later and see if the AP goes crazy again. April 10Apr 10 I barely flew the 2020 version so to me this 2024 version looks really nice! April 10Apr 10 First - No GSX seated passengers - I see them enter the cabin and immediately disappear. Second - Autopilot disconnect on LNAV/VNAV and never can get it to reconnect , not even into HDG mode...... What am I missing ?.... Edited April 10Apr 10 by aerostar

It'll be interesting to see what shows up side by side between the 700 & 800 Took a VERY quick VFR hand-flying hop of less than 30 mins. On my mid-range rig I couldn’t perceive much of a difference in the cockpit, mainly focused on the instruments. This doesn’t bother me because I was pretty happy with the cockpit to begin with. I’ll have to compare screen grabs. Getting up close and personal on the exterior, I do feel as though that’s much more detailed than I remember. Rivets, decals, panel & door lines, flaps/slats/spoilers, etc. But again, to be sure, I’ll have to compare screen shots. In the end, I still feel like it’s a great looking addon that seems to have improved over what I remember. And I may just skip the comparos, because TBH this update is already more than pleasing enough for me. OTOH, I did get quite a few VRAM messages, so hopefully PMDG will optimize that a bit more in the near future.
April 10Apr 10 I'm glad I did not jump on the train... I am saving the money for the Fokker. Best regards, Holger

April 10Apr 10 It's "interesting” how the fuselage of this plane has a window when viewed from the outside, but when you look from the inside—for example, to set up a view or camera in Chaseplane—there's no window at all... 13600KF - AIO - 32GB DDR4 - RTX4070 - UW1440p GSync - USB DAC - 2TB NVMe - Windows 11 Pro - Gladiator NXT EVO - 1 Gbps Fiber - MSFS 2024
