I just tweaked FSX as per the PNW manual for an i7-975 class computer platform.I am heading out of Victoria, B.C. headed South along the coast...and this has got to be the pinnacle of my flight sim'ming hobby for enjoyment, a sense of realism, and over all satisfaction. What is below me at 5,500 A.S.L. is breathtakingly REAL.I recommend to anybody that you set your FSX sliders to all masks as the ORBX team recommends for your platform. What you will get is a flight simulation paradise.....This was the BEST 50.00 odd bucks I have EVER spent for scenery...EVER!I'm just glad it was produced, and am reaping the benefits of it....and will be for years to come!Try out the ORBX Weather 4 option under the WEATHER mask. Beautiful for this scenery, and so right on the mark!Back to the flight, and a HIGH FIVE for low-n-slow General Aviation. It allows you to suck the' PNW marrow' from the bones....:))))))Mitch'er

I agree. I configured by settings for a mid-level platform but didn't like the AI recommendation of 16% and kept mine at 50%. I still get well over 30 fps and this is the first photo real scenery I have seen doing that. I doubt I will be flying any commercial addon heavies I own much in this area as there is so much to explore nearer the ground. I can't wait for the updates to VancoverPlus and VictoriaPlus! I only had to pay about $49.54 and it was well worth the price.Best regards to all,Jim
for heavy iron flyers like me, I don't care about the entire states being done. Just certain areas that a lot of GA flying is done in. How about ORBX socal next? Then ORBX Florida
Funny you should mention this. As a long time ORBX user I hope that when they do decided to add another American Region that they build from PNW. This probably won

But can they cover the entire US? Sure they could but it would take A LOT of time, time I don't think they want to spend, but I wish they would. But on this accuracy level you would be getting a steal at $200+ for the entire US. $500 would probably be an out for me, but I would still be thinking about getting it.
Hmm, the UK is MUCH smaller, so how 'bout it ORBX........???? :( My goodness, I'd pay 200 copies of the Queen's head for that!!!!! :( Wish it would happen.......Ian
+ 2Yuo quoted the wrong post, ROTFLMAO!!!! :(
OldB, this is your last post in this thread, ok?I thought you were adult enough to understand my previous warnings.I expect this one to be clearer.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------I also had the A.I. and Traffic set to 16 percent, but that I could bump it all up to 25 percent and found that it gave me the traffic levels I wanted on the ground and in the air. I just landed from a PNW flight between Victoria, B.C. and Portland, Oregon. I suggest that ride...with a LOW LEVEL AIRWAY. which will have you at 7,000 A.S.L. for the trip. Coming onto visual R25 from off the mountain is a beautiful approach in PNW. I doubt that I will be flying much outside the defined area for quite some time to come..... One fantastic adventure, to be sure!Cheers,Mitch
Funny you should mention this. As a long time ORBX user I hope that when they do decided to add another American Region that they build from PNW. This probably won't be the case because even if you took a huge chunk of land (say from the Cascades west to Central or eastern Montana and as far south as Northern Utah) it would not capture a large population center. For Marketing reasons it would probably be better to do a Florida, Texas, California or similar area first and then fill the gaps in later when folks want a completed area. This is probably the reason why I waited on ORBX AU Red (Central Outback) even after I had Blue, Gold, and Green. While I wish them all the success they deserve I hope that Orbx does not lose that fine attention to detail I have grown loyal and accustomed to by growing too large and outsourcing their work in the future.I am waiting for a desert Southwest region in the future myself since nobody has captured this area of the country with the fidelity it deserves. There are lots of opportunities there for GA and Commercial flight as well as areas worthy of special emphasis. The Grand Canyon, Tucson, Phoenix, Flagstaff, Vegas, all come to mind and thats just scratching the surface.
--------------------------------------------------------------I'm sure that Geofa and I would love to see the Great Lakes Basin come under FTX scrutiny, LOL!Oh yeah.....

Ahhh yeah!! I'd buy FTX Great Lakes - I live just off Superior!! Northern MN is a beautiful place to fly over! ;) ;)

I believe that the default FSX flight now starts in PNW.jja
Correct, Friday Harbor is located inside the PNW scenery boundary. Makes for nice before/after shots too! ;)Here's one shot there from an Orbx customer ..1267598607.jpg@Mods: image now 190K :(

I would LOVE to see an ORBX version of Florida/Bahamas done. No majestic mountains but tons of beautiful tropical destinations afforded. From cosmopolitan Miami/Miami Beach to the Florida Keys to the endless Bahamian Islands... "Sigh..." I can dream...

I enjoyed viewing the marketing slide shows prior to purchasing. Taking off near KSEA (Renton Muni/traffic off) that is what I'm seeing now; a slide show. That's in the Real Air Duke. I was concerned about the performance hit as I own all of the ORBX Australian packages. My frame rates dropped dramatically near large metro areas (Melbourne,Sydney). I also have YMML which I cannot use, period. Frame rates on the active runway are 5 or 6fps with no scenery details checked in the YMML configurator. I was hoping their new development method might help me. However, my system is no match for this scenery in large metro areas. It's my fault for not paying attention to the systems used by the 'oh wow folks'. Is there anyone able to enjoy this scenery near large metro areas who are NOT using an overclocked I7? If so, what settings have you found best balance usability against scenery detail? Also, has anyone flown out of the PNW area with that scenery selected in the ORBX switchy thingy? Are there scenery problems outside the area? Thanks.Bob.. :)

This may, or may not help Bob. Please consider that I'm using only the ORBX free demo. I experienced major slowdown around YMLT, but after trial and error and by removing the ORBX_YMLTcars.bgl from the airport scenery, everything was back to normal.

I'm flying a [email protected] and find that turning off all freeway traffic helps a lot. As a test, just set all traffic air/boats/cars to zero and work your wayup from there. In Seattle, lowering the scenery complexity slider a notch also helps! ...and still looks great, even without the cranes
