Externalities and the NGX

Featured Replies
Well I suppose I should mention that the team is currently very busy with the development of the NGX, when one of us has time to give an update in the forum, we will. I think somebody mentioned a few days ago that if the team were to constantly answer questions in the forum, that takes time away from development.

Now would we want to hold up release? As far as updates go, there isn't a new update yet other than what we've given in the past. We have been more than generous with updates about the NGX in the past and there shall be more updates down the pipeline, patience and understanding is all we ask. Lets let the team continue concentrating on finishing the NGX?

Stay tuned,

(Gone back into the hangar to continue hammering away...)

I think the key to it is inaccurate information is worse than no information at all. People have placed their expectations and anticipation on internal dates which were inaccurate. Maybe people are finding it frustrating because they thought pmdg's accuracy in the creation of aircraft would also be reflected in their expectation of deadlines and release dates. At the end of the day the staff of pmdg don't owe us anything and do provide what info they can to keep the peace and to tide us over till it's released. They too want to release this baby asap but on their own terms and to their own satisfaction. Pmdg is not famous for meeting deadlines nor are they famous for making bucket loads of money. They are famous for three things....quality, detail and accuracy all of which are qualitative factors and hard to quantify both in time and in cost. If they are taking longer than expected it's only for the benefit of the consumer (you and me). I admit I use to be frustrated but I have grown to understastand that they are not your normal software producer........they do it for something greater than profit and deadlines......they do it for the love of the hobby, for the recognition of their consumers and peers and they do it to uphold their legacy. Greatness is not measured in dollars and cents nor hours or minutes......it's measured by how it changes you and the experience you have. So to all those who are frustrated remember why you are buying a Pmdg plane, not because it was cheap and not because it came out quickly. You will buy it because it's the best and gets you just that little bit closer to feeling like your flying the real thing and escaping reality for a few hours a day.Mike Kendall

Hi VinAs much as I appreciated the snippets of screenshots of the NGX, my main concern is that RSR said in his first post on Jan 28th that the night shots would be shown that weekend and now 2 months later we are still waiting, this to me is a worry that PMDG is taking 2 months to sort out the night lighting, which I thought would be a simple thing to sort in the scheme of things. Now I am not a programmer by any means and don't claim to be but in the timeline of things this is a worry :( .I with many others on this forum are frustrated with the misleading information and promises, all the mature people here want is sound information and no statements of promised screenshots and not deliver, best to say nothing at all then no one would complain.I just want to get that off my chest because I have been so fed up looking at posts when are you going to release or I'm buying IFly. I just want the truth and not empty promises.regards

From reading this forum, I'm just under the impression that PMDG have run into some kind of development problems that's causing a delay in releasing the NGX. I think the problems are related to the -600 and -700 models. If I recall correctly, the screenshots that have been shown sofar, only include the -800 and -900 models. The other models are nowhere to be seen. Maybe they are trying to solve some problems with the other models before deciding to leave them out of the package all together. As that would probably start another rain of complaints.Jon Klaasen

Geez people, Just be patient.this happens every time before a release. It just isn't fair on PMDG staff to get side tracked like this.Every PMDG product I have purchased over the years has been a gemInfact I have pretty much stopped using all other addon aircraft because of PMDG's high standards and quality.I am sure this 737 NGX wil be the most amazing aircraft ever made for FSX.If it's so so very bad then go back to fs2004 and use PMDG B737 for a while until NGX is released.Rick

Besides Jason's very good point about customers having already paid Boeing for their products:Daniel, have you even slightly followed the 787 program? There's been 5+ major delays and it's currently 3+ years late and billions of dollars over budget. There is no "release date" for it from Boeing, they have readily stated they don't know when deliveries will actually take place right now. The idea that Boeing doesn't have delays on real aircraft is ridiculous - the 787 program is completely notorious for it. http://en.wikipedia....delivery_delays You have not paid us for the NGX, you have no stake in it the way that Boeing's customers do in their airplanes that they have already paid for and thus you're not entitled to any of our internal development information. Go ask Ford or Chevy if you can have all their development info on two years from now's car model because you might buy it when it's released - see what they tell you. Same exact idea.We don't have "delays" here - there has never ever been a hard release date for this product - anything we have ever said was our internal target estimate at the time - this changes in an unpredictable way and we've always said that.
Thanks for the wiki link, I had a great laugh!I remember the ongoing comments of boeing-adepts when Airbus was in trouble. From Dreamliner to Nightmareliner!Best Regards,Bert Van Bulck

All I can say is good luck on getting any info about the 777 after all this "sense of entitlement" that people are displaying fro the 737. I think a bunch of people ruined any chance of that and I wouldn't blame PMDG one single bit.Jack Colwill

JackI not wanting a sense of entitlement but just solid information, as I said before " under promise and over deliver" the basics of good relationship with your customer base. Rant over
