  1. I had a problem that if I added an approach mid-flight, the airplane would do a 180 and go back to the previous waypoint before starting on the approach. I found a video that explain how you can work around this. Thanks to Clumsy for the video.
  2. Hey so I've made a couple of videos on YouTube for X-Plane 11 after migrating from FSX, just wondering on your opinions! Here's one but there's a few others on the channel if you'd like to check them out and give me some feedback?!
  3. I am Alcides, this is my story. What a month May has been, I have produced three videos in May and I am really excited to see the work I have put out. I thought that my story might motivate some of you young future pilots out there. I have been in Flight Simulator since 2003. I fell in love with aviation because a pilot from US airways showed me the cockpit in a flight from Nashville to La Guardia when I was 10 years old. I remember seeing that cabin and seeing the crew go through their flows and thinking " This is my destiny". Since that day I did anything possible to stay connected with aviation. Flight Simulator was my only refuge. I remember thinking that flight simulator was the only part of my life that made any sense to me. Being from a lower income family I did not have the means to have my single parent send me to flight school when I was in my teens so I was forced to work my way through a retail job so I could one day pay my flight school. I got my break when I became a manager at the company I worked for. Quickly I fueled my way to perform better than most in my area because I knew that I could soon start to pay for my flight school. About two years ago I decided that it was time for me to start. Being a Lancaster,PA USA resident I searched on google for flight schools and came in touch with this flight school. www.aerotechservices.com. I told them my dream and I quickly found my self in the left seat to do my discovery flight. I remember that day being 3500 feet in the air that I felt a power and a sensation I can only describe as euphoric. The "Once you touch flight you will for ever spend your days looking towards the skies wondering when you will return" where all I remember thinking about, I had to continue my dream, no matter what. My sister helped me by using helping me get a signature loan so I could get the PPL license. My wife (Got married early) kept me in line and continued motivating me to continue, I cant help admitting that making her proud was one of my biggest motivators. Of course my mother who bought me all my computers and helped keep the dream alive when it seemed against all odds when i was a young boy . I owe everything to those three women. With the money to begin I started my journey. It was hard, there were times that I wanted to cry, perhaps even pound my head against a wall but I kept thinking about that boy in the past that spent hours hoping to one day reach his goal flying in the simulated skies, looking up every time a plane flew by and praying that I will reach my dream. So I continued down the path. I got paired up with my instructor Brandon. We quickly became good friends and it was very apparent to me that he was going to get me through it and he wanted it just as much as I did. There were times that Brandon would call me, text me, send smoke signals in the air to get me to go fly and get it done. Of all the things what I was most terrified of was crosswind landings. It felt like I was never going to get it right but Brandon always told me to be patient and just keep trying. Eventually I got better and it was time to take my check-ride. I passed my check-ride on February 27th,2015. It had to be the happiest day off my life. I spend maybe three weeks sitting at home and I quickly found my self bored so I said to my self "Keep Going". A week later I started my instrument training. Today I am half way done with my IFR training and I am not stopping no matter what. I still fly with Brandon, I will forever thank him for teaching me . Along the way I started making these short movies to better tell my story. I will continue doing so and hopefully I will motivate some of you in your journey. Above all, don't give up continue working towards it. Even if its at snail pace eventually you will all get a break and it will rocket you into your dreams. Moderator please delete. Duplicate
  4. Ok, so I read up on this yesterday, and it could be quite good for simulation. It's not intended as a replacement of a mouse or keyboard. it demonstrates in 2 games, how it can be used, and it could have face recognition. If it will, would it make it better than TrackIR? Video demonstrating it here: It's not out until Q4 2012, so we have ages to wait, but It would be really cool, considering it's the size of a flash drive/pen drive!! What do you think about this?
  5. Hello again, I have had real problems with Google Chrome web browser over the past 3 or 4 days not playing YouTube videos back properly. There was no audio, and the playback would freeze up after about 10 seconds. These same videos played back perfectly using Internet Explorer 9 or Firefox. I am posting this here on Avsim because I blew a ton of time discovering the 'fix' - and in the hopes of lessening someone else's pain - and wasted time. Some folks chose to "opt in" to the HTML5 player trial on YouTube, but any videos that had ADVERTISING EMBEDDED would NOT play back. Since I wanted to be able to view ALL YouTube content without interference, the HTML5 trial was a non-winning solution. The problem has to do with Google Chrome using automatic Flash updates - the 'latest' (Aug 3rd) Adobe Flash Player update has a 'bug' where 5.1 and 7.2 speaker playback within Windows 7 causes the Adobe Flash Player to crash in Google Chrome (freeze up after 10 seconds, or play back with NO AUDIO heard). The temp workaround is to go to your soundcard in Control Panel (properties) and change your sound card properties to STEREO SPEAKERS instead of 5.1 or 7.2 surround-sound speaker setup. Instantly, the 'troubles' are solved. I wouldn't want to bore anyone with all the troubleshooting I did (to no avail) prior to discovering this out on one of the Google Chrome forums. Let's just say as an IT manager, it was both nettlesome and embarrassing at the same moment. If you don't use Chrome, or you don't watch Videos from Mimeo or YouTube or some other sites within Chrome, you're already gone from this post. If you DO use Chrome I can recommend this as a good temporary solution 'for now' until Google engineers have their way with Adobe (maker of Flash). Of course if you are running a big dog surround audio system on your PC, you may not wish to forfeit that benefit for the sake of 'fixing' Chrome. In my case it was a non-issue, I only have stereo speakers and a subwoofer. For the record, I am a big fan of Chrome, partly because the 'sandbox' technology that Google employs within Chrome to protect against hackers is appealing to me. All things considered, I have been satisfied with Chrome for quite some time, though I also have IE and Firefox on my PC. Until this problem occurred, I regarded Chrome as 'bulletproof'. Sigh.
  6. I recently started a YouTube channel and have been posting tutorials and FSX movies. Since I'm not getting a ton of views at this point and therefore am not getting much feed back, I figured I'd ask for some feedback here. I have so far posted two FSX movies, and I'd like to know some ways I can improve them (e.g. filming techniques, camera angles/panning, video effects, music, etc...).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z095kOVWYms&list=UUHc1Ko-0e0VHW2u4m9hNxLQ&index=1&feature=plcphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfdAwIDydO4&list=UUHc1Ko-0e0VHW2u4m9hNxLQ&index=6&feature=plcpThanks,boeing247
  7. Not sure if a thread like this already exists, but I thought it might be interesting to see some videos posted here in the forums instead of just in Youtube which highlights interesting aspects of FSX: Post video links of tricks / landings / effects / airports / new add-ons, etc... I find that on Youtube searching does not always bring things up correctly and sometimes the videos are too long, so how about short videos like 2 mins or less that highlight interesting things to do in FSX? Is this a bad idea, if so a Mod can delete it? I'm not much of a video maker, but here are two to get started: A Landing of the 757 Freemium at Orbx's Stewart Airport: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqYABqs3YRk Before the landing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZFSnL5Bj-M Note: You wouldn't normally land a 757 at an airport like this (especially in bad weather), so that is kind of my point on videos. Something unique and interesting... I'm sure other members have better ones. I say we generally stay away from crash videos... Video Ideas Crosswind landings, problematic takeoffs, interesting things a plugin did, bizarre looking clouds, incredible scenery, cool airport effects, etc...
  8. New video up! Would love if any of you guys would like to check it out and give me some advice on what I need to improve. It's a takeoff from KLAX in the PMDG 737 using VATSIM. http://youtu.be/XjRIBSlWlhk. My twitter: @Boeing1514. Again every like and comment is appreciated. Subscribe if you want to aswell! Thanks again!
  9. What could say more about you than a YouTube video of yourself, your favorites, your sim, your cockpit, your coin collection, your very rare bulikula, than a movie in your Profile. We are pleased to announce that you can now add a YouTube video to your profile for all to see when they check you out. To put a video in your profile, go to your UCP and SETTINGS. On the left side bar, you will find a link for YouTube videos. Click on it and put a video (or videos) in your profile. The information you need to put in is the ID of the VIDEO. Not the URL, but the ID that appears in the URL of the YouTube for your video, such as "tdj3QwRy1vc" which happens to be the ID of the video you will see in my profile. Keep in mind that all AVSIM Terms of Use apply to what you put in your Profile as a video. Do something your mamma would not want to see, and it probably will result in some not so friendly Moderator's response. Have fun!

  12. Hello Everyone, I Have made this video on how to load the fuel into the PMDG 777 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofLvy7m5Neg
  13. Hi, as some of you may already know I've made a series of tutorials which is over 3 hours in length and is made up of 11 episodes... and counting! They go from explanations of the instruments, panels and systems in episodes 1-4, to the normal operating procedures in episodes 5-10 and from episode 10 onwards specific features people request. The people who have watched it have always said they are excellent so I thought I would spread the word here! I hope you enjoy them and comment requesting new videos if required of the NGX or other PMDG products (this was my first one and it's like nothing I've ever flown on MSFS).Here is my channel where you can find the episodes you would be interested in: http://www.youtube.com/user/FSXpilot767
  14. Hey, everybody, I'm a teen and I'm really into flight simming and I'm also getting pretty good at it. I've recently been thinking about starting up a youtube channel with flights and tutorials and I was wondering what people from the community thought about this idea, do you think it could do well? maybe not to well let me know and ill probably start a channel anyways but still looking for some feedback!
  15. I was thinking today, that in this community there seems to be no awards to people who put effort and time into media produced for flight sim users, thus, i have an idea to create a honour for those people who crate media related items for the flight sim community a flight sim oscars if you will My ideas for awards: Best overall Flight Sim YouTube channel Best Educational Flight sim channel Best Flight Sim movie channel Best overall flight sim Twitch channel Best Flight sim news website Best Flight sim news show (on youtube) Best upcoming twitch channel Best upcoming Flight Sim channel For this i will need a panel of judges, also i would need interest from the community to make this happen If you would like to be a judge contact me by email cromulanboy@gmail.com Also a video maker on youtube would be usefull If you have anymore ideas for categories please suggest some
