March 3, 201016 yr I'm flying a [email protected] and find that turning off all freeway traffic helps a lot. As a test, just set all traffic air/boats/cars to zero and work your wayup from there.-------------------------------------------------------------------------Bert, add the following to the TOP of your FSX config file. Then press SAVE to lock it there.[bufferPools] PoolSize=0By just adding this, you should see a 5-10 FPS increase and smoother forward animation. If you have not already tried this...do so and see where it gets you.Mitch

March 3, 201016 yr Commercial Member Reducing Scenery Complexity down one notch will give you a noticeable improvement in Seattle without losing hardly any eye candy. We have our own low-poly dock cranes coming in a service pack which will solve the FPS hit those red default cranes are causing. Cheers, John Venema
March 3, 201016 yr Hi Bill,Our DVD-ROM version of PNW is still being manufactured. The intial release was for the download edition only. We are only shipping the gold master to the reproduction plant tomorrow, so we expect shipment by the end of this month, maybe sooner. We will have two resellers in the USA for PNW - FSPilotshop.com and PCAviator.comThey will soon be setting up the product pages so pre-orders can be taken. We are seeking more distributors in the USA or Canada, so perhaps there may be more outlets soon.By the way, here's the latest video of PNW - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrXsDDdWv2Y I appreciate the option of buying the DVD which would definitely be my first choice, but man that is a hefty premium to pay when you factor in shipping and extra cost for the DVD. I haven't yet bought the product, and I know I eventually will. But had the price of the DVD included, for example, free shipping, I would already have ordered. I'm sure there are a few others who maybe react this way. So do consider this too, it costs to maintain the server and also having to support lost key files and so forth for the less pricey downloaded version. I can certainly appreciate the raw higher costs from the DVD manufacture and so forth, but even so, I'm guessing a few folks would buy it if the DVD version were less. Thanks for listening ;O)Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. March 3, 201016 yr You could buy it download it, and burn it to disk? Or do you have a capped bandwidth isp?

On the other hand my favorite place to fly is the Western US so I wouldn't mind orbx going south to California and east to the other mountain states.. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Thanks for listening ;O)NoelHi NoelI believe the extra cost is a factored in as a small premium for not having the activation code steps when installing from the DVD. Like some of the others on the ORBX team, I am entitled to a free copy of the package, but I chose to purchase as a thankyou to the developers for their outstanding work. I consider the full retail cost of the DVD to be a bargain even though I could have it for free.On a side note I have been involved with distribution of media in the past and it is surprising how much it costs to handle actual media from ordering through to delivery. While postage costs of a DVD might only be $7.00 say if you add up all the hours and on-costs the price to ship a DVD out the door is somewhere in the region of $10-$12.00 minimum so from a business point of view there's not much to give away before they start going backwards.Hope this has helped sway you :-)

March 3, 201016 yr This scenery converted me to FSX!I got FSX a s present, when it first came out, tried it, got a slide show, didn't like the graphics very much, sold it!In the meantime I got a new rig having lots of fun with FS9 with all the enhancements and hundreds of add ons. But then this recent thread in the FS9 forum about "what's the better sim" made me think (thanks to Jean-Paul!) and I had a closer look into the FTX/ORBX website and came after PNW (and off course their other sceneries). I was stunned by the screenshots, youtube videos, John's blog and also by the shots posted in this thread and in the screenshot forum. Also the many positive comments by users helped me to make the decision.Result: on Friday 05 March is my birthday and one of the presents will be FSX (how do I know? :( ) And then the first thing I will do is downloading PNW (or maybe I will do it before I get FSX, I just can't wait).I'm sure I will continue to use FS9 too for flying the heavies etc. Can't wait for Friday!Wolfgang

March 3, 201016 yr I'd love to see the Great Lakes! I suggested it on their forums. But it is flat as a pancake!!There is so much beauty in the US to enjoy from the air - starting from Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Montana, Wyoming, etc - by the way I don't live in any of these states. Michael J.
