If there is one word I would assign to this product, it would be "smooth". Things just look... smooth. The scenery flows nicely from this texture to that texture, and this place to that place, and there is a definite improvement in the sense of immersion.FPS is good, but with sliders on high I took a thrashing around Vancouver. Not unflyable, but slow. Fortunately for me I just want low and slow with mountains and trees. Around Orca Island, the default FSX flight, FPS was great and the scenery superb! This is a quality product. I have FSX running with GEX + UTX + Genesis mesh, and ORBX PNW is step above in a fantastic flying region. No hesitation in recommending this scenery. Very fair price, too.

Is ORBX considering any other US areas in the future?

Also comments about if you needed to uninstall VAncouver Plus to fly PNW in the Vancouver Plus areas...http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=277678
You will need to uninstall Vancouver+ in PNW for now. We will release a compatible version (free to existing Van+ users) in the next little while. More info on my blog.Jon

John Venema said that it would make sense for them to continue in the USA and Canada and to expand on the area that is established now with PNW. There is also some consideration to do New Zealand. But nothing is definite yet. For now the focus certainly will be on producing more payware airports for the NA Blue scenery and provide support for it.Oh, and here are some more shots that show the North Bend (KOTH) area:northbendavsim01.jpgnorthbendavsim02.jpgnorthbendavsim03.jpgnorthbendavsim04.jpgnorthbendavsim05.jpgnorthbendavsim06.jpgnorthbendavsim07.jpg

Are the airports of SEA and PDX included or are the buildings all default for now?How far north does it go? Does it integrate with Victoria and Vancouver Plus?

KSEA - NoKPDX - NoVictoria & Van - Look for them to be updated in the near future.

so it already covers the areas once populated by vancouver and victoria plus? So no need to install those addons as well, right? I hope somebody comes out with good PDX, YVR, and SEA scenery. hopefully frame rate friendly too

Van+ and Vic+ add significant features, including a number of detailed airports, custom buildings and bridges, effects, etc. not included in FTX PNW. Jonathan Gabbert has been working on CYVR.

... And Orbx will be making KSEA and KPDX, but not until 2011. This year we are releasing about a dozen GA/Regional airports for PNW first. As Jon said, V+ and Van+ significantly enhance FTX PNW. We deliberately did not focus too much detail on Vancouver for that very reason. One bonus though - there's a freeware update to PNW coming which adds in photoreal downtown Portland, the office buildings, bridges and other POIs. We've begun work on that, but it was culled from the PNW release due to time and size constraints

Cheers,

John Venema

<cough> KOLM <cough> :( ....or maybe something in Thurston, Lewis or Mason counties??? :(John,One thing that blew me away in the screenshot I posted earlier was the Capitol Way Bridge in Olympia, WA that passes over I-5. I've NEVER seen that bridge modeled before unless it was from FTX.

Bill Womack is doing Pearson for Orbx, it's his next project I believe. We're still putting the wraps on 7S3, so I'll quiz him on his next steps ;)Bill is also helping out with our Portland downtown freeware. Being a local he can photograph all the buildings and POI's, including those famous bridges.

Cheers,

John Venema
