  1. Count in the upgrade price for a Windows 10 license if you're going to a Skylake processor. Microsoft indicated limited support for Windows 7 and 8 with the newer generation processors. Not sure if or when it will come to pass, but the comment has been made.
  2. Did you install the latest version of Orbxlibs?
  3. Hi Russell, I wish I could confirm the issue, but I just deleted my FSX.SE.CFG and it was rebuilt without issue and FSX:SE started okay. Ernie
  4. "Unofficial", so you will only get user responses here. To get responses from the Orbx staff you'll need the link that Patrick posted above.
  5. Worth is subjective. With enough searching, digging, etc. you might be able to accomplish much of the look that REX gives you, or you can spend the money, let someone else do it and just enjoy your flying. It's frequently available on sale, so you don't even have to pay full price if you're willing to wait a bit. Also, what REX gives is variations of the textures and the ability to easily swap them out, create entire themes, etc., something which is somewhat more difficult if you go the DIY route. So, for me.. yes REX is worth it. Ernie
  6. My initial thought, if this is the first time that you've attempted this, is that you are in Full Screen and not windowed mode. Try Alt+Enter to switch modes to see if that helps..
  7. Sorry, I viewed, but don't use Windows 10, AMD or Radeon graphics. I would guess that some others that viewed are in a similar position.
  8. In Windowed mode I read somewhere that if you click on the 'Maximize/Restore Down' button to restore down the window for a few seconds then maximize you can recover some VAS. As odd as it sounds, it works. Flying the Q400 from Flightbeam's KIAD to Imaginesim's KRDU would result in an OOM error about the time I entered the approach for KRDU. Doing the above a few times during the flight eliminated the issue. If you have FSUIPC4 I would recommend setting up the option to observe your available VAS in the title bar or use the FSX VAS Monitor. Ernie
  9. I typically fly in the midwest and OpenLC NA made a huge difference is the display of redundant ground textures. It is also supposed to have more realistic textures for deserts and other terrain types. So for me, it's a recommended buy. FTX Vector is bit more of a maybe. If you do a lot of GA flying then I would say yes. It corrects some issues with FSX, gives more accurate roads, etc. If you fly only airlines and don't pay much attention to the accuracy of roads, etc. then it is less necessary. It will also cost you a bit of frame rate, although not a sufficient amount to be a issue. However, since both are on sale, now would be the time to get them. Ernie
  10. Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Controls in the Controls.XML file is where the control assignments are kept. Make a backup copy and you should be good to go if the original gets corrupted again.
  11. I've used them with FSX and UT2 for several years to boost my GA traffic. There are a few FS9 model issues, but most are easily dealt with.
  12. I've had this occur when the flight plan hits a 'manual' or 'vector' entry. I try to keep my heading set to the current path so I can use HDG to put the aircraft back onto some track, while I do the DTO stuff. That way I don't have to disengage the AP With the 1.018e I do get ARM APP, but not consistently. Maybe someday I'll figure out what I'm doing incorrectly, or correctly those times I do get it to work. Ernie
  13. Wow! That sounded great.. until I read "fsAerodata includes the capability to drive and simulate SIDs and STAR procedures with the default GPS units (on Prepar3D only)." As I'm a FSX only user that limits its usefulness to me. Bummer Ernie
  14. Hi Gerry, You don't need to post your order number on this forum. It's an 'unofficial' forum, so Orbx doesn't respond. Your best bet is to jump over to the official forum at http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/ Good luck, Ernie
  15. I'm only sorry that Flightbeam has so few airports.. They could get some serious money from me..
  16. Not sure if it applies in your case, but I found it was smoothest when defined in the FSX controls section. Other than my Cessna trim wheel, the hat switch is the only control function I don't have defined in FSUIPC4.
  17. This is pretty much Flight1's position. Other than the $10 single-item coupon and maybe an item or two through other vendors I can't recall ever seeing their stuff on sale.
  18. I think that it's important to remember that what is wanted or expected by the home-user, is not what is wanted or expected by LM's client base, which is military/commercial. While a home-user upgrades their systems 'fairly' frequently, the military is still very much behind the technology curve in many respects. The fact they are as receptive as they are to home-uses amazes me..
  19. Sorry, had planned to answer this shortly after you posted your message but was hoping someone with more experience would step in. I have in playing around, connected two monitors to my 760 and one to the on-board Intel HD Graphics on my ASRock Xtreme4 motherboard to see if it could be done. It worked and I don't recall a significant FPS hit, although I'm sure there was at least a small one. It also required adjusting some settings in the BIOS and there might have been a couple annoyances, but I think it was more with the Intel connected monitor not being as robust as the 760 connected monitors. I wsh I could give more definite answer, but it's been over a year ago and I was in the 'can it be done mode', so once I knew it could.. I deemed the information not important enough to retain. I would recommend doing some Internet searches if you're interested...
  20. Hi Howard, If you have FSUIPC4, would be to turn VAS monitoring on. Instructions are in one of the messages, but I'm not sure if it works in the freeware version. It won't solve your problem, but it will give you an idea of the remaining VAS, so you can see at what point in your flight VAS is being consumed. Other than that, my method of troubleshooting is a bit painful because it involves elimination then the gradual re-introduction of settings and add-ons. Ernie
  21. Also, based the experience I had, I think it's pretty intimidating for a new person who wants to be a controller In the two sessions that I had before I bailed, I felt that I was chugging instead of sipping from the bottle. It was extremely frustrating and demoralizing.
  22. I'm taking the sudden unavailability of Real Air products as 'if I had really wanted it I would have bought it already'. Frankly, I find there are a lot more products that I wish I hadn't bought. Ernie
  23. I moved mine to my home airport, so I could distance out some quick trips..
  24. And you would be correct.. Sorry for the confusion. Eyes were seeing KDTW, brain was thinking KDAL. Ernie
  25. SSJ has some great in- development photos of KDAL on their site. No mention of KABQ though.
