Let me interject here by saying: Objection. It is very much the case.

I only use the AIG models and while the landing gear does vanish way sooner than on MS2020 it is only one aircraft model where it really shows up so late that it becomes a problem and that is the 787.

The default ASOBO AI models also suffer from it way more than AIG models.

I only use the AIG models, and there are a LOT more AI planes in that collection that suffer from the landing gear problem. In fact, the landing gear disappears on most of them at a distance where I can clearly see it happening. If I notice it, then it is an issue.

As a guy who spends every six months in Level D sims, the weather  in 2024 is miles better than how it looks in a real sim.  First off there is no live weather in a real sim, so it’s all presets.

No surprise that there is now again radio silence regarding the AI plan gear issue, even by @SeedyL. Only until in the next thread or Q&A, it will be claimed that it is solved again and people proof them again wrong followed by another sequence of radio silence. Always the same story, it would be way more honest if they would simply mark certain bugs as above and beyond their capabilities, but no. As for the weather engine bugs. Empty words of nonsense over and over again and certain bugs now exist for several years. But hey, we will get the seventh WU of the same region soon, no? Sick of this «community interaction» which is none, only if you by chance talk about something that was anyway on their internal list. Or gamebreaking. Other than that, this whole community fuzz is worth not the energy wasted by entering something into Zendesk, forums or whatever means. Pure waste of time, as my rant post just now...

Some of us don't want aircraft floating around while taxying.  It's 2026 and it's strange that this is the case.  If that doesn't bother you at all, that is also fine.

If it were only landing gear … like I posted, it’s jetway wheels, ground service vehicles, car park vehicles morphing into other vehicle types, or into completely different service carrier, taxi signs, and more … disappear then magically appear and this is with Default Asobo content … soooo

Yeah, that is frustrating … not being honest about the problem.  I’d rather they just say “we’re not going to do anything about it” and that would be that and stop stringing us along … I switch to XP12 and move on and nothing to see here … that way Carlos doesn’t have to be assaulted with us complainers  🙂

I am not sure why this is a surprise to anyone. How many floating airliners do you see at real world airports? It is a massive immersion breaker.

What benchmarks have you done to prove any of your assertions?  Do you have any data to back up any of this?  Even just one PC running Office then not would be a useful test (even if not statistically significant).  You don't do that though, instead just make wild assumptions.

The problem is, stopping anything from running on a PC frees up resources and could in theory improve performance.  The key thing though is "by how much?".  Are these performance gains actually noticeable?  That's the important part of the question.  My bet would be that Office barely has a noticeable difference for the few things it does in the background when not running, but that's just a guess, because I haven't done any testing (nor do I care to).

As an IT professional, it bothers me when people make massive assumptions and pass them off as fact.

do a control alt delete and look at the memory hog office is ... sorry you love office, to me i despiste it... outlook too its garbage and is forced down employees throats... it does not belong on a sim pc, period. Otherwise your assertions are that it does not degrade performance your claim nees proof more than me prooving it hurts the sim why waste my time injecting that garbage into my sim. I have used peoples sims with office and outlook running, anti virus and they ccan't sim at all... they are a disaster ... so that explains a lot of people that just accept this junk and then have no clue why they can't run any sim

With all due respect you seem to know little of which you speak.  Anyone in todays world who negates using anti-virus has no business telling people how to run or improve their PC.  YMMV. TANSTAAFL. Blue skies,

I did that for the last year whilst avoiding this place. Sad to see it hasn't changed. I'm happy that more people are noticing the LOD culling, though. It drove me insane last year, and was a major reason for quitting avsim for a while and MSFS 2024.

Open browsers can eat more memory.  FWIW I don't run office on my gaming PC.  I do believe in separating work PC from play, but more because of security.  Many places have policies against people working on their own devices for a reason.  Easier to have a dedicated work laptop that I can swap signals to anyway.  Outlook can be a pig when running (it is notorious for this), so just don't run it?

You do realize that there's a huge difference between a program installed vs running?

I'm on a work PC (with all the "junk" running as you call it) and I have zero memory issues.  Of course you should keep your gaming PC lean as possible, but your fascination with Office is interesting.

My big issue with you is you keep making different points regarding antivirus.  At times you seem to say all av is bad, however in your video you gave the good advice to just run MS Defender and dump the overpriced payware options.  This is why I have a problem with your advice, you aren't always specific.  I don't want people to turn off ALL antivirus, including the built in Defender.

Leaving people exposed to ransomware is just dangerous.  The average user won't know what to do when something like this pops up on their system.  I get calls from so many people asking, "How do I buy bitcoin?".  It is always the same thing - "when did your PC get hacked?".  It is never fun being the person to tell them they need to wipe their system and lose everything (either they don't have backups, or the backups get encrypted too).

All due respect I have these installed and have no problems. Ultra everything and can easily reach 100+fps. Anyone saying to get rid of anti virus is just asking for trouble it came in handy for people on a certain developer back in the day. Only thing I will say if people use Google Chrome that is the most intensive.

For people having issues please don't listen to this person. Anyone with a brain would not uninstall anti virus even the stock Microsoft defender.

In an ideal world, my sim system would be completely dedicated.  However, not having the luxury of running two PC's in my home office, the Office suite has been installed on every system I've ever used to sim on going back decades, with exactly... ZERO issues.  None.  Zilch.  Nada.

Of course I don't run Outlook or Word or any of the suite while simming.  And in a quiescent state, the only thing left running is a small piece which takes up almost no system memory and uses no cycles while I sim.  I could disable that, but there's simply no reason.  It is in no way a memory (or any other sort of resource) hog when not being used, and as others note, it pales in comparison to things like browsers even when it IS in use.

Don't like Office?  Fine, no problems, don't use it - but your intense dislike doesn't magically make it some kind of weird sim boogeyman that destroys the sim experience for all.

how can so many still be having issues? Most AVSIMMERS are experienced and do not have problems like the Facebook crowd. I have NEVER had an issue from FS2020 ONWARD why??? just a good clean gaming laptop, comes built married with the proper components from day 1. No home made pc not done right or perhaps anyone with issues has MS OFFICE OR MCCAFFEE loaded...both known evil destroyers of pc performance.

this video is not for most, just those whom continue to have disasters it is really very basic obvious stuff but... perhaps someone will beneift .

So let's get this right; object culling is because people have MS Office installed.....? 😆

Oh and "here's another 7 minute video of nothing pudding™️ that I'll promote, while I'm condescending fellow users by assuming they know nothing and I'm the Jedi Master of MSFS and everyone's Windows installations".

I guess it's pointless my asking if you don't think perhaps you come across a little arrogant with this silly post?  You know, negating the detailed, confirmed issues that people are raising here, by pointing out that it's all their fault, because they don't set their PCs up as you do.
