Reality XP GNS

Let me get this straight... the 430 and 530 are both almost fifty bucks. I can definitely live with that, but would rather see a discount for purchasing both... there had to be at least some duplication of code going on there. But now they want 100 bucks for the 3.5 meg "Ultimate" Expansion pack that simply lets you use two of their units on the same panel???There has either got to be a pricing error or some *serious* gouging going on...Robert

That should be "each" almost fifty bucks.I've been a proud user of several of Reality XP's products over the years but I was shocked at the price of the Unlimited add-on. $99.99 for a "upgrade" that adds the ability to use two similar GNS WAAS units is just too much.No thanks Reality XP.Todd

But doesnt the unlimited come with the 430 and 530?

No it doesn't, to get the entire GNS package at this point will be roughly 190 USD.I own both the 530 and 430, but I AM NOT GONNA BUY THE UNLIMITED ADDON, for 100USD. I can live without the crossfill, having two of the same unit on the panel and Tcas for now... I will buy it WHEN it comes down in price.RXP has probably set the initial price based on the compulsive addon adicts. I would bet money that it will come down in a few weeks.JB

You may be right... but it is equally possible that RXP is differentiating between "Simutainment" and "Professional Grade" avionicswith this release. If so, we may be seeing more of this in the future. After all, serious simmers will spend $3-400 on the next great video card, so why not similar sums on professional grade avionics?

I consider myself as serious of a simmer as any.. Currently I have the great GNS's from RealityXP and I am currently very happy with em, but for the minimal functionality that a 100USD software link adds, I would much rather spend it on the upcomming PMDG J41. The video card comparison is kinda iffy. Think about it this way... Our video card is one of many pieces of hardware that sets the foundation for the entire simming experience in the broad spectrum of all the FS addons we have. The Unlimited software link only adds a hair of functionality to the pre existing avionics we have already bought and enjoyed.Personally, I believe RXP will hurt thier potential market by leaving the Unlimited software at that price. Sure, they might sell a few hundred at the current price, but once it's within reason, they will meet the majority of the market that would be willing to spend maybe 30-40 USD for something that only adds 10% more functionality from a product that can already be looked at as being complete.JB

I take it that Bert is speaking of real flight schools etc. when he uses the word "professional". I just visited a new one at my local airport that is filled with simulators, all running the rxp units, with custom designed hardware.

I have re-read the front page with a cooler temperment and it isn't totally as bad as as the first impression. Apparently there is some sort of traffic warning system available that was not included before. But it is still really bad. I'm no computer expert, but how "deep" can a 3.5 meg file be? Personally I am not excited about traffic warnings enough to remotely justify this price.I'm not ranting, I'm not flaming. But this is far beyond my "good value" threshold.Robert Alley

Wow, 100 bucks just to link them?!

What upsets me about Reality-XP is the fact that FSX panel fits have been largely ignored by the developers. Now I don't expect them to go fitting out every add on aircraft that comes out, But clearly its obvious that some of the AC released could benefit from a panel fit. Yes they provide a tool to do it but its usless for putting the guage into the VC for example. Also

Wow that is expensive, I'll stick with my TCAS, moving map and ACARS device gauge that is included with FS Flight Keeper and its still cheaper than just one of these RXP avionics gauges.25miles.jpgThe whole gauge isn't shown above, the rest of the keyboard is further below the bottom edge of the picture.

Cheers, Andy.

Four years ago the upgrade to "GNS Professional", which added cross fill, etc, was $24.95, about 17% less than what I paid for the 430 at the same time ($29.95). Granted I do not believe it had TCAS, and no WAAS, but $100 is totally absurd in my opinion. It also seems the price has been raised by $10 on the WAAS units too, just in case you have to start from fresh with no units (I paid $39.95 a month ago).Even the product description quotes three feature, the only "new" one is TCAS, which certainly not revolutionary in FS.Sounds to me like greed has set in, and I'll pass on it too.Joe

If true, RXP is out of touch with both this economy and hobby. $100 for that upgrade is ludicrous. Bob..

I'm a long time supporter of RXP products. I also own the WAAS units. The also dissapointed with the price of the cross link for an additional $100. If it had the ability to run across a FSWIDE or Simconnect computer, I would consider the price worth paying. I thought that was the direction FS was going. But there's the old now freeware 530/430 that does the same thing except their 16 bit instead of 32 bit.Bill M

$100 is just plain silly and it sort of looks like price gouging. Whether or not this is the case is beyond me, but one thing is for sure, I will no longer be purchasing RXP products at this price point.$100 for an addon like this, this day in age, is just insane.
