Ah, thank you.So I can pan in 3D, meaning side to side, up and down, and zooming in on the switches (as if I were leaning forward) all while keeping my hand on the flightstick?Sorry to be repetetive, but this is really a deal breaker for me and I wan't to be sure of what's going on.
The only thing you cant do at the moment with a joystick switch is move the eyepoint. You can pan with the hat but you have to either use the arrow keys left, right, up, or down to move the eyepoint, or assign some other keyboard keys for moving the eyepoint. The developer Marniftarr said that he would add a way in the UI in the future to assign joystick buttons to move the eye point. Not a big deal really, but on my X52 I had the other button that looks like a hat switch assignd to my default views to move the eye point.

You should try EZdoc with a good Force Feedback Joystick like the Microsoft FF2. You don't really know what you're missing.Stan

Yes. Here's what I do. Not sure what flight stick you have, but I have the Saitek X52. I setup my cameras in Ezdok, then assign the various cams to buttons on the stick. Panning is auto-assigned to the hat (it overrides the fsx hat-pan). So let's say you set up a "panel" cam which zooms in and looks at your main panel area up close, I assign that to T1 on the X52 (the big switches at the bottom), and I assign "pilot eyes to T2. So I can pan around with the hat as pilot, then press T1 and I'm zoomed in to the panel. I can hat pan from here too if I want -- ok, press T2 and I 'float' back to pilot. These cameras are customizable practically to the limits of your imagination. I dare say you wont' be disappointed. And even if you are, Flight1 has a 30-day money back guarantee. Here's a 2 minute video I shot of me flying the L39 over the Oregon coast. In this you can see me switching to various cameras I'd set up. Keep in mind though, that the cameras I set up did not yet have the "shaky" effects enabled, but you can see the panning, zoom, switching etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndYAvo_6anIIf you have the bandwidth, I highly recommend you choose "1080p" from the resolution menu, and go fullscreen for full effect!
Yeah, I saw that video before. Very nice. Happy to see it again.I'm still using my beloved MS FFB2. I use a Saitek Cyborg stick as my throttle. Provides me with a very comfortable and affordable HOTAS setup and the Cyborg has enough buttons and switches to keep my hands off the keyboard 99% of the time.Definitely getting that new Saitek FFB HOTAS rig this summer when the work season kicks in. That thing is just too cool.

The program is great! Immersion level to the nines....The User's Manual...needs work..... :( There needs to be an in-depth guide through on what each of the adjustment pots do, how much is the range of effect, what are all the generators..and how best to use them/adjust them for a medium setting...and then after you have that... you can personally go nuts on them tweaking to your heart's content.Stuff like that. The User's Manual gives you a pretty good idea of how to create and adjust cameras. In fact...totally easy. You enter a name of the camera you want to create, enter your keystroke to call up that camera, you then go back to the sim (press the number keypad '2') and set up the scene EXACTLY how you want it...and then press '2' once more. '2' calls up the EDIT MODE.Congratulations, you just created a camera, that will take you back to that angle, aircraft position, etc in the space of the keystroke you entered. Easy as pie. It's the adjustment pots for effects, etc that can cause you to pull your hair out. They look like a mixing board in a sound studio! :)Love the effects on the ground and in the air. Glad I got it, after I figured some of it out this morning, lol.Cheers,Mitch

EZCA is great indeed. When I switch the effects off I'm surprised how static and flat everything seems now. The little head movements really add a different dimension that you may only get by TrackIR otherwise.

They are already working on a guide like that. So all is well!

I ended up buying this myself and I have to say that this software increases the immersion level by 100% for me. Thanks Marniftarr !!!

Nice! I recommed you set the camera movements to Cinema or you just increase the smoothing setting to make the pans look less mechanical and more fluid and life like.

I totally agree. I've found that I absolutely love making these videos. I bought Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD yesterday. It's the cheap-o $39 home version, but hey it gets the job done and does a lot! I created a new video yesterday for the purposes of starting to learn Vegas MS, and realized how much work I need as a director. I started making notes and on the top of my list is "smoother pans". I can pretty much guarantee that my movie-making skills will improve greatly over time. I've got a lot of nice ideas. Thanks very much for the constructive criticism, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

What you describe is indeed easy (and fun), but I was referring to creating cams on payware planes from a blank canvas. I guess what I'm saying is I don't want to import cams from the Piper Cub into say, the Aero L39 jet :)I can create the new cameras from nothing quite easily, but adding the effects, I'd be lost. There are a ton of variables. Are there preset effects somewhere that I'm missing? This is a good idea. We could share camera settings for payware a/c. Example: each camera is it's own file, so you'd have to take all of a plane's cams and zip them up for easy trading.
Adding effects is as simple as clicking any (or all, or a combination) of the three red toggle switches labled "RND" (randomly generated vibrations from the engine, for example) "DHM" (dynamic head movement vibrations from turbulence for example) and "CR" (camera resonance vibrations from landing effects). You can do this independently for each camera you set up, so that a zoomed in view for radios, for example, can have the vibrations turned off to allow for easy adjustments with the mouse. It's really not too difficult. Although, within each camera their are adjustments available to customize the strength of effects, etc., and you could spend all day tweaking. I find the default effects excellent though.Hope that helps!

Thanks, Jesse. I created new cameras on a payware plane that had none, and even though the RND, DHM, and CR buttons were checked, the actual settings on those (when you right click them) are all at zero. So even though they are enabled, they don't actually do anything.

If you are after making your films a bit better, you could certainly do a lot worse than to read this book:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Directing-Camera-C...e/dp/0950758221It is one I recommend to people when I teach them film and video editing courses, and for general film-making concepts it's well worth a read. Cheap to buy too.EZDOK does have a lot of potential for making films in FS. I just used it to make a little video last night which will be linked to the Avsim review of the SimCheck A300. The purpose of that being to show as much of the model as possible in as short a time as I could manage to support the screenshots that will be in the review, so in this instance it is a high speed walkaround and a few zoomed in bits rather than a directorial masterpiece, but without EZDOK, this would have been a lot harder to do, and for the purposes of this thread, it does demonstrate how easy it is to position a camera around your FS aeroplane:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZY9BQ27Pz8Al

Magic Bus! awesome :( Great choice. I love The Who! Great video too, I can learn from you.

FSX does already have head movements, to a limited extent. Does EZDoc exaggerate these, and / or add movements of its own?

Petraeus

Yup, it greatly adds to the head latency effects of FSX, which in FSX are normally most apparent when you stand on the brakes. EZDOK is very cleverly done though, being a separate effect, and a lot more sophisticated than the default FSX effect. As others have stated, it really is very convincing; certainly cool if you want turbulence to appear to be affecting your aircraft. What is especially pleasing on that score is the fact that it makes it seem more like you are actually 'in' an aircraft, with the scenery visible 'through' the windows, which makes the VC experience a lot more visceral, and understandably, I think that is what has sold many people on it, including me. Even something as simple as the take off roll is made more believable as your view shakes about a bit.The camera tweaks and such do not have to be indulged in, you can simply set it and forget it, and it will look pretty convincing even on the default settings, but there is the potential to play around with it to suit your favourite aeroplane and how likely you are to get thrown about in the seat.Al

Huh, I'm stumped. That seems odd. I wonder if something is amiss with your installation. For me, the default camera that gets installed on all planes when you run the configuration program (EZCA config.exe), as well as all the virtual cockpit cameras I add manually, have vibration effects turned on without me needing to tweak it at all. I'm assuming you followed the manual's instruction to disable User Account Control or run as administrator? Then again, that's a total shot in the dark :) But I would definitely post on the Flight1 support forum to see what might be going on. From what I can tell, our systems are very similar, and mine worked right out of the wrapper :)Good luck - tell us if you figure it out!
