PMDG 737 NGX: The View Forward

This nonsense about how "I cant see the wings I fly only from the cockpit," is about 90% rubbish. I agree 100% in regards that most resources should go to system fidelity and what goes on the cockpit but the mindset of some forums members is amusing. I always see people saying that they don't care about the external model. In that case, PMDG could model a box with a VC of the 737NGX and those people would buy that. Its amusing because I know with out a doubt in my mind that everyone uses spot view during their flights. And on another note, for the price of some of these add-ons, something like wing flex better be modeled no matter how small. It shows that the developer is paying attn. to detail. Something PMDG are amazing for doing. Honestly, in my opinion, if i was on the fence about an add-on and a small detail like wing flex or if the flaps are in the shape of plywood, Im not gonna waste my time. Enlighten me if i am wrong but I don't think FSX models the external model while the POV is in the VC. This goes the same the other way around. That being said, How would wing flex or other tidbits on the external model cause FPS drop? IF it does, One may need to worry about why they cant get good FPS using an outside view.

Can we not get back on topic? Who thinks that the "announcement" will be for the NGX? And when we buy the bird, it would be nice to discuss what kind of flights we'll be flying.

Well he speaks!Nobody know what the announcement will be and we'll just have to wait and see....Check the forums, I'm 99.9% sure there is already a post regarding you "first flight" in the NGX.You should read the forum rules also.Peace and love to you my good flight sim friend. 2 weeks of no screenshots GAHHH!!!!:(:(
!!!Spoiler Alert!!!Here's a screenshot. It shows the prop plane I believe is going to be released this week. It too has been long awaited, and loved by all (Background scenery is from the up and coming MD_Flight). This may just be rumor but it still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Ahh yes, the famous wood pigeon. That needs more blue Dan! Way more blue to be a PMDG house paint!

Are you saying you can see the wings from the cockpit? Even when you are not flying the microlight? Wow, you must be very agile!
I always see people saying that they don't care about the external model. In that case, PMDG could model a box with a VC of the 737NGX and those people would buy that.
I would. If I could afford it, I would buy a full motion Level D simulator, despite the fact that it doesn't model wing flex.

I don't.
And on another note, for the price of some of these add-ons,
Half the price of a night out with a mate. Even one who pays his own way. Not including taxi fares natch.

Or ours?

Since you don't know, is it really so hard to trust the developers to do what they think is best? Of course, if you think you can do a better job yourself...

Hate to stray from the conversation but I feel a need to reply to this fellow.

It's only rubbish to you my friend if you fly from spot view. Can you see the wings from the VC of a 737? I cant see them from the VC of a 767 unless I stick my head out the window. Do I ever take a look around the outside using spot? Yes once in a while, but mostly when on the ground where the wings dont do a lot of flexing or if its in flight, its only to take a quick screen shot, which the animation wont be picked up anyways. While everyone has an opinion on it, frankly wing flex is the least of my concerns and if I found a plane like the NGX for example and they said there wont be wing flex it wouldn't bother me in the least. I dont even know if they are modeling it anyway since I haven't read all 82 pages of this thread.I guess in this day and age some consumers want every bell and whistle in that could be made possible. That's fine, but it seems like an easy way to set yourself up for disappointment. If I vowed not to buy every plane or addon scenery that had a misaligned texture, no bump maps, no wing flex, etc., I would probably have less than 1/2 the addons I do today. I guess I just weigh the features that are most important to me, which in the case of an addon a/c is a solid VC, good flight dynamics, and a good variety of the systems being modeled.

I think it depends on the model. I have the J41 and from what I remember in the J41's config UI there is an option to turn it on or off. Having it off gives a slight improvement in performance. Since I am more a pilot of a/c in the sim than a spotter or observer of them, I actually wouldn't mind if developers even modeled an exterior.Sean Campbell

Nice.. but they told no wingflex will be simulated... they've lost another customer. Well, let's talk about more interesting things, for example, the PMDG NGX:-) When will it be released:-P
I saw your comments on Aerosoft's forum... you're LOL!!!!!!

What will you do if the NGX doesn't have Wing-flex?! :( :( ?
